About The Author
Napoleon Hill was born into poverty in 1883. He began writing at the age of 13 as a reporter for a small town newspaper in Virginia. When he was a little over 20 years old he was given an assignment that would change his life forever. He was to interview one of the most powerful men of the world of his time, the industrialist and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie.
There a relationship was born. The successful Scotsman Carnegie was as impressed by the young Hill as Hill was by Carnegie.
Carnegie sent Hill on a 20 year journey of interviewing and studying the 500 most successful people of the United States of their time, in order to determine the formula of success. Carnegie thought that this formula should be published, and made available to the average person.
After 20 years of exhaustive research based on the most wealthy men he interviewed, Hill published his work titled "The Law Of Success". Nine years later in 1937 he refined his finding to write the famous "Think And Grow Rich".
Think And Grow Rich
About The Book
Think and Grow Rich is a moneymaking philosophy that describes what to do and how to do it; giving a complete instruction on WHAT TO DO and HOW TO DO IT.
Think and Grow Rich not only gives you an understanding that money is essential for the freedom of the body and mind, but that developing a wealthy mind will give you richer relationships, friendships, and harmony within the family. In other words, Think and Grow Rich is a textbook for success.
DR. Miller Reese Hutchinson, an engineer and associate to Thomas Edison said of the book that it should be "studied, digested and meditated upon". That is why Think and Grow Rich MUST be read more than once; especially by someone who has NEVER been introduced to the laws of success, which include, the law of attraction, the law of positivity, the law visualization, and the like.
The first time I read Think and Grow Rich the laws mentioned above were so foreign to me that the content of the book didn't really sink in. It took me a second and a third read to be able to say "I've Got it".
Understanding The Subconscious Mind
The Secret Of Think And Grow Rich
In his book, Napoleon Hills talks about a secret that is yet revealed some hundred times in his book. The author says, "It has not been directly named, for it seems to work more successfully when it is merely uncovered and left in sight, where THOSE WHO ARE READY, and SEARCHING FOR IT, may pick it up".Napoleon Hill tells us that once we acquire it and use it we find out that it take but little effort to be and stay successful and don't have to ever AGAIN submit to failure.
Among those who shared "The Secret" with Napoleon Hill were, Henry Ford, Theodore Roosevelt, Charles Schwab, John D. Rockefeller, Thomas Edison, Edwin C. Barnes, Alexander Graham Bell, and George Alexander. These names represent but a small fraction of the hundreds of well known Americans whose achievements, financially and otherwise, prove that this secret when applied gives tremendous results.

Is Your Success In Life Related To Your Education?
What Is Education Anyway!
Many people believe that success is related to education.Yet, many of the successful men interviewed by Napoleon Hill had very little " formal education".
Henry Ford never reached high school.
In his preface the author ask the question: "What is EDUCATION, anyway?"
Hills said that the intent wasn't to minimize the value of schooling, and it is good for you if you have had an extended education, but his point was that if you had a meager one, the mastering of the secret to riches would put you within reach of high stations and accumulation of riches as much as any person that would have had a formal education or even an extended one.

Introduction To Think And Grow Rich
THOUGHTS ARE THINGSIf you desire of success is so strong as to make it happen, then you might have put into practice the secret that Napoleon Hill is talking about. If you have not, you might be happy to know that you can learn the techniques and put them into practice.
Hill starts his introduction with the story of Edwin C. Barnes, the man who "thought" his way into partnership with Thomas Edison.
Barnes who barely had enough money to pay for his train ticket to get where Edison was, had a tremendous DESIRE, VISION, and THOUGHT PROCESS that led him to become Edison associate. He had absolutely no credential, but this one thing, He had a strong desire and put it into a plan. He started to put his plan into action when he got on that train to become one of Thomas Edison's employee.
How To Control Your Subconscious Mind
The 13 Steps Toward Riches
The First Step Toward Riches:DESIRE
The starting point of ALL achievement
Here Hill explains how simple wish, or wishful
thinking is not enough to reach success. A strong desire is what one needs in order to be on the right track for success. He calls it a burning desire.
What is "your" burning desire?
The Second Step Toward Riches:
FAITH
The visualization of, and belief in attainment of desire.
Faith is a MUST to obtain success, if you don't have faith, belief that you will, then you won't. As the author says, one must conduct himself as if he were ALREADY in possession of the material thing which he is demanding.
Third Step Toward Riches:
AUTOSUGGESTION
The medium for influencing the subconscious mind
Thoughts enter the subconscious mind with the aid of the principle of autosuggestion.
Hill suggest to read aloud twice daily the written statement of your desire for money and see and feel yourself already in possession of it.
The Fourth Step Toward Riches:
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE
Personal experiences or observation
Basically, here the author talks about the knowledge of your craft. Know your trade, your products, your service etc... Know the vehicle you are using to make money from.
The Fifth Step Toward Riches:
IMAGINATION
The Workshop Of The Mind
Here the author defines what synthetic imagination and creative imagination are and how imagination plays a vital role in the creation of wealth.
The Sixth Step Toward Riches
ORGANIZED PLANNING
The crystallization of desire into action
To translate your desire for achievement for success you need to definite practical plan. Hill gives us instruction to build plans that will lead you in the right direction to where you want to go and be. This is the longest chapter of the book.
The Seventh Step Toward Riches:
DECISION
The mastery of procrastination
Lack of decision is one of the major causes of failure, and it is called procrastination.
In this chapter Hill underlines the importance of making decisions to create wealth.
The Eight Step Toward Riches:
PERSISTENCE
The sustained effort necessary to induce faith
All successful people had to be at one point or another persistent in what they believed in. Some legacy, buildings and bridges are today in existence because of the persistence in those who build them.
In this chapter the author gives us the recipe on how to develop persistence.
The Ninth Step Toward Riches:
THE POWER OF THE MASTER MIND
The driving force
Here Hills talks about the power of the Master Mind groups. People of the same mind meeting together to discuss ideas, plans and goals.
The Tenth Step Toward Riches:
THE MYSTERY OF SEX TRANSMUTATION
Here the author explains the switching or "transmutation" of the mind from thoughts of physical expression to thoughts of some other nature. This is definitely the most complex, but very interesting chapter of the book.
The Eleventh Step Toward Riches:
THE SUBCONSCIOUS MIND
The connecting link
The Subconscious mind. Where every result takes root. the subconscious mind is the creator of our life.
The Twelfth Step Toward Riches
THE BRAIN
The broadcasting and receiving station for the thought
Here the author explains the human brain in a very powerful illuminating way. You might never think of you brain the same way again.
The Thirteenth Step toward Riches:
THE SIXTH SENSE
The door to the temple of wisdom
Here the author explains that the sixth sense is the portion of the brain of the subconscious mind in which ideas, plans and thoughts flash into the mind.
They are sometimes called flashes, inspirations or hunches.
