I have tried Weight Watchers and it seemed like a good plan! Expensive but what the heck?!
I started out losing weight for the first time in decades. I stuck to the plan and it worked for me, I probably spend more than $1,500 but what is the price tag on your health?
My problem was that I most often have little time to cook my meals and once I started mixing the Weight Watchers Diet with my own diet I was shocked. I gained a lot of the weight back and from only eating a not so healthy meal per day! This felt like a major failure: Weight lost and weight gained...obviously I didn't have what it takes to stay thin and well shaped.
That feeling is the worst, you have nothing left and you start eating again without any control at all. Slowly the scale shows a pound more every week and all of a sudden you are beyond where you started. Feeling even more miserably.
This was when a friend of mine told me about a diet that she had followed. Eating four meals per day, eating until full and no hard recepies.
Today, that was 18 months and 50 pounds ago. I still use this diet as its simplicity makes it a no brainer to follow.
I have learned a lot about the calorie shifting diet and try to share any tips I have!

-The average dieter have spent less than $500 on dieting products. I have spent $1500 on weightwatchers and on supplements. So I spend more than the average dieter.

I've read somewhere that we(americans) spend about 33 billion dollars on weight loss diets, pills, supplements and so on. Before spending the measly $50 for this diet I figure that I have spent a total of about $2,000 in the last two years.
Low Calorie Diets Do NOT Work!
When you reduce your calorie intake per day, your body's metabolism while adjust itself and go into a 'starvation-mode' meaning that it will burn fewer calories and it will take better care of what you actually eat.Let me give you an example:
Let's say that you eat 5000 kCalories today, and tomorrow you will start your diet eating only 1000 kCalories per day. The first day you will become very tired and weary but after 2-3 days your metabolism have adjusted to the new conditions and only burn 1000 kCalories per day.
Ever tried a low calorie diet? Didn't lose any weight? Well, now you know Why!
You could actually lose some weight with a low calorie diet and that is if you exercise a lot and burn more than the 1000 Kcal per day. But I don't recommend trying this because you will be easily irritated and angry with no reason.

Low fat diets, this is tested by everyone because in the latest decades the low to non-fat products are everywhere. Ok, so have you lost any weight because of this? Nope, it is only in your mind that a low fat product will help you lose weight.Even worse is that you might feel healthy becuase you just selected a low-fat chocolate bar instead of the usual bar. The low-fat products is really making a lot of money for the suppliers but it is not helping you lose weight!
Low Carb Diets Do NOT Work
The interest for Low Carb Diets has really exploded in the last few years. The Atkins-diet, stone-age diet and so on.If you have ever tried the Atkins Model you know that during the first phase of the diet you are not allowed to eat more than 20 net grams of carb every day. Well, a single apple contains more!
And after several months on the diet you only eat 400 net grams of carb. A singel meal should contain more than that (according to the NIH)!
The Atkins Diet will work if you can do without the carbs but if you are looking for a diet without carbs, you should try the GI Zero Diet. It is a diet that allows you to lose up to 5 pounds per week in a non-starvation way. If you love meat and real butter this is for you!

How it works...
Above you see an excerpt of the calorie shifting diet. The menus are easy to follow and you could chose between the ordinary menu or the vegetarian menu. Either way you get to chose from a list of 60 different foods and you should chose between 15-30 foods. When you hit the generate button youll get a printer-friendly menu with the 11-day menu plan.
While you are on the 11 day cycle you should try to stick to the menu (which is really easy). According to the instructions you could drink as much as you want just as long as there is less than 10 calories per serving. However, with the recent findings on artificial sweeteners you should avoid diet sodas as they will make it harder to lose weight or at least make it harder to keep the pounds off. Artificial sweeteners will keep you hooked on sugar.
A cappucino or a latte at the local café tastes great (see a but coming? ;-)) but you should avoid this during the 11 day cycle. At certain meals you are 'allowed' to drink milk, take this opportunity to get your favorite coffee!
It is important that you eat fresh vegetables and fruits. One of the ingredients is sausage links. Make sure that those are high quality, only meat no binders or such.
Meats and fish shouldn't be breaded or deep-fried. Broil it instead. If you use oil always use olive oil.
You'll eat lots of vegetables and they should always be fresh, you get to use some dressings but only according to the guidelines (no creamy dressings, use vinegar-dressings instead. Also, and this is important, never eat potatoes or corn, those are surefire diet killers! Jams is excellent but not ordinary potatoes.
The secret to the diet is calorie shifting. This basically means that you eat according to a certain scheme the 11 days. You shift between calorie groups to trick your body.

Of course I don't agree with you and here I'll tell you why: Following this diet will help you lose weight, you stay on a cycle for 11 days, get off for 3 days and then you are back to another 11 day cycle. This diet IS working, but just like the Burn the fat, feed the muscle diet you lose some water during the first period of time. It is what happens once the insulin levels are lowered.
Also, what does cardio have to do with weight loss? Especially if you are obese? Nothing! And the author of the book (burn the fat....) encourages a low fat approach. Real fat can't be stored in your body...but carbohydrates can and will be stored as fat, even those with a low GI. I'm soon starting a new page that explains that in detail and I invite you all to come.
OK, so you get healthy from cardio exercises, not slim. A correct diet makes you slim AND healthy.

Understand that losing that much in a very short period of time is only obtainable through losing a little body fat and heaps of water and muscle. Sorry to enlighten you ;-). Try not to procrastinate but start your weight loss ahead of time.
