Swine-Flu - Influenza A - H1N1

The purpose of this webpage is for educational purposes ONLY, & not meant to create fear about Swine Flu - now known as H1N1 influenza A - which is the scientific name for the virus.

Somehow, injecting a cocktail of "dead" viruses straight into the system doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.
While your body is attacking this cocktail of foreign bodies - it is left susceptible to the "NEW LIVE ONE" out there.

Viruses naturally travel through the nose, down the throat - slowly entering your system. This gives your body a chance to build up it's own immunity to fight off the virus at hand.

Sprouting Seeds - Natures Vitamin & Enzyme Factories

Quoted from ~ The Wonders of Sprouting by Lucie Desjarlais, RNC ~

"Lots of reasons! They carry plenty of vitamins, minerals, proteins, and enzymes, all necessary for the body to function optimally. In addition to providing the greatest amount of these nutrients, sprouts deliver them in a form that is easily digested and assimilated. In fact, they improve the efficiency of digestion. Sprouts are also deliciously fresh and colourful!

East Star Liquid Extract

Designed to be taken in a combo with Ojibwa Tea of Life%u2122 (essiac) but can be taken on it's own as a deep immune activator, blood cleanser and to increase red blood cell production. This formula is one of the most powerful combinations formulated by Dr. Max Barlow. It prevents cell mutation and facilitates T-cell function. Auto-immune conditions benefit from the use of this special extract.

Contains: Pau d' arco, Chinese Astagalus, Chaparral and Suma.

This original Formula is designed to be taken with Ojibwa Tea of Life%u2122 Essiac but can be taken on it's own as a deep immune activator and blood cleanser. It prevents cell mutation and facilitates T-cell function.

The effectiveness of the four individual herbs that make up East Star (Pau d' Arco, Chinese Astragalus, Chaparral and Suma) are well known by many Naturopaths, Herbalists and other alternative practitioners.

Immuno-Stimulant, Anti Mutagenic. 2 fl oz.

Pau d'Arco

The chemical constituents and active ingredients of Pau d' Arco have been well documented. Its use with (and reported cures for) various types of cancer fueled much of the early research in the early 1960's.

Pau d'arco also has a long history in herbal medicine around the world. In South American herbal medicine, it is considered to be astringent, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anti-fungal, and laxative; it is used to treat ulcers, syphilis, urinary tract infections, psoriasis, gastrointestinal problems, candidiasis, cancer, diabetes, prostatitis, constipation, and allergies. It is used in Brazilian herbal medicine for many conditions including cancer, leukemia, ulcers, diabetes, candida, rheumatism, arthritis, prostatitis, dysentery, stomatitis, and boils. In North American herbal medicine, pau d' arco is considered to be analgesic, antioxidant, anti-parasitic, anti-microbial, anti-fungal, antiviral, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and laxative, as well as to have anti-cancerous properties. The recorded uses in European herbal medicine systems reveal that it is used in much the same way as in the United States, and for the same conditions.

The plant contains a large percentage of chemicals known as quinoids, and a small quantity of benzenoids and flavonoids. These quinoids have shown the most documented biological activity and are seen to be the center of the plant's efficacy as an herbal remedy.

Chinese Astragalus
Chinese Astragalus has an unusual ability to stimulate certain immune functions while depressing others. It is used to strengthen digestion, increase metabolic activity and is highly beneficial for anyone who experiences fatigue, low vitality and frequent infections.

Chinese astragalus root, (Astragalus membranaceus), is widely used throughout the Orient as a tonic food, and medicinal plant. In Asia, this plant is sold as dried slices of root, six to twelve inch long. Research has shown that this root and its extracts are powerful stimulators of the immune system. In Asia the roots are frequently boiled, along with other herb ingredients, and frequently some chicken broth, to produce a tonic/medicinal soup. Astragalus has been used for thousands of years in China. First mentioned in the Divine Husbandman's Classic of the Materia Medica, an ancient Chinese medicinal text, astragalus is said to "tonify the Spleen, Blood and Qi", and is used for "wasting and thirsting syndrome".

Astragalus stimulates virtually every phase of immune system activity. It increases the number of stem cells in the marrow and lymph tissue, and stimulates their development into active immune cells which are released into the body. Research documenting this also demonstrated that astragalus could promote or trigger immune cells from the resting state into heightened activity. Another study on an astragalus-based Chinese remedy demonstrated the tendency to stimulate immune response without suppressive effects. Long-term use (for 35 days) heightened the activity of spleen cells. The remedy also decreased negative side effects of steroid therapy on the immune system.

Perhaps the best evidence to date for the powerful immunostimulant effects of astragalus come from the University of Texas Medical Center in Houston. There, scientists tested damaged immune system cells from cancer patients, compared against cells from the blood of normal human subjects. Astragalus extracts were able to completely restore the function of cancer patients' immune cells. In some cases, the compromised cells were stimulated to greater activity than those from normal human subjects.

As if this weren't impressive enough, another study probed the activity of macrophages, one of the major cells responsible for consuming invading microbes. The activity of the macrophages was significantly enhanced within six hours of treatment, and the enhancement persisted for at least seventy-two hours. The extract also significantly inhibited the growth of tumor cells in mice, especially when combined with the extract Ligustrum lucidum (privet). Astragalus extract may thus restore immunocompetence, potentially beneficial for cancer patients as well as AIDS patients.

Chaparral
Chaparral has a potent and long lasting anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect. NDGA, (Nordihydroguaiaretic acid) a compound found in Chaparral, is a powerful antioxidant that helps prevent the kind of cell damage that can lead to cancer.

For centuries, Native Americans have been using chaparral leaves and stems to treat a wide variety of ailments, including cancer, venereal disease, arthritis, rheumatism, tuberculosis, colds, stomach disorders and skin infections to name a few. In folk medicine, chaparral has been used for leukemia and many different types of cancers. Many people with cancer have claimed tumor shrinkage or complete remission using only chaparral. The plant contains immune stimulating polysaccharides and a key ingredient nor-dihydroguaiaretic acid (NGDA), which has been shown to have powerful anti-tumor properties. According to vol. 19 of Biochemical Pharmacology, NGDA inhibits electron transport in the mitochondria, thereby depriving tumors of the electrical energy they require to exist. Chaparral also has been shown to have good anti-rheumatic properties giving it a role in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.

Chaparral is a very effective internal cleanser and blood cleanser. These evvects make it a good choice for acne and arthritis. It also helps to reduce pain and expel parasites. It can be helpful in cases of bronchitis, when the cough won't seem to go away. It is also helpful in weight loss formulas, as it makes the metabolism more efficient. Chaparral is rich in protein, potassium, and sodium. It is an effective antibiotic herb, but one that should always be used with care for a finite period of time.

The leaves of the Chaparral herb are used medicinally. The Chaparral plant can grow up to ten feet high and are high in potassium and sodium, and contain small amounts of aluminum, barium, chlorine, molybdenum, silicon and tin. Chaparral is a very popular herb due to its antibiotic properties. Chaparral also has Saponins, which are a compound that helps to clean the human body of impurities.

Suma
Suma was for centuries by the South American Natives to treat wounds, skin rashes, low energy and sexual disinterest. The overall effect is to give you an increased resistance to stress while having a cell-building and regenerating effect. It also has analgesic and antiiinflammatory properties that can help alleviate chronic and acute pain.

Suma Root contains 19 different amino acids, a large number of electrolytes, and trace miner~ls including iron, magnesium, cobalt, silica, zinc, and vitamins A, B 1, B2, E, K, and pantothenic acid. It also contains high amounts of the trace element germanium, which is a powerful immune stimulator. The germanium may be partly responsible for Suma's powerful ability to bring more oxygen to the cells.

Suma is used as a tonic for the cardiovascular system, the central nervous system, the reproductive system, and the digestive system. It is an effective treatment for hormonal disorders and symptoms of menopause because of two hormones, sitosterol and stiglllasterol. Additionally, it is helpful in the treatment of sexual dysfunction, infertility, and sterility. Ithas been used to restore nerve and glandular functions and to balance the endocrine system. As an immunostimulant, it is used to treat exhaustion caused by Epstein-Barr disease and Chronic Fatigue System. Hypoglycemia, mononucleosis, high blood pressure, and stress are also treated with Suma Root. In addition, Suma Root has been used for arteriosclerosis, diabetes, rheumatism, and bronchitis.

This original Formula is designed to be taken with Ojibwa Tea of Life Essiac but can be taken on it's own as a deep immune activator and blood cleanser. It prevents cell mutation and facilitates T-cell function.

Scientific system can predict H1N1 spread, claims study

A scientific system, designed to rapidly evaluate the world''s air traffic patterns, can accurately predict how the H1N1 virus would spread around the world, says a new study.
The BIO. DIASPORA Project
The system is known as The BIO. DIASPORA Project.

It was created in response to the Toronto SARS crisis in 2003 to better understand the global airline transportation network and its relationship to the spread of emerging infectious diseases.

"While it is generally understood that air travel can transport infectious diseases around the world, the BIO. DIASPORA Project, has for the first time, provided a very accurate picture of not only where diseases will travel, but how often and when," said Dr. Michael Gardam, director of infectious diseases prevention and control for the Ontario Agency for Health Protection and Promotion. New virus could still mutate, spark pandemic: WHO
By Stephanie Nebehay

GENEVA (Reuters) - The new H1N1 flu virus could still mutate into a more virulent form and spark an influenza pandemic that could be expected to circle the globe up to three times, the World Health Organization said on Tuesday.

Are we prepared this time round?

Spanish Flu vs. Swine Flu
In the modern day and age we as a human race have not experienced a major pandemic outbreak since the days of the Spanish flu, where it is estimated that 50 million people of the worlds population was wiped out. Prompting the question, are we prepared this time round? Do we have adequate methods in place now to deal with an outbreak of such scale? Can we prevent a pandemic with the possible power to kill a substantial percentage of the world's population?

Going Vegan...

I've decided to try to go vegan... Can I do it?
No - Not all at once anyway?

Is it because of H1N1 (Swine Flu)?
No - Not all together.
They say you can not get it through eating the meat. It's airborne...

Three Reasons I'd like to completely go vegan

1. I'm an animal lover. I detest the way these animals are treated.
2. Health reasons - I have digestive & absorbtion problems - Low energy...
3. I would like to enhance my own immune system.
The antibiotics that are ingested when these products are eaten, lowers your own resistance to them. Should you really need antibiotics - they may not work...
