Snoring - How do I Stop Snoring

Funny. I never thought I snored. My wife is telling me different. I have tried to stop. Believe me. I sleep on my side - never my back. I try to keep my mouth closed while I sleep, but to no avail. What's a guy to do?

Time To Do Some Research Into The Best Cure For Snoring

My wife is very serious about me Not Snoring so I thought I would do a little research. While looking into this problem, I came upon some research suggesting that there now exists a hitherto unknown ailment among men over the age of thirty which manifests itself in the patient waking up every morning with severe bruising and muscle pain around the ribcage and lower back. This new ailment has been dubbed 'wife's elbow syndrome'.

O.K, I'm only joking but I can tell you that snoring is anything but a laughing matter around my house.

At Least I'm Not This Loud!

Seriously though, I found out that snoring occurs because the soft muscles at the back of the throat, together with the tonsils and tongue, rub against each other to create the characteristic vibrating sound when you are asleep.

Although snoring can begin in any position, it most often starts when the person is lying on their back. (Do Tell) Then the tongue is able to fall further back and lessen the space where the air can flow.

However, in serious cases, the sufferer will snore even if lying on their side or stomach. (Ask My wife)

Snoring has also been found to be a clear symptom of sleep apnea, a serious ailment where the patient actually stops breathing while asleep.

So What Is The Best Cure For Snoring?

My limited research found that there are a few common cures for snoring. My question is: Which of these "cures" really work and which don't.

In the name of marital bliss, I would apreciate any information reagrding effective cures for snoring. Looking at the short list above, it is pretty clear to me that modern medical science has got me nailed.

Drinking beer causes one to snore. Check!

Being a little overweight promotes snoring. Guilty!

I have tried nasal strips which seem to work but in the morning when you take the strip off. it takes half of your nose with it. Ouch!

There has to be some better cure than giving up booze and food! Maybe a pill I could take or some exercise I could do.

Let me know if anyone has any really good, relatively painless solutions this problem.

I'm Desperate - I need a Snoring Cure

I just heard about a guy named Christian Goodman who developed a new technique and cured himself of his snoring. The technique involves using some of the same breathing exercises that opera singers and performers use to strengthen and tone the muscles in their throat and jaw for better control.

This Snoring Cure package has 24 exercises that take as little as 3 minutes per day. I think I can handle that exercise regimen. :-)

It even comes as mp3 files so I can burn them on a CD or load them on my iPod.

I think I will give this one a try.

Has anyone out there tried this one?
