Congrads on your Squidoo level. I am still looking for easy and proven "backlink" ideas. Haven't found any that really works for my topics other than a few I discovered for myself. Technorati seems to be not working now. Congrads on your Squidoo level. Am going for my next level. Thanks.

Great work on this lens - one thing I personally have done is set up a Tumblr, with which I post pictures of things relevant to my Squidoo lenses and set the click-through link as the lens it applies to. It's worked extremely well thus far!
  • bloomingrose Jan 26, 2012 @ 4:29 am | delete

how were you able to put squidlike url on the module....."Like This Squidoo Traffic Lens?"
    image
  • Squidoo_Queen May 2, 2011 @ 4:10 pm | delete
It's the link to add as favourite - not a squidlike. The image is one that I made and I just made it a clickable one with the link to 'add as favourite'. Hope that helps.

Remember every careful little improvement to your lens, every posting in the SquidU forums and elsewhere, every Squidoo comment made, every bit of TLC applied will eventually result in traffic but you may never know which bit!

Good advice here on not only building traffic, but also making sure you're ready to invite traffic. One of the best tips that I can give is linking relevant lenses together as well as driving traffic from popular sources like social media sites (FB, twitter, YouTube), blogs and of course writing original articles that link back to the lens.

Nice lens. The great thing about Squidoo is that it gets a ton of "Google Love", so any SEO efforts builds on that, as opposed to starting from scratch with your own dot com or a Blogger blog, for example (Blogger is owned by Google. Go figure.) I have also found that outbound links to high Google PR sites gives you a lot of Google Love. Try it, you might be surprised.

    Thanks for the great lens!

I sure didn't know we were allowed to use the clip art from Word. Is it Creative Commons? I have tons of clip art on my Microsoft Publishing program but am not allowed to use it on anything that makes money but can use it for non profit flyers, etc. Interesting and some great advice. Thanks.
  • Squidoo_Queen Nov 9, 2010 @ 8:15 am | delete
    Opps - my bad!

I'd changed that a few days ago and not published it. You are right, you CANNOT use Word Clip Art. I've changed it now :)

This is brilliant! Just what I need for my own Lens. I'm new to squidoo and would definitely need all ideas that I can get on how to generate traffic. Thanks! I love forums. Exchange of ideas from different people is sure to attract new visitors everyday. Hey, your Tweets were one of the ones I followed from Twitter when I found Squidoo. I have just finished my first Lens and now have great ideas to add thanks to you. Sundae ;-)

I think Lensrolling may be one of the most overlooked things to do. Always lensroll your sites to similar sites -- and use the new tag checker at squidutilities too!
  • dellgirl Oct 30, 2010 @ 5:31 pm | delete
I think your lens is wonderful! Thank you for sharing these great tips, I will certainly be returning until I totally understand all that you have presented here.

I'm rating your lens 5 stars, favoriting, joining your fan club, and lensrolling you to my Writing & Publishing Tips lens.
  • JollyvilleChick Oct 30, 2010 @ 8:40 am | delete
I think it's a constant balancing act between improving the lens (with content and presentation) and getting new visitors. It's a fickle business that's for sure.
  • GabrielaFargasch Oct 21, 2010 @ 8:32 am | delete
Great information here! I need to learn more about backlinks..... I have no clue what to do about them....... I will keep on reading here...... Thank you!

Isn't it cool to see the traffic peaks? It is amazing, sometimes, to see just what type of lens will pull in that traffic. I think what I find amazing is how some lenses can have the steady, almost "same" traffic from day to day with no peaks or dips -- Now that would be something to achieve, don't you think?
  • thesuccess Oct 6, 2010 @ 6:36 am | delete
If one of my lenses starts getting traffic then I'll spruce it up. I try to remember to add a new lens to Google Addurl to speed things up a little.
  • Greekgeek Sep 25, 2010 @ 2:25 pm | delete
I really like the part of your tutorial where you get people to clean up and improve their lenses BEFORE they start trying to get traffic. Too many don't realize that hey, wait a minute, maybe they're not getting traffic because their lens is badly put together, doesn't have much good content, or just needs work!

But of course, content alone seldom wins; you still have to promote it.

I've just begun using some of the Social Sites like Stumble upon and others to get traffic, finding it works but a process that requires some real organization to keep track of it all, have been detailing that plan in a newer lens, thanks 4 this info, faved and lensrolled.

Great Squidoo Traffic Tips! I really liked the bio advice and the 'traffic ready' checklist. One's initial impression whether offline or online is important. You have 30 seconds to impress someone offline and you have 8 seconds to impress someone online. You don't get a second chance to make a good first impression. *****5 Stars!
