Archeology Adventures of Indiana Jones

With his trademark bullwhip, fedora, leather jacket, and fear of snakes, professor of archeology Dr. Henry "Indiana" Jones, Jr. (played by Harrison Ford in the 3 main movies and the next movie coming out this year!), takes us on adventures in exotic and mysterious locations and gives us an adrenalin rush for each of the movies featuring him.

The character of Indiana Jones, originally created by George Lucas and Steven Spielberg, has created a huge fan base... and the character has also been documented from childhood on in a wide variety of television and DVD release movies.

The book for the 4th Indiana Jones movie in the main series, "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" was written by James Rollins, and features more than just archeological items--it also features Aliens!

This 4th movie was filmed partly in New Mexico for the scenes representing Morocco and in Hawaii to represent the jungles of South America.

Sometimes Indie had to Read the Writing on the Wall!

Exploring the World -- Adventures as an Archeologist... Adventures as a Biologist!

From the jungles of the Yucatan Penninsula to the pyramids of Egypt, the Indiana Jones movies take us on adventures in travel under the guise of that of a professional archeologist. The stories bring in historical events to make the stories alive and exciting.

The three main stories are set in the late 1930s and early 1940s--when archeology was finding new and strange wonders in the jungles of Central America, the deserts of the African Sahara, and the mountains of Tibet. Archeology tends to be sponsored by universities and their respective governments as well as private collectors. Sometimes the private collectors turn out to be nothing more than tomb robbers who want to cash in on the jewels and precious metals that may be found on those sites. Sometimes the archeologists are being sponsored to further their governments' ideologies. These are the various types of archeology that come into play in the Indiana Jones movies... when the Nazi Germany was invading the world and going after treasures to further the Third Reich. These are the types of archeology that Indiana Jones runs into while he's exploring and investigating ancient cultures and civilizations.

There's competition among archeologists--so you'll have fighting among those who want to get to new "digs" first to be the first to find some new artifact. Sometimes this competition can become deadly. Not only that, but the ancient civilizations tended to also booby-trap their burial grounds and their sacred places--to further add to the dangers of exploring in these ancient sites. Indiana Jones seems to handle them all reasonably well (and with plenty of excitement)!

From "vampire" (not really) fruitbats to elephants, from water buffalo to sea snakes (remember, Indie doesn't like snakes!)--the Indiana Jones movies also always bring in a managerie of exotic critters!

Combine Some History with Some Intrigue and Excitement... Indiana Jones Will Dig It Up!

These movies (and the books) use historical fact and weave them with fiction so well that you have an exciting romp through that historical period. In the movies, the special effects and actors are first-class. And the photography brings out the beauty in all the scenery. But then again, words can't describe these movies adequately--you'll just have to see the movies and read the books yourself, won't you?
