How To Write A Funeral Eulogy

One of the saddest and unfortunate facts of life is that everyday someone dies and the family and friends are left in shock and denial and confusion. It can be a very distressing time if you are the one to plan the funeral arrangements, write the obituary or deliver the eulogy.

You are in a saddened state but you want to pay the appropriate tribute to this person you loved and whom others loved. But sometimes it is just not easy to get your thoughts together and decide on the right or proper words to say to honor the loss of a loved one.

Maybe you just want to be able to comfort the bereaved with a card or just say something to them but you just do not know what to say. You don't want to say something improper or inappropriate at this time.

You Want to Pay a Special Tribute to the Loved One

But Where Do You Start?

There are many things you want to consider when writing in a card, talking with the bereaved or writing the eulogy:

* Was the person a character, a jolly or fun person?

* Were they more of a reserved and quiet person who would not have liked a long service, if a service at all? Remember the funeral or memorial service is often thought as a ritual for the living to obtain closure from this death.

* Should you include funny stories about the loved one?

* Did they have a special song, poem or quote that they especially liked?

* What about the people who are grieving? Was the person who has passed on, their spouse, child, mother, father, sister, brother, grandparent, aunt, uncle or friend? You want to say something appropriate in memory of this person and for the bereaved to feel some comfort from your words.

* Was it a sudden death, an act of violence, suicide, or a long and lingering illness that took this person away? These are all things that should be considered when conveying your sentiments.

For the first time in my life, I'll celebrate Father's Day this year without my dad...And I remember these things as if we had done them all last weekend -- because we did them again and again and again.

If There's Anything I Can Do...

Practical, Logical and Inspiring Ways To Help...

What kind of suggestions will you find in this book?

This e-book has been written from the perspective of someone whose partner, husband or wife has died, which is the author's own experience. If There's Anything I Can Do also has many viewpoints and contributions from other people who have suffered the loss of a loved one, saying what helped them most (and what was probably well-meant but not helpful) at the time and in the months, weeks and years afterward.

Yet it is not just for someone who has lost a partner; in many cases the principles are equally appropriate to someone grieving the loss of a child, sibling, friend, parent or other relative.
