How to Collect Stephen King

On the Majority of the books you are looking at, on the copyright page there will be a series of numbers. If the first number is a 1, then it is most likely a first edition book.

Be careful about the club edition books. They usually have club book written on the dust jacket. They are not woth you time.

These are going to be something of a challenge to get a hold of. Sometimes you can find a PDF version of them floating around on the internet. Every now and then you might find one listed on eBay. The only problem with that is that it will most likely make its way up to a thousand dollars or more.

My suggestion is to wait 'til Mr King makes the works in the limited edition available in other collections.

If you just want the book in your collection and you have the money to invest in it, by all means hunt it down and purchase it. Limited editions will more than likely never decrease in value (as long as you care for your books).

The Majority of these Books are really easy to find as long as you are not looking to buy first editions of them all. If you do want first editions of them. Most of the ones after about 1995 are easy to find. The ones before that I will discuss later on this page.

Take a Look at Steven King's Bibliography. Now take that list and start searching for the magazines that you can find.

Sometimes you can order back issues from the publisher. That is only true if the publisher has any in stock. They will sometime charge a higher price for these back issue. Why? Because they know that you want them.

eBay is a great source in finding everything Stephen King. Search for the magazines here. You may find it necessary to buy an entire year of magazines just to own the one that contains Mr King's Work.

Shop local Thrift Stores and Yard Sales. You would be surprised at what I have found at really cheap prices.

If you want a real challenge, start hunting down the magazines that these short stories were published in. If you find them all, you will have one of the most valuable collections of Stephen King memeralbilia.
