With the rising cost of fuel drivers are looking at hybrid vehicles to ease the cost. The problem is that hybrid vehicles often cost so much that realizing any savings is a long and drawn out process. We are going to investigate other options for alternative fueled vehicles that will return your investment faster. The idea is to be driving a car that uses less gas, creates less toxic emissions, and saves you money almost immediately.

How much does it cost to drive a commercially available hybrid?

Toyota Prius is the least expensive hybrid I could find.

The most common hybrids on the road are gas/electric. The Toyota Prius for example has an MSRP of 26K and an estimated monthly payment of 560 USD per month for 60 months. Total Investment is 33,600 USD.

Gasoline is averaging 3.51 per gallon today. The Prius gets about 48 mpg on an 11.9 gallon fuel tank.

On average we drive 12000 miles per year. At 48 mpg that comes out to 250 gallons of gas per year or 877 USD in fuel costs if the price of gas doesn't go up.

So, we have 33,600 + 5,265 in fuel costs over 60 months. The total is now 38,865. That figures out to about 17.74 USD per day, or a dollar and eighty-five cents per mile over six years. All this is assuming that the price of gas stays at 3.51 per gallon or less.

The other viable alternative is a water/gas hybrid. Through electrolysis the water is broken down into components and HHO "Browns Gas" is one of them. HHO is metered into the fuel system and augments the gas. HHO burns very hot with only a small amount. To see the power of HHO in it's most simple form, please watch the short video that follows.

Water and gas

using water to produce hydrogen to aide full combustion of fossil fuels. It helps me save about 30%. A bigger cell will produce more hydrogen and increase fuel savings.

Only a one minute long video

but if that didn't demonstrate the thermal potential of HHO from plain water I don't know what else could.

HHO is far more powerful than gasoline on a volumetric basis. In simple terms, hydrogen burns hotter and thus will provide more power. And, the by product is water instead of the toxic fumes normally emitted.
