    My husband and I rescue bassets. We try to keep it to two at a time, but it is hard to not adopt them all. Great lens.

    Thanks for the memories - my first dog was a Basset Hound, and I've enjoyed a lifelong love affair with hounds, including a bloodhound, blue tick, several bassets and a red bone... there's no better, more loyal breed on the planet. Blessed.

    My first "child" was a bassett. Even though he is long since past, I choke up thinking about how special he was. The portion of your lens titled "The Bassett House Rules" is so true. Thanks for sharing the information.

    Awesome lens on the beautiful Bassets! Reminded me of our Sissy, a starved, emaciated Basset Hound who showed up at our door late one night. We saved her and quickly learned she was pregnant - gave birth to seven beautiful puppies! We later found homes for all of them. She was an amazing dog, and we found a home for her too! Blessings to you today from a Squid Angel.

    How can you not love that Basset Hound face. What a great lens. I really enjoyed reading about the Basset Hound. Some of the information in your lens could appy to any breed of dog Nice Job.

    Hilarious lens! We think our dog is part bassett hound. He sure fits into a lot of the attributes you have here! I love the little story - it's the truth...we humans may sleep under the covers with permission only!

    I just got my new puppy Hank. An amazing basset puppy with 69 champines in his AKC blood line. I love my new baby so much. I think this a wonderful site that has tought me and Hank and lot. Thank you so much for all the fun info.

    Hello, I know you love dogs, & I need help!

    I have a male basset hound and my Son Aaron

    who is 15 yr. old has him in a photo contest. I have few email friends.

    If you are able please vote for our hound if you think he is cute.

    They are so unbelievably cute! I don't know why , but I seem to have an affinity for droopy dogs with a lot of skin.lol. Wonderfully done.

    What a terrific lens! One of the greatest loves of my life was my Basset Hound Haley (after my wife and kids of course). She was a rescue dog and came to us hoping for a new life. She ended up in the lap of luxury and was very grateful. Haley was definately "my girl" and had little time for others. That's okay, because I was the one who got to clean those ears every week...what an interesting an challenging job that was! There's no one who could make me laugh as much as she could. She lived to 15 years and has been gone now for almost 3. My wife and I are definately looking at having more bassets in the future.

    We had a Basset when I was a little girl...his name was Sad Sack and he was the best dog ever! Thanks for the lens, it brought back some fond memories.

    I am intrigue by Big Ears - Mr Jeffries who is in the Guiness Book Of World Record. His beautiful floppy, 29.2cm long ears are insured for 30,000 pounds. Basset House Rules - LOL. Why curl up in a dog bed when I can sleep on a King size human bed. What a smart Hound! 5 stars for you!

    I really enjoyed your lens. My neighbor has a basset hound and he has such a great temperament. The pictures are lovely. The eyes of a basset just seem very soleful!

    Love your lens. I have never owned a Basset Hound, but I think they are VERY cute! I have owned pugs, a boston terrier, two poodles, and a couple of muts. Loved them all! Gave you 5 stars, by the way! AND added you to my list of Favorites.

    This lens is so complete and marvelous that I am going to visit it often in order to absorb it all. Basset Hounds are MOST unusual aren't they? When I see one I feel that I am in the presence of an ancient being...one that is almost akin to a dinosaur, which makes no sense at all, but there you have it. Perhaps their soulful expression gives the impression of old- soul wisdom. 5 Stars of course.

    I send cookies!

    Kathy's Chocolate Chip Cookies

    Cream together:
    1 cup 'real' butter (not margarine!)
    1 1/2 cup sugar
    1 1/2 Tbl. black strap molasses
    1 tsp. salt
    add and blend two eggs
    don't overdo this part or your cookies will turn out weird.

    sift together then fold into sugar mixture:
    2 1/2 cups flour, 1 tsp. baking soda

    add and mix to above mixture:
    1 cup coconut
    3/4 cup old fashioned oatmeal
    2 full cups chocolate chips

    Bake at 325 degrees for about 12 minutes. Use only an old junkie cookie sheet... not one of the new ones, they tend to make these cookies cake. Take the cookies out 'just a hair BEFORE they are done'. Let them finish up after they come out of the oven.

    Your lens is so fun!! I love the photos of your beloved Basset Hounds. We are rearing Labradors, but I have to tell you, I am a volunteer at an animal shelter and in the "rare" instances we get a basset hound they are rescued within the first day!! They are so sweet and I love their voices!!
