Here is a very basic, simple and easy plan to follow. It lasts 6 weeks, and every week you are going to do a new and different mental exercise to help you change the way you eat.First Week: Sit down to eat and drink. Even if it's something small like a drink of water or a piece of gum - sit down! This will help get rid the unconscious snacking that is a part of being overweight. This also stops you from tasting foods when you cook.
Second Week: Become aware of the foods that you eat and the way in which you eat them. You can do this by taking a few deep, relaxing, comfortable breaths and be thankful for the food in front of you.
Third Week: You will take time to chew your food. This means, that depending on what you are eating, chew from 25-40 times with each mouthful of food. Take small bites of food, and take small sips of your drink. By controlling your portions and eating more slowly, you will give yourself a chance to get the full flavor from the healthy and nutritious foods you are eating.
Fourth Week: Eliminate negative emotions and frustrations. if you have a problem or other emotional issue, clear your mind before you eat. Eating out of frustration and anxiety is a very common bad habit.
Fifth Week: Focus on thinking about your food while you eat it. Think about how good it tastes and savor every moment.
Sixth and Final Week: Leave some food on your plate - make it a point not to eat everything.. We have been programmed to eat all the food that is on our plate, and taught to believe that it is wrong to waste food.
