But Why Do You Want Targeted Traffic To Your Site?

A website is just the beginning of your online business. Customers won't come just because you build a site. Generating Targeted Site Traffic is the most important step to promoting your business online. Below are some great tips so you don't have to buy targeted web site traffic.

Targeted Site Traffic Step #1

Just The Beginning

The best targeted site traffic is FREE targeted site traffic! You get free targeted site traffic from the Search Engines; also known as Organic Site Traffic. You want, no, you NEED to be on the first SERP (Search Engine Results Page) of the major Search Engines.

To do this you simply add your website to the Search Engines. In other words, you need to 'tell' the Search Engines where to find your page, lens, blog, or website. You've probably heard about backlinks and article marketing, but I've noticed that a lot of "gurus" leave out the obvious; you need to submit your url to the Search Engines!

Don't know how to go about doing that? Read on to learn how to finally get Targeted Site Traffic from the Search Engines!

Search Engine Submission For Targeted Site Traffic

It's a good idea to submit your URL to at least the top 3 Search Engines to maximize targeted site traffic. These are Google (of course!), Yahoo!, and MSN. Now you might be asking yourself, "Where do I submit my URL on these sites?" Well, wonder no more!

Google:

Go to Google Add URL.
Follow the step-by-step instructions.
Then go to Google Base...

Google Base:

Go to Google Base.
This one requires a little bit more work, but it's still easy.

Look at the right side bar and click on "One At A Time". Make sure you read the policies and guidelines.

Select an item type or create your own and click "Next".

Then fill out the form. Remember to use your keyword or keyword phrase in the title and body of your description. You are allowed to use hyperlinks, but DO NOT use an affiliate link. If you have to, create a Squidoo lens about your affiliate product and then include your link to your Squidoo lens in Google Base. Again, read the policies and guidelines!

Make sure you preview your submission before you publish it.

Click "Publish" and you're done!

You have just told Google to send you Targeted Site Traffic!

Search Engine Submission For Targeted Site Traffic- Con't

The other two Search Engines (SEs) are Yahoo! and MSN. Far too many times, targeted site traffic seekers only focus on Google. This is a mistake. Yes, Google is the largest SE, but it is not the ONLY SE! You want as much Organic (aka FREE) traffic as you can get, especially if you don't have the moolah to spend on advertising your site.

Yahoo!:

Go to Yahoo! Add URL.

Click on "Submit a Website or Webpage".
(Pssst...did you notice you can also click on "Submit Site Feed"?)

Enter your URL and click "Submit URL". Bam! You're done! You then have the option of submitting your URL to other Yahoo! programs. (Kinda like Google has Google Base.)

MSN:

Go to MSN Add URL.

Enter the characters.

Enter your URL and then click "Submit URL". Simple as pie!

To check and see if your page, lens, blog, or website has been indexed (listed by URL, not by searching for a specific keyword or keyword phrase) in the SEs, go to the specific Search Engine and type in the exact URL of your site. If your search returns your webpage, then it has been indexed. In other words, the Search Engine has found your site and targeted site traffic should be right around the corner!

Submitting URLs to the Search Engines is only the first step in getting traffic to your site. Article Marketing and building backlinks are tried and tested methods of sending laser-targeted traffic to your site and these methods are mostly FREE!

I think keyword research is key. Google's free tools or Market Samarai are my choices. Getting search engine traffic is the best. But I use social bookmarking sites like Digg, twitter and tagfoot to get the word out. I really loved your lens, I can't believe it is your first one. It is very professionally done. Excellent job. I lensrolled it to my google adsense lens.
