How to Store Scrapbooks
As the host of several Scrapbooking websites, I am often asked this question by my members. Have you been challenged with finding the best way to store your scrapbook and scrapbooking supplies? With everything else we have going on in our homes, our scrapbook supplies are often left with very little space for storage. The other big problem is finding a place to actually work on your Scrapbook. Though I scrapbook at home and at a local shop, I enjoy working on my scrapbooks at my local Scrapbook Store in Orange Park Florida most of all. When I crop at Scrap "N" Stuff, there are no worries about what the kids are doing and I don't have to clear an area to work on my pages. When I am done, I pack everything in the trunk of my car and head back home where I have an area to pack everything away. Here is where my tips on How to Store Scrapbooks comes in.
Find Scrapbook Events In Your Area
ScrapbookCrops.com is a great place to post or locate scrapbooking events in your local area. You will find Crops, Retreats, Weekends ...

Scrapbook Storage Tip #1
You put all of the hard work into creating your scrapbooks and though you do not want them to get messed up, what purpose do they have if they are sitting in storage?
I know....
I know.......
You want to keep them in good condition so you can pass them from one generation to the next. If you have small children, you may be better off waiting until they are older to place your books around your home. However, if your children are old enough to respect your things, try placing a few of your books around the house. Your family will enjoy looking through them and your guests are likely to enjoy looking through them as well.

Scrapbook Storage Tip #2
You may be wondering what the picture of the dresser is doing at the top of the page. Here you have it... My second Scrapbook Storage Tip includes the dresser. Many people have space in their closets under the clothes that are hanging. Other than some shoes and unorganized items, this space goes wasted for storage. Here is a great idea for storing your scrapbooks and scrapbook supplies. Using this idea will depend greatly on your budget. If you have plenty of money to throw around you may not like this idea. However, most of us do not have plenty of money in hand right now and penny pinching is getting very popular. Take a look at craigslist.org and search for an old dresser. The dresser does not have to look good but should not be falling apart. This is a listing from my local area straight off of craigslist:

Now you will notice that this is a free item... You can find the free items under the "for sale / wanted" section under the free link. There are also some great deals in the for sale items as well. Click on the furniture link.. I found a great looking Chest of Drawers/ Dresser - for only $45.
What I am suggesting here is that you make use of your space under the hanging clothes in your closet. You will need to find a dresser small enough to fit in your closet. Fortunately, my closet is large enough for a great deal of storage below the hanging clothes. In order to store your scrapbooks and supplies, you don't have to get a huge dresser.

Scrapbook Storage Tip #3
If you don't have the space for tip number 3, you may find this tip more accommodating. Now keep in mind that I am trying to give you very inexpensive tips to avoid spending a great deal of money on scrapbook storage supplies. So this next tip is going to be very inexpensive but you want to pay close attention to the details. These boxes can be found at many shipping supply stores and they are made for shipping books. You can find them in just the right size to fit your scrapbooks. Here is the part I want to make sure you hear. I do not know if these boxes are acid free. This means you want to protect your book from the box. When I use boxes to store my photos and scrapbooks, I make sure to line the box with plastic or wrap the items in plastic to keep them from coming in contact with my photos. It is very important to note that storing scrapbooks and photos in a garage, basement or attic may cause damage to your photos. Not a good move if you are looking to hold on to your memories. The fluctuation in temperature as well as the humidity can cause severe damage and you want to avoid this at all cost.

Scrapbook Storage Tip #4
Instead of this being a how to store scrapbooks, tip number three is a tip on how not to store your books. If you want to keep your scrapbooks and scrapbook supplies in good condition, you never want to store them in a box in the way you see in the image here. You always want to have a box that is deep enough for the entire scrapbook to be inside of the box. Never leave a book sticking out or hanging out of the box. There is a good chance that someone will come along and place another item on top of your box which will cause bent corners or even crushed books. Though the spine of the scrapbooks are fairly strong, a heavy box placed on the top will cause plenty of damage to your scrapbook. How to Store Scrapbooks
Scrapbook Storage Tip #5

Some of these tips wont cost too much but I have many tips that could set you back a little if you are light in the wallet.
