To shield yourself from Identity Theft you should always monitor your monthly account statements. Check for any fraudulent activity such as charges you don't recognize,

Monitor your credit report regularly. You have the right to one FREE report yearly. Check for any red flags such as inquiries from company's you didn't contact, addresses you don't recognize, charges you didn't make, etc.

Report anything you find immediately to one of the three major credit reporting bureaus so they can place a fraud alert onto your report.

Be aware of Internet Phishing. Never give your personal information to anyone who contacts you online. Don't be afraid to call and check to see if your contact is legitimate.
