Is it possible to plan inexpensive weddings?
If you have started to plan your wedding recently, you must have come to the conclusion that weddings can be extremely expensive events. There are people who say that the most expensive things that a person would ever undertake in his or her lifetime are to buy a house and to get married.
But don't despair! It's possible to plan for a stirring and amazing wedding day without breaking the bank. Here are some tips to plan inexpensive weddings:

Tips to plan inexpensive weddings:
Professional wedding planner: If you want to plan an inexpensive wedding, forget about hiring a professional wedding planner or coordinator. They are usually very expensive. If you do not feel up to the task yourself, ask a friend or family member to assist you.Reception venue: Have your wedding reception outdoors -- ask if you could use a friend or family member's house, especially one with a very nice house and garden. Arrange for cleaning services to clean up after the wedding.
Wedding dress: Rather rent a dress than have one made at an extravagant cost, or scan the auction websites like eBay for a secondhand one.
Catering: The catering can also become very expensive. Think about alternatives, such as having it at a restaurant (if you have a small number of guests), a buffet dinner, a finger dinner, or even a picnic.
Invitations: You can make invitation cards on your own computer and ink-jet printer, or you can ask a friend to make a design and upload the design to a website like Greeting card Universe where you will be able to order printed invitation cards at a fraction of the price that a print shop may charge you.
Wedding album: You need to get the photos in digital format. You can then use a self-publishing website like Lulu.com, where you can upload your photos to and design your own wedding album with your own photos. The website will have your album printed in a professional glossy format with the type of cover you specify and mail it to you. Best of all, you friends and family can also order their own copies of the wedding album directly from the website.
Wedding cake: You can order a small wedding cake for the cake table to display as well as a large sheet cake to cut and serve from the kitchen. Instead of having special dessert, serve the cake as the dessert.
Music: Instead of an expensive band, use your iPod or mp3-player with pre-defined playlists and set it up to play through a hi-fi system at the reception.
