How To Write Or Create The Title Page
Ok... This one is pretty self explanatory. On this page you are going to restate the tile and or subtitle of your small report. This is also where you would display your name as the author. Now this doesn't have to be real fancy, but as you develop your own style you may want to use a particular graphic or background image. This will help you develop your "Brand" or "Style" as you develop your eBook or Small Reports business. Soon others will recognize your eBooks and reports anywhere.
Let's go ahead and look at our real life example: If you open your free copy of
30 Tips For eBook Authors
You'll see that Jimmy has kept it pretty simple and just used some large text and a plain white background. Again we are only looking at the title page. You can read the entire report later. This simple technique gives the report a very professional look and feel.
Ok... Close the report for now and let's move on to the next section.
You can read the full report later. But, for the purpose of this exercise we want to focus on the look and feel of each page or pages.

How To Write Your Disclaimer Page & Legal Statement
Now... as sad as it may be, it seems like we live in a lawsuit happy world these days. And In my express opinion it would be in your own best interest to contact a legal professional that will guide you in the proper wording of your legal statement in order to protect yourself from any liability. This statement is usually only about one paragraph long.---Disclaimer--- I am not a legal professional nor am I giving any legal advice and highly recommend that you contact one in your local area concerning what your legal statement should include in order to properly protect yourself from any legal recourse.
I think you get the idea...
On this page you may also want to include a short notice letting the reader know that they may freely distribute or give away your report to others or not. This all depends on what you plan to use your report for. Some reports you will use to generate traffic and some will be for sale.
Now, let's refer back to our 30 Tips Report and look at pages 2 and 3... so you can see how this is done.
30 Tips For eBook Authors
By the way... don't be afraid to mimic other successful authors, as this is a great way to learn. It's just like learning to play a musical instrument. First you learn to play other people's songs and soon you begin to develop your own style and techniques to write your own songs.
Did You Know ?
That when using Microsoft Word you can make the Copyright Symbol © by holding down the "ctrl" key and the "alt" key at the same time and typing the letter "c"
How To Write Your Introductory Page
Ok... this is where you to let your readers know a little bit about you and what is different about you and your approach to the subject you are writing about. Just write a brief introduction about yourself and your experience and then lead into what your small report will do for your readers. Or ... What problem or problems it will solve? If you refer back to either of our real life examples, you will notice that on page four, Kevin shares a little background about himself along with his photo.
Don't be afraid to show yourself and let people get to know you. People are much more likely to do business with you if they can see your smiling mug and get to know you a little bit.
Remember... not all products or styles are going to appeal to everyone and that's ok...
Now if we go back to our outline and follow along with our "Better Parenting Theme"
"How To Get Your Kids To Do Chores in 5 Painless Easy Steps"
Your intro statement might say something like...
My name is so and so... and I am the proud parent of 3 beautiful kids. Over the years I have found the rewards and consequence method to work the best for getting my children to complete their chores in a timely and painless fashion.
Here are the 5 easy steps I have learned to employ daily and work like a charm for me.
You could also include a nice picture of yourself along with your kids.
Then on your next page is where you would begin to share your first tip or step on how to get your kids to do their chores.
How To Write Your Table Of Contents
This page is pretty simple. As you can see... This is just list of each of the sections of your report.Let's refer back to our real life example.
You will notice that in the 30 Tips For eBook Authors Jimmy has not included a table of contents and goes straight into the contents or tips section of his report.
I will leave this totally up to you. I personally like the table of contents. To me it gives the report a look and feel of a real book.
So... without going into to much detail you can see from our example that this page is pretty easy to format. All you do is write the title of each section of your report and separate it with a few dashes then give the page number that each section starts on Taa Daaa!
You have just created a table of contents page.
How To Write The "Steps" Section Of Your Report
Ok... Here is where you will give your readers the steps or tips to use to solve their problem. By the way, this is where you are going to spend most of your time writing, as it is the heart of your content. Just break down each of the steps or tips as follows.First will be the main point of your step and 1-3 sub points.
Example: Step1--- How Using A White Board Helps You And Your Kids Stay Focused & Organized --- (1pg)
This of course is your main point and where you explain how using a white board helps you organize your list of chores and where the kids can see the stars they receive for successfully completing each chore or a check mark for incomplete ones.
Then your sub points would look something like this.
---Sub Point A--- How To Set Up Your White Board (1pg)
---Tip--- You could had a simple graphic in this area showing how you have set up your white board
---Sub Point B--- Where to Locate Your White Board (1pg)
--Tip-- You may want to include some real life examples of how you and little Billy struggled at first, but how you and he eventually found
success, this is a great way to make your report a little more personal.
As you are writing your outline you may find that you will come up with several ideas for future products and or items you could promote along with your small report. Like cute little chore charts with fuzzy little bunnies and sad little monkeys instead of stars and check marks. That's why it's always a good idea to keep some side notes for future reference.
Now just repeat the process for steps 4-5.
Now remember, this doesn't have to be an exact science. You may only have one page of "How To Information" for one section and 2-3 sub points for another. That's why in the main illustration I have given you 3 separate examples in the "Steps Section" of the outline graphic above.
How To Write Your Conclusion Page
oK... This is where you'll want to wrap the whole thing up and invite your readers to come and visit your website where you sell more parenting guides and products that relate to raising children. You could say something like...
I really hope you found this guide to be helpful as I know that this method has saved many a arguments and hours of frustration between me and my kids. Come and visit me at www.funparenting.com for more great stuff.
Like... Fuzzy Little Bunnies or Sad Little Monkeys...
Then on your next page you will want to include a list of resources that are relevant to your subject. Preferably these are links to your own products or affiliate links to similar products that will help monetize your report.
Remember to provide links that are relevant to your subject. You sure wouldn't want to link to fishing poles or BBQ grills in your parenting guide. Unless you are writing about " Taking You Kid Fishing" or "Teach Your Kids To BBQ" ;-)
If you'll notice inside your copy of 30 Tips For eBook Authors Jimmy provides links to many other products he has created.
