How to solve the frozen clickwheel problem in iPod nano

At first, I only got to the extreme of restoring it (since the reset trick never worked), but I was wary of doing it more than once, since restoring it too many times can result in internal damage that could rule out the one-year international warranty.

Also, ask yourself: did the iPod get wet anytime? Maybe you left it in the bathroom and it got some steam. Steam can also cause static inside the clickwheel circuits. With rain too.

One of the things Apple won't tell us is that these recent clickwheel models, while sophisticated, are actually very delicate and need protection from all I've just mentioned. :-/

But also I noticed that the clickwheel surface got a bit 'pasty', for lack of a better word, after some use. And of course, it never 'clicked' since it was frozen.

Well, guess what. After a few complaint letters to Apple Support, it turns out that it was a defective clickwheel and had my iPod replaced.
