The British Longhair cat is a semi-longhair version of British Shorthair. Apart from fur, it is identical to the British Shorthair. The British Longhair is also known as Lowlander in U.S. and Britanica in Europe, but is not recognized in the UK as a separate breed.
The rationale for this breed is that the original longhaired British cat, through interbreeding with imported longhairs, was developed into the Persian and became increasingly massive and extreme in type and with longer, thicker fur than the early Persians. During the late 19th Century and early 20th Century, the Persian was considered the longhaired analogue of the British Shorthair (Frances Simpson's The Book of the Cat depicts and describes the old type of Persian).
During the latter part of the 20th Century a shorthaired version of the modern Persian was developed and was called the Exotic Shorthair; this was very different from the British Shorthair. It was therefore proposed that a longhaired cat of the British type be reintroduced into the cat fancy.

A very old man and a very old woman live in a tidy little house that is surrounded by flowers. They should be happy, but they aren't because they are lonely. Hoping to cure this dilemma, the very old man goes off in search of a sweet little fluffy cat to keep him and his wife company. The very old man climbs hill after hill, and finally comes to a hill covered with felines. Unable to select just one, the very old man ends up bringing all the cats back home with him. However, as his wife points out, they don't have the means to care for so many pets--they can only keep one. When the very old man and the very old woman tell the cats to decide amongst themselves which one will become their pet, they inadvertently set off a huge, and quite dangerous, fight. Will the very old man and the very old woman end up with no cat at all? With the irresistible refrain Hundreds of cats, thousands of cats, millions and billions and trillions of cats, this classic picture book is illustrated with B&W drawings. In print since it was first published in 1928 (prior to the existence of the Caldecott Medal), MILLIONS OF CATS is a 1929 Newbery Honor Book. Copyright (C) Muze Inc. 2005. For personal use only. Cats help me pray, writes Herbert Brokering. This collection of whimsical, insightful psalm-prayers is based on Brokering's observations of cats he has known throughout his life--farm cats, house cats, alley cats. Each psalm expresses an observation about a cat's nature, written in the voice of the cat, followed by a prayer in which the human spirit speaks of its cat-like nature to God. CAT PSALMS is for those who wish to pray more deeply and with more imagination and understanding. It offers fresh ways to see ourselves and new ways to pray. Copyright (C) Muze Inc. 2005. Paid Writing Opportunties
Gather is a great forum to meet people, read entertaining and informative articles and earn money and gift cards while doing it. On average, I earn approximately $50 a month there just for commenting on articles and submitting a few of my own. The earning potential is definitely higher than that if you want to put more than a couple hours a week into it. Check it out.
MyLot is also a decent moneymaker. It doesn't pay as much for your time as Gather but it is still a worthy time investment. Thus far, I've been able to make the minimum payout every month without any referrals and commenting on posts just a few times a week.
