Changing dog behaviour is something you can begin as soon as your new puppy or dog joins your household. You need to start teaching it what will and will not be allowed. Use a command such as "quiet", "no bark" or "enough" and reinforce your dog with praise as soon as it quiets down. Use a firm calm voice as yelling can, and probably will, make the situation worse. Things You Can Do to Help Stop Your Dog Barking

But be consistent

A few things you can do to help stop your dog barking include:

.
b) Teach a command that lets the dog know you want him to be quiet like "no bark", "quiet" or "enough" but remember, as said before, do this in a calm but firm voice - no shouting!

c) Unless you have bought your dog specifically for the purpose of keeping guard outside your property, keep your dog inside when you are not home. Dogs which normally live inside the home but are left outside all day when no-one is at home, are more prone to nuisance barking.

d) Give your dog plenty of exercise. A well-exercised dog is usually a happy dog and less prone to barking because of excess energy or boredom.

e) Do not ignore your dog's barking - try to find out the cause of it and use appropriate ways to deal with it.
