This is the place to learn how to get custody of you child

I will tell you the steps you should take to get custody of your child. I am a private investigator, not a lawyer. The advice I give though, is based on hundreds of child custody cases.

Steps to getting custody

1.
Determine that you want custody.
This seems obvious, and should be. The first step to getting anything in life is to determine, that you want it.

2.
Determine why you want custody.
Is it for your own selfish reasons? Is it for emotional well being of the child? Is if for the physical safety of the child? Is it to use the child as a bargaining tool to get something from the other parent? Is it to complete something you lack within yourself? Is it for child support? Are your reasons based on your needs, the needs of the child, or something else? I hope that is for the needs of the child. Please be honest with yourself. This is a very important step in the process.

3.
Determine what it is that you are willing to give up, to get what you want.
There is never something for nothing. Insuring that you get custody of your child (or children) is no different. What is it that you have, that you can give? Is it time? Custody battles can be very time consuming. One thing you can do that takes time is to create a journal of every thing that you think might help you in court. You will need to keep this journal in real time. Another thing that takes time is to call attorneys and private investigators. The more you call, the more likely you are to hire the right one for you. You may also want to spend time researching them on the Internet, or seeking out referrals to insure ou find the best for your situation. The other thing you may have to give up is money. You should hire an attorney. If you there is anything going on that will need to be proven in court, then you most likely also need an investigator. Not hiring an investigator when you should could mean paying up to 20 times as much in attorney fees. It is much cheaper to go to court with video proof one time, then go to court 8 times with out.
