  • LauraHorgan Apr 30, 2012 @ 5:17 pm | delete
Picnik was great but I still think photoshop is easier to use :L Nice lens though :)
  • monstarfitness Apr 29, 2012 @ 8:48 am | delete
Google plus now has pretty much all of the features Piknik had. So I think it just basically transferred to google. I liked it better before google but its not bad. Google stole Instagram too we shall see how this ends up lol
  • JoyfulReviewer Apr 23, 2012 @ 4:25 pm | delete
Thanks for this extensive resource. Love the pics showcasing different special effects. Blessed by a joyful angel.
  • SoundFinance Apr 19, 2012 @ 5:34 pm | delete
What a great lens. I have been loving using Picnik.com and it's great to learn of the alternatives. Thank you

Don't forget about PicMonkey -- just launched a couple weeks ago & created by a couple of former Picnikers!
  • KatieL Mar 24, 2012 @ 12:42 am | delete
Great information and examples! very useful
  • Rob Mar 21, 2012 @ 5:16 pm | delete
Google's Picasa is much better than Picnic which is why Google is probably shutting down Picnic. Picasa integrated with Google+ is even better.
  • DentalTourism Mar 17, 2012 @ 8:03 pm | delete
Awesome. I do basic edits of a lot of photos for my website and so I'm looking for options to the soon to be closed down Picnik.

I will miss picnik. This is a great informative lens that will be of great help.
  • Tracy Feb 27, 2012 @ 11:50 am | delete
Picnik, yep it's certainly going to be missed, not sure why some seem to miss with good things, they did however tell me that Google will have a creativity app. well it's there, and has some of the features but NOT all, & I dont' find it as user friendly. But does anyone know of an app similar, that houses great features (thinning, text, all or close to the same features?). I think the closest thing I have found is iPICCY. Google is getting so big that they feel they need to purchase rights to everything, instead of getting the general publics opinion. Shame on them! Any suggestions
  • veronica Feb 25, 2012 @ 3:50 pm | delete
I love Picnik I wish it was not shouting down my daughter loves this its easy for her to read and use shame on you google bring it back.
  • Wednesday_Elf Feb 15, 2012 @ 1:24 pm | delete
I love Picnik and am sad it is closing. Wonder what Flickr will use as their editing tool once Picnik is gone? I'm delighted I found this page, though, with some alternative choices as I do not have an easy-to-use, resizing, cropping, brightening, etc. photo editor on my computer. Thanks for the terrific list!
  • arunadavis Jan 31, 2012 @ 9:37 pm | delete
Gonna miss Picnik dearly and I am yet to embrace the alternatives. But it's gonna to know that are options out there!
  • TomMaybrier Jan 31, 2012 @ 3:54 pm | delete
I know I'll miss Picnik. I hope that one of these suggestions serves me as well. Great lens, thanks.
  • nelsonkana Jan 31, 2012 @ 3:28 am | delete
Am used to photoshop but i think i can try use other softwares and online services.
  • GaelicForge Jan 29, 2012 @ 9:10 am | delete
My wife uses ACDSee which seems to work very well for the photo editing she does for our Etsy and Artfire shops.
  • dagsmith Jan 30, 2012 @ 12:34 am | delete
Picnik was an online service so the comparables I talk about are online services. However, with regards to desktop software ACDSee is an excellent alternative to Photoshop. The folks I know who are ACDSee fans all feel it easier to use than Photoshop. It may not have all the features - but for specific uses (as your wife's) and for the ease of use it is a great option!
  • dragonflydreams88 Jan 28, 2012 @ 3:41 pm | delete
found you while researching alternatives to Picnik (I have been a premium user for years, and am feeling a loss) . . . just wanted to let you know that Picnik Premium does/did in fact have cloning (I use it daily), and curves (if I am understanding what you mean here), and you can "flatten" an image (assuming you mean combining layers?) . . . as you can tell, I am a bit of an illiterate when it comes to computers - that's why Picnik has been a great tool for me . . . very intuitive & user friendly

. . . I use/used it daily and was very happy with my results . . . I thank you for your info here, and will continue to seek out an alternative to Picnik . . . I do a lot of layering & texture work . . . and need to find a suitable replacement (I don't mind paying - I'm not looking for a freebee) . . . judging by the "apple bee" image, maybe Avairy will fit the bill??

. . . thanx for the info & links here!!
  • Red Jan 24, 2012 @ 6:09 am | delete
thanks for the list and tips!
I do feel there is one editor missing here, which is Pixlr.com... whether you chose Pixlr Express for quick editing or Pixlr-o-matic for a fun way to beef up your photo's... I really feel that this one should be added to your list of great on line photo-editors that can replace Picnik
  • artyfax Jan 20, 2012 @ 5:03 am | delete
THanks for the tips, I had been using Photplus but need to consider a web-based tool and this seems to fit the bill. Well presented lens, blessed.
