7 Steps to Get Jacked
It really was this easy.
I like to keep things simple, and I don't like to spend money. So when I was learning how to get jacked, I tried to break my system down into a couple really simple and cheap steps.
1) Buy and read Sean Nalewanyj's Muscle Gain Truth. I needed the foundation to understand how to do every exercise, and I needed the confidence to know that what I was the RIGHT way to REALLY get jacked. His system is flat-out awesome.
2) Get a gym membership. No fancy gym necessary, all you need is the bare essentials - a couple benches, a nice set of dumbbells, a bench press, leg press and a squat rack. That's it. The cheaper and grungier the gym, the better. ;)
3) Eat a LOT of food. I mean a lot. Your stomach should be ready to burst after every meal. THIS STEP IS IMPORTANT! Eat lots and lots of healthy food... If you're trying to put on weight, it's fun because you get to eat everything you want to eat... Just try to make it somewhat healthy... instead of pizza every day, eat pizza every other day!
Eat tons of protein right after a workout. Tuna, chicken, pork, whatever you can get your hands on. Eat everything! Add in some vegetables for good measure. Rice is a great cheap source of nutrients, and so is pasta. But focus on getting PROTEIN.
4) Lift HEAVY WEIGHT in the gym. You should only be able to do around 3-4 reps for your last set on every exercise, and you'll FEEL the PUMP after you go heavy. Trust me. Try to increase the weight every other workout, until you're really maxing out, and see what happens. You'll get jacked.
5) Set a regular schedule for the gym. Be there at the same time every week! Try to go early in the day, that way if there's a conflict, you can make up the workout that evening. Also, you get your workout out of the way and have the rest of your day ahead of you.
6) GET REST. When you're lifting heavy, you NEED rest so your muscles can grow. When you work out, you're literally tearing the muscle fibers and they have to regenerate bigger than before. To regenerate, they need rest and LOTS of PROTEIN! Once you're on a regular lifting schedule, you should only be in the gym 3-4 times a week.
7) REALLY WANT IT. The rest is repetition. The hardest part of all is maintaining your focus. A good way to stay focused is to challenge your friends that you'll be in better shape than them by summer, or whenever. That's actually what I did to maintain focus for the 16 weeks where I put on a massive 33 lbs... I never missed a workout.
Missing a workout is like bringing shame upon your family. Or something. Make it important to you, because if you don't REALLY WANT IT it'll never happen.
