Jack of All Trades

I believe there are two kinds of people in this world. There are those who specialize in one or two things. Then there are those who have a desire to learn a little bit about everything. This second type of person is the one I want to talk about today. They are the ones I consider to be Jacks of All Trades.

I will admit to being one of these people. As proof of this, all you have to do is take a look at my weblog. I talk about almost everything, from how to collect autographs to how to catch a mouse humanely to planting a vegetable garden outside in the backyard.

Being a Jack of All Trades makes Squidoo extremely fun for me. I get to write about everything and anything. If I can think it up, I can make a Squidoo Lens about it. Need proof? Just take a look at some of the lenses I have already made:

Simple Ways to be a Jack of All Trades

Steps to Learn Everything

I think the desire to learn about everything is only engrained in a few people throughout the world. These people are not tremendously focused. They want to start many different projects and rarely complete them. If you are to be a successful Jack of All Trades, you will have to learn to focus on completion. If you don't complete what you start, you will not succeed in anything.

Step one: Keep a journal of all the projects you want to start.

Step Two: Realize you will not be able to get to all of them in your lifetime. When you complete one project, eight more show up in its place.

Step Three: Never have more than three Projects going at once. Make sure you complete on before you move on to a new project. This is the hard one.

It is so nice to be able to take an idea that I am having, and run away with it on squidoo. I can ponder one of the things I want to try and get it out of my system, or let it grow into something cool and fascinating.
