I first read this book after my home burned to the ground. Funny thing is, about a year before this event, I found SARK and her amazing fans (who are now DEAREST FRIENDS), they had already began to teach me this beautiful healing philosophy about moving past the past and grasping on to the present. A Course In Miracles 

A very dear friend of mine gave me this book years ago and I honestly had a very difficult time reading it at first. Over time, as more and more of my friends were telling me about it, I began to journey into the pages one paragraph at a time, until one day, it seemed that I had read it all and wanted to read it all over again.

There is magic in this book. It has a way of transforming those hidden scars and liberating the spirit in such a way that you don't notice it at first. Others begin to say things like "...tell me, what have you been doing, you are glowing all the time these days..."

It is a Course in Miracles, and well worth the challenge (if you are like me and take awhile to process it all).

I hesitated to include this book. I do not want to offend anyone who may believe that I did not have a dysfunctional childhood. That said...perhaps my childhood was divine and I was not capable of processing it in a functional way. Whatever the reason I found myself with the need to heal my childhood experience, this book was dynamic in the healing process regarding the oldest wounds I had to work with.

I still remember the day I could say " I remember" ... sounds silly now. Before that time, I could only recall brief moments for each year of my life. Eventually, as I uncovered and discovered many things, I was able to remember everything and let it heal and move forward.

Moving forward...isn't really possible until we are given the tools to come to terms with the past. Forgiveness (of self mostly), needs to be planted like a seed, then tended, then celebrated as it grows into a mighty tree (an evergreen), that is when there are never again dark barren places that seem to reach beyond time and space and obstruct our view of a very beautiful world.

I still remember a story I read in the first book I discovered by Catherine Ponder. She was talking about a women who did not have any food in her house and she had children to feed. This women had called her church and they replied "...you know what you need to do." How seemingly disinterested they were, how uncareing I thought.

Then the women got off the phone, looked out the window and saw some of her flowers were blooming. Next thought was of a dear friend who had been under the weather for some time. She went out in the yard and picked the flowers, then took them to her friend.

When she returned home, she started setting the table. The children who had been a bit anxious and out of control prior to this, began to settle down as they watched their mother setting the table. They then knew that they would soon be fed.

Just as the table was set, someone knocked on the door. They said "...I was accross town, and thought of you, then I remembered that I owed you some money and it was heavy on my heart to pay you right now."

I still cry when I think of this story...

The world is just that simple you know. Let go of the lies to make room for the truth. The truth is "...There is always more than enough of all things to use and to share."

I have been using this system for about a year now and I can not express enough how dynamic it is. The book is awesome as well, new approaches using similar foundations, but, with the addition of the element of sound.

I knew that sound has a profound effect on people. Just think about how many times you have been able to see a change in how you feel by simply turning on your favorite song. How some music is better than other music at different times.

Dr. Oakes has discovered a way to create sound that heals every part of our being. Energy work is another level of growth that I didn't discover until very recently. Energy Medicine is responsible for a new level of awareness for me. I have generally been able to disregard pain. Short version: I have managed chronic pain by ignoring it for over three decades. Now I am learning to reconnect with it, to heal it, and to improve my physical health as a result.

A Passion for Writing 

It stands to reason, that my passion for reading would translate into a passion for writing at some point. But, it wasn't until about two years ago, just after my father passed away, that I once again realized there were a few novels brewing within me.

My Dad always used to ask "...are you writing a book?" I know he was joking about how I would ask questions until it made everyone around me tired. I had (and still do have) a thirst for knowledge. I want to know everything about people primarily. Not the kind of thing you read in People Magazine, I want to know about what makes people happy, what makes people enthusiastic, how to bring out the pure joy that lives within under the other stuff that is plain disception. I want to know how to show people the beauty that I see in them.
