How much does it cost to drive a commercially available hybrid?
Toyota Prius is the least expensive hybrid I could find.
Gasoline is averaging 3.51 per gallon today. The Prius gets about 48 mpg on an 11.9 gallon fuel tank.
On average we drive 12000 miles per year. At 48 mpg that comes out to 250 gallons of gas per year or 877 USD in fuel costs if the price of gas doesn't go up.
So, we have 33,600 + 5,265 in fuel costs over 60 months. The total is now 38,865. That figures out to about 17.74 USD per day, or a dollar and eighty-five cents per mile over six years. All this is assuming that the price of gas stays at 3.51 per gallon or less.
The other viable alternative is a water/gas hybrid. Through electrolysis the water is broken down into components and HHO "Browns Gas" is one of them. HHO is metered into the fuel system and augments the gas. HHO burns very hot with only a small amount. To see the power of HHO in it's most simple form, please watch the short video that follows.

HHO is far more powerful than gasoline on a volumetric basis. In simple terms, hydrogen burns hotter and thus will provide more power. And, the by product is water instead of the toxic fumes normally emitted.
