Strength training will help you learn how to jump higher for basketball because your are
working to strengthen the specific muscles you will use to dunk a basketball. You will have
to follow a weight lifting routine that focuses on training the specific muscles involved such
as the calf, hamstring, and quadriceps muscle. This work out should be incorporated into a
total body work to make you an all around athlete. If you follow your specific routine your
muscles are going to get stronger and in turn, help you increase your vertical jump. Your workout might include: squats, dead lifts, calf raises, leg
extensions, lunges, and hamstring curls.

Agility Training

specifically to develop your vertical jump.

There are a number of programs out on the internet that offer great exercises, plans, diets, etc. Unfortunately, there is also a number of programs that don't practice what they preach. They promise you miracles and things like that but they don't even come close to delivering. Thankfully, I have reviewed almost every vertical jump program on the net. I have narrowed it down to the top 3 programs out on the net.

They are:

The Vertical Project,

If you do try out a vertical training workout, then I highly recommend you start with The Jump Manual. It is the most complete workout available. You won't be disappointed.
