If you really want to save money find free tote bags. This is how I have found free tote bags:

I have filled out surveys online.
I have visited stores on Earth Day that were handing out tote bags.
I have been sent sample to review and post on my blog.
I have received some from family and friends.
I have made 1 or 2 out of recycled fabric.

It's that easy!

How To Make Your Own Tote

In A Few Easy Steps

Materials Needed: scissors, thread, needle, two hands (sewing machine optional)
and recycled/used fabric (can be any color or design you choose).

Step one: Take two pieces of fabric and cut them so that they are both the same size and shape.

Step two: Take needled and thread and sew the two pieces together (inside out) on the bottom and on both sides.

Step three: Cut another piece of fabric long to make a shoulder strap. How long is up to you. Fold the strap in two so that it provides support for your shoulder. Sew the strap to both corners of the top of your bag. The bag should be inside in now. Make sure the strap is sewn to each corner securely.

Step four: Test your bag at home before you use it outside. How much can it support? Is it secure enough or will you have to reinforce?

Step five: Once you've tested it to see how well it works put it in your car, bike or purse, so you wont forget to use it when you go shopping.

Tote Bags Are Better

Tote bags are better than plastic and paper bags. They are easier to carry. They wont break easily (sturdy). They save everyone money and they are eco-friendly.

Tote Bag Tip!

If you are having trouble remembering to bring your tote to the store, keep one ore two roll up ones in your purse. Also keep a few extras in the car. When you are finished emptying them of groceries or other items just put them right back into the car.

Good idea for a lens. I'll bet lots of us could find great totes in our homes somewhere. Then you have to get them in your car or in a place to grab then when you go out. It has to become a habit, which can take some time. I'm getting there and now working on my kids!

Very good tips here! I use tote bags a lot for carrying around all kinds of stuff. They are so easy with no zippers and lightweight. They are easy to find free too, I got one free when we went on vaction from the Realty company and another free when I went to a seminar at work. Free is wonderful! :)
