Can you draw a rough circle or oval? Of course you can! And so you can also learn how to draw cartoons. The secret to drawing cartoons is using the same step-by-step methods each time....
There are very few secrets to drawing cartoons - it's a fact that with some basic techniques using a small number of shapes (which you can already draw) and lots of practice, you can devise and draw cartoons worthy of reprinting in newspapers and other publications. It's easy learning how to draw cartoons.
Any animal, real or imagined, can be simply drawn as a cartoon using the same simple methods. Want to create a Cartoon Dog? It's simple, four rough circles on a piece of paper and your dog immediately starts to take shape.

* OK - as promised, final result is in ........ and it looks like it's a Cartoon Dog narrowly winning, with Homer Simpson in 2nd place! Check back later this week and I'll have a new step-by-step Cartoon Dog tutorial. I may even be tempted to do the 2nd place if I get the time ...... *

Your lens is fabulous! I am retired now, but used to draw cartoons for a school teacher's newsletter. Now, I draw my best cartoons while I'm talking on the telephone. When do you draw? Posted January 04, 2008 |
