Thomas the Tank Engine: A Quick Description
Thomas the Tank Engine has been around for over 60 years. It has been a big deal in the US for the past 10 or so years. There is a whole story line to this: There are videos, TV shows, books, etc. The main thing is the variety of characters (trains & vehicles). Each has its own name, personality and job on the branch lines on the Island of Sodor. Each train/vehicle has a face on the front to make it more personable. The most popular train set in the US is the wooden variety. They are made of real wood and are made very well. There are also a variety of buildings and/or destinations that make the train sets come to life.
Kids Love Him!
My son got his first wooden train set for his 2nd birthday. He is now 7 years old and he still loves trains! That first set was a "generic" set, but since they are compatible with the Thomas trains & tracks, we slowly added real brand-name Thomas trains. Many of the buildings or destinations by the Learning Curve company, that makes the Thomas the Take Engine wooden trains, make sounds and are quite interactive. Yet another reason kids can't get enough of Thomas. My daughter (age 5) also loves Thomas! They both design elaborate layouts and act out little scenarios.
