Identity Theft occurs when someone other than yourself uses your personal information, such as your Name, Social Security Number or other personal Identifying information.

How do I Help Prevent Myself from Identity Theft? 

Always look for ways to Prevent yourself from Identity Theft. Be Cautious of who you share your Personal Information with.
Never give any of your Personal Information out over the phone.
Always shred any Documents,Bills,Credit Cards, etc.
Beware of Spam Mail. Never reply to online mail asking for your personal info.

What do I do if I Become a Victim of Identity Theft? 

If you found you are a victim of Identity Theft you should call one of the Three Credit Reporting, Experian, Equifax, or TransUnion to place a Fraud Alert on your Credit Report.
File a Report with the Police where the crime actually was committed.
File and Identity Theft Report with the Federal Trade Commission. These are available online or by calling the Federal Trade commissions TollFree Hotline at 1-877-ID-THEFT (438-4338.
Close any Accounts you believe to be Fraudulent.

*Always keep a record of Names, Dates, Times, Numbers, etc. of all Calls, Documents Mailed, or Filed regarding your Identity Theft*
