What is Intelligent Advertising, and why do we need it?
Intelligent Advertising is targeted information that is permitted and even desired by the consumer. More than that, Intelligent Advertising will be capable of knowing what you're doing, your past preferences and what your friends or trusted sources suggest.
Right now you may be asking yourself, "That's quite impressive Mark, how's that going to happen?" It's going to happen in the next year or two, and it will be initially available for those who are actively microblogging (twitter, friend feed beta, facebook status, myspace status).
There are a couple of key technologies that will enable great functionality in this area. They are a semantic interpreter, and powerful datamining tools. The semantic interpreter will be capable of creating metadata from text information. The algorithms may form the initial basis for artificial intelligence, via inference. This will allow a connection between text data and real objects, relating abstract and concrete. The second technology area will take the form of data mining tools. These procedures can process historic information, from both an individual and selected social groups to determine optimal suggestions.
The inspiration for this web site can be found on my blog, Intelligent Advertising for Microbloggers: Who will be first to swim in the riches? This line of thought lead to my startup's (Victus Media) first project. Our project began as a Notional Framework for Monetization Web2010 and evolved into the Intelligent Media Manager.

Artificial Intelligence could use some effective research dollars
Here are the keys that will unlock desired/targeted advertising of the future:- Semantic interpreters
- metadata associators
- powerful dataminers
These components will be intertwined into customized personal assistants that track our day to day lives and continually strive to suggest the best deals for our dynamic interests. At least that's the future that I'm willing to bet is going to be coming at us sooner than later.
We need our biggest investors to perceive value in expending research funding on developing better advertising tools. The information is now readily available with the popularity of micro blogging (status), social networking (trust), and history (novel user database).
