Information on infertility

A person's greatest joy and achievement in life is becoming a parent and sharing your life with a child. Regrettably, this may not come true for some people, who find it difficult to conceive. A lot of people experience infertility or the persistent inability to achieve conception and produce an offspring.

Studies say that majority of the cases of infertility deal with the women. They are main causes of the different conditions that women go through. The remaining cases of infertility are due to the males' sperm disorders and other unexplained causes. Proper and regular menstrual processes cause a woman to become pregnant once fertilization occurs. Ovulation is one of the most common causes of sterility. Such problems that can result to infertility include uterine problems, tubal blockage and preceding tubal ligation.

A woman's state of infertility is directly affected by her age. The ability for a woman to conceive naturally decreases as a woman ages. In general a woman loses approximately a thousand egg cells per month. Other conditions that could eventually lead to infertility include endometriosis, PCOS or certain sexually transmitted diseases.

Pelvic Inflammatory Disease or PID is another foremost cause of female sterility. Gonorrhea or Chlamydia are severe inflammation of the pelvis that can be caused by untreated cervical infections. These diseases can cause scarring in the fallopian tubes which subsequently causes a blockage when bacteria make its way through towards the uterus, ovaries and surrounding tissues. However, once PID has been successfully treated, pregnancy can often be achieved through in vitro fertilization

Another leading root of infertility is Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). It is a hormonal disorder that causes a disruption in a woman's normal ovulation cycle. A woman with PCOS becomes sterile because of the inability to ovulate normally or regularly. It is possible to treat PCOS by correcting the body's hormone levels through a body's ability to absorb insulin.

If you're a couple hoping to conceive then you should keep an eye on the hormone levels in order to do so successfully. These hormones are produced by the body's hypothalamus, pancreas, ovaries, and testes; not to mention the pituitary, adrenal and thyroid glands. Any diseases that will affect any of these can lead to infertility.

Non medical reasons that cause infertility include the couple's lifestyles. Smoking, too much alcohol consumption, use and abuse of illicit medication, weight problems, various sexually transmitted diseases and even too much stress or exercise are just some factors that can lead a person to be sterile.

Unsuccessful attempts to conceive can cause extreme stress for a couple who is trying really hard to do so.  Not to mention that sometimes doctors are unable to pinpoint the problems. This is labeled as unexplained fertility. Another way to take care of this is for the couple to try and not put too much pressure on themselves and try to get a better understading of the woman's ovulation cycle in order to conceive successfully. The main goal is to have a s little stress as possible.
