From the lens How to Make A Roman Shade.

I like their simplicity a lot. I made a couple for my Aunt's bedroom but found the hardest thing was making sure the slat pockets were straight all the way across and that the ties were all the right length. I used long wide plastic strips instead of dowells (home building supply has those) cause they are lighter weight. I thought the idea for turning quilts into Roman shades was awesome! I have some vintage quilts - I might have to try it.

Yes, I think they're very pretty.

Roman shades are so easy to make. I have them all around the house for the privacy that they provide as well as the decoration effect.

I have seen Roman Shades at homes but never knew one could make them on their own. What a great way to save money

Great instructions on making your own Roman Shade. I was wondering how difficult it would be to make my own. I recently purchased my roman shades online through Blinds Chalet. After comparing material costs to just purchasing online, I realized I wasn't going to save much by doing it on my own. So I ordered through them. I am very happy with the look. http://www.blindschalet.com/window-shades/romanshades.html

No doubt, my family and I (wife & 5 kids), will have much fun and quality time together making our own unique Roman style shades.

    Hi LadyBird,
Thanks for the very informative lens. Now that you have leveled the playing field anyone can have expensive looking window decor. Plus, since you are making your own you can pick out the material that will not only make your windows look expensive you can get material that will also compliment your unique light fixtures.
