Solutions to the Iraq War
Ranked #5,196 in Culture & Society, #108,288 overall | Donates to Soldiers Angels
I have been searching for a solution to the current Iraq war. I created this lens to assemble some ideas and proposals. It is comprised of existing proposals that I've found in the public arena and some of my own ideas. You are welcome to comment, offer your own solutions and vote for your favorite. Whether you are for or against going to war in Iraq, we are all in the same boat now and we should do our best to find a solution now. We owe it to our soldiers and to the Iraqi people.

- Instead of the government getting the military to go to iraq and kill people to get oil because they dont want to split the profit with them.
I believe that we should join the military and try to make a difference. Instead of scaring them away with our guns to get what we want; money, land ect... we should use the money that goes to making equipment to help out iraq and re build building that were destroyed in war and bring them water and other supplys that they need and give them hope and im pretty sure when we help them they wont even want half the profit because were giving them all they ever asked for, and instead of killing kids at the end of the day and we actually help all the people to get what we want, dont you think that would be the real way of actually serving for our country instead of killing them all.. and pretending were proud. because i know for a fact after killing millions of people to get what I want I wouldnt leave with a smile on my face.

- We lost a great opportunity in Iraq. After the initial invasion what we needed was a humanitarian aid mission, meetings with Iraq's important men and negotiation not an all out assault on the Iraqi people. Bremer sent the Iraqi army and thousands of government employees into the streets. Unemployed and still armed they faced an increasingly hostile occupier, most notably private mercenaries like Blackwater that slaughtered thousands with impunity - Remember Nisour Square?
Sadr continued to rise in popularity as the US indiscriminately bombed Fallujah killing thousands of women and children - as revenge for the Blackwater mercenaries hung from the bridge.
These are not the strategies of statesmen trying to "win the hearts and minds" of Iraq but the random attacks of a fractured military presence with no clear goal and a private military with no accountability.
