The Quest for Achieving Maximum Health & Wellness

Having constantly been searching for maximum nutrition and health for more than 30 years, my quest was both heightened and accelerated when I was simultaneously diagnosed with both AIDS & Tuberculosis in 2006. After having survived for 17 days in isolation in the hospital, I found that maximum nutrition was the crucial ingredient in my recuperation and living a productive life. It proved to exacerbate the positive effects of my medication. Besides taking an array of vitamin and mineral supplements, I recently found that antioxidants play the most crucial role in the healing and living process since they ward off the many negative effects of "free radicals" which are primarily responsible for cell deterioration!

My 5 best tips for staying healthy

... Eat a well balanced, nutritious diet -
Drink at least 50 oz. of water (2-25 oz Sport top Bottles) per day, DAILY cardio-exercise (a brisk walk of at least 30 minutes coupled with bicycle riding 2-3 times per week), 7-8 hours of sleep each night, and AVOID the Drive-Thru!

Vitamin & mineral supplements are necessary and a Premium Antioxidant
has proven to be crucial!

How I'm Beating the Odds Living With AIDS on Wikipedia

I added this section to more thoroughly explain to the reader, in greater detail, about what the benefits of antioxidants are as well as the damage that free radicals can cause. I also feel it's important to have precise definitions of the terms used made available.

An antioxidant is a molecule capable of slowing or preventing the oxidation of other molecules. Oxidation is a chemical reaction that transfers electrons from a substance to an oxidizing agent. Oxidation reactions can produce free radicals, which start chain reactions that damage cells. Antioxidants terminate these chain reactions by removing free radical intermediates, and inhibit other oxidation reactions by being oxidized themselves. As a result, antioxidants are often reducing agents such as thiols, ascorbic acid or polyphenols.

Although oxidation reactions are crucial for life, they can also be damaging; hence, plants and animals maintain complex systems of multiple types of antioxidants, such as glutathione, vitamin C, and vitamin E as well as enzymes such as catalase, superoxide dismutase and various peroxidases. Low levels of antioxidants, or inhibition of the antioxidant enzymes, cause oxidative stress and may damage or kill cells.

As oxidative stress might be an important part of many human diseases, the use of antioxidants in pharmacology is intensively studied, particularly as treatments for stroke and neurodegenerative diseases. However, it is unknown whether oxidative stress is the cause or the consequence of disease. Antioxidants are also widely used as ingredients in dietary supplements in the hope of maintaining health and preventing diseases such as cancer and coronary heart disease. Although initial studies suggested that antioxidant supplements might promote health, later large clinical trials did not detect any benefit and suggested instead that excess supplementation may be harmful. In addition to these uses of natural antioxidants in medicine, these compounds have many industrial uses, such as preservatives in food and cosmetics and preventing the degradation of rubber and gasoline.

P.S. If you learn just one thing from this page, I hope it's this

God wants us to be Happy, Joyous and Free!

I would certainly hope you gain a better handle on your health and state of wellness. It's proven to make a remarkable difference in the way I feel as well as the way I interact with those around me. Considering the fact that I went from a White Blood Cell count of 65 (FULL blown AIDS) to over 550 in just over a year and a half is quite remarkable! Both my AIDS and TB doctors call me a "model patient" and consider my recovery incredible!!
