Israel Invasion of Gaza
I do condemn Hamas rockets on Israel but at the same time I condemn Israel military actions which I feel is far too aggressive. It is time to stop the ancient hatred among the Jews and the Arabs. Extracting a pound of flesh from each other just hurt each other in return. It is time to look forward rather than look back into the past enmity. Let there be peace for the further generations of Jews and Arabs rather than this senseless killings and wars.

Disallowing of Journalists
Israel Disallow Journalists
Israel had traditionally refused entry to war zones for Jewish journalists claiming of the dangers but had traditionally allowed foreign journalists into war zones. This time round foreign journalists were forbidden to enter Gaza. This puts Israel into a rare league of countries that forbid journalists freedom of entry. Is it for the security of the journalists or are they afraid to let the world see what had happened in Gaza? The humanitarian crisis that had occurred due to Israel bombings and incursions? Make no mistake, I totally do not deny Israel rights to self defense. But is this self defense? What has those civilians got to do with the rockets? Those civilians just want a normal life, a shelter and food and a future for their children. Whats wrong with that?
Is there any need to fear for the truth? The Holocaust is due the Europe's fear and self denial of the truth causing 6 million innocent Jews to die at the hands of Nazi Germany. I sincerely wish that the victim will not be the aggressor this time round. I had my deepest sympathy with the Holocaust victims and also the victims of Hamas' rocket attacks. But I am totally against such treatment of 1.5 million innocent civilians. United Nations and Israel, please do something to alleviate their sufferings. They do not deserve such punishments on them.
Entering the 3rd Week of Crisis
Entering the 3rd week of the Israel invasion of Gaza, with more than 800 killed most of them being innocent citizens. The Israel military shows little signs of withdrawing. Instead they are signaling that more is to come in terms of the escalation of the fighting with Hamas. Some facts to digest :
Since the Israeli offensive began on December 27, at least 821 people have been killed, including 235 children, 93 women, and 12 paramedics, he said.
Another 3,350 people have been wounded, overwhelming Gaza's beleaguered medical facilities.
Most of the victims are innocent civilians. I guess everyone would like to see peace and it is hoped that the power brokers behind Israel and Hamas can pressure them into talking peace. Civilians cannot stand 3 weeks without running water and electricity. The 3 hours respite that Israel gave civilians simply aren't enough for them to find food and water. I would urge restraint on both sides. Especially Israel to show some mercy on the innocent civilian population. At least let more of UN aid to pass through into the hands of the civilian population and also allow ambulances to travel unhindered for their rescue operations.
The impotence of the United Nations are clearly seen in the conflict. Despite the rhetoric, nothing is done to alleviate the sufferings of the Gaza civilian population. I question the effectiveness of United Nations. Maybe it is time to organize a new World Organization if the world has to watch innocent civilians suffer while those worthless talks and negotiations continue. Really losing patience with them.
18 Days into the War
It has been 18 days since Israel invasion of Gaza. Israeli troops have increased to 5000 and more with addition of many reservists. I express my apprehension on this move. It seemed to be more of trying to increase the fight capacity of their reservists rather than anything to do with the actual war itself. During Hezbollah attacks, Israel has its vulnerable side exposed and is eager to make up with extensive retraining of their reservists which makes up the bulk of the military might. This is now a dangerous phase for the Israelis. Earlier on they were accused of using white phosphorus in bombs rather than in UN mandated usage of smoke screens. I guess during wars, everything and all rules are set aside for convenience. This stage of warfare is most advantageous to Hamas, who are much weaker and poorly armed compared to the Israel army. Street fighting takes away the advantages you have for superior arms and support. This is the time Hamas may try to maximize the pain for Israel in the hope that they can be in a more favorable position when suing for a truce.
It is really unclear what is Israel's aim. To destroy Hamas is not done in a week or two. They may have to be an occupation force for a much longer time. To inflict maximum damage is a possible reason. To reestablish their reputation for military superiority may be another aim. Their tarnished image needs some polishing after the disastrous conflict with Hezbollah. Whatever reasons, street to street fighting is deadly to Israel but are worse for the defenseless citizens. I really hope for peace and immediate ceasefire. Hopefully UN Chief Ban visit won't be in vain.
Rockets Launched from Lebanon
Prayers for Peace
The death toll in the Israel invasion topped 1000 now. With UN Chief Ban in the region, it is hopeful that for once his name works and he can ban the war together with the help from the initiatives by Egypt. Praying that not just the war ended but that Hamas and Israel can coexist in peace and harmony. Let the long suffering citizens in the Gaza strip live a normal and peaceful and prosperous life. Only desperate people do desperate things, of course there are exceptions, but if Gaza people are given the means to live a life like you and me, I doubt that most will be tying bombs to their bodies and blowing themselves up in suicide attacks.I have to combat my personal biases when writing this lenses. I do know a lot of Jews, personally I will favor Israel rather than Palestine, whose country I know very little of. But reading of such a mighty military force as the Israeli's attacking and endangering 1.5 million innocent civilians, it is very hard not to be biased on the side of the Gaza civilians. I hope I am as fair and as objective as I can when continuing this lenses.
United Nations HQ Shelled
United Nations HQ was shelled by Israel on the eve of arrival by United Nations Chief Ban. He expressed outrage at this but I guess he can only do too much. UNRWA complex in Gaza's attack injure three of its employees and caused operations of United Nations there to be suspended amid an uncontrollable fire due to emergency services being unable to reach the HQ to put out the fire. Much needed aid was also vanquished by the fire as it spread to the warehouses of the HQ.Extremely wrong timing, I wonder if this is on purpose to show the UN that it really meant nothing to Israel or is it just a plain accident, hoping that the latter is true. But if UN HQ can be hit so easily, just imagine normal civilian homes. Firstly UN school was attacked and now UN HQ was attacked, what will be next or is there any left?

Can Palestine be at Peace with itself?
Given that the current Palestine itself is divided into two Gaza strip and West Bank, West Bank supposedly moderate and more pro western and Hamas controlled Gaza strip supposedly an eternal foe of Israel. Not to question peace with its neighbors first. I wonder if Palestine itself can be at peace with itself?Palestine is already small enough, to be divided into two makes it even smaller and more vulnerable to Israel's military might. Wonder can Palestine be at peace so that it can pursue nation building, develop its economy, protect its citizens etc? I feel that nation building is far more important than lobbing a few rockets time and again into Israel. It is really time that they refocus on what is important to their citizens and not what is important to their patrons.
Palestinians have suffered tremendously in the last few decades being stateless refugees, they deserve a better life and a place that they can call home with incursions now and again by other nations or militant groups.
US, Israel sign anti-arms smuggling deal for Gaza
US, Israel sign anti-arms smuggling deal for Gaza but I find it a bit weird. What has USA got to do with Gaza for it to sign the anti-arms agreement? I guess this is some kind of political maneuvering that is aimed at securing a peace treaty. Who knows maybe Egypt will come to USA and sign another such treaty which will make more sense.Quoting Rice, the deal "provides a series of steps that the US and Israel will take to stem the flow of weapons and explosives into Gaza." Israel maybe dragging in USA as a guarantor to pressure the Arab world, Egypt especially to stop the flow of arms before it will be willing to pull out from Gaza. Frankly I do not care about that as long as the carnage stops. It is already the 21st day of the invasion.
Hamas seems to be softening its stance towards a peace deal too. It has its own proposal and is not rejecting Egypt proposal outright. This is at least a good step towards peace. UN wise, I guess nothing much Ban can do, even its own HQ is shelled. Kinda sad that the UN seemed to be marginalized more and more with the affected parties seeking their own arrangements at peace rather than through the United Nations. The parties involve can take their own sweet time but the problem is; the ones that are really affected - Gaza citizens are living in hell now. Every hour counts!
Signing of the Anti Arms Smuggling in Gaza Memo
What is Peace?
Maybe some ancient Indian wisdom may help Israel and Palestine. There was a King obsessed with trying to understand the meaning of peace. He sought out advice everywhere but in vain. At last someone said the King ought to consult the sage who lived just outside the borders of his Kingdom:
"He is an old man and very wise," the King was told. "If anyone can answer your questions he can."
The King went to the sage and posed the eternal question. Without a word the sage went into the kitchen and brought a grain of wheat to the King.
"In this you will find the answer to your question," the Sage said as he placed the grain of wheat in the King's outstretched palm.
Puzzled but unwilling to admit his ignorance the King clutched the grain of wheat and returned to his palace. He locked the precious grain in a tiny gold box and placed the box in his safe. Each morning, upon waking, the King would open the box and look at the grain to seek an answer but could find nothing.
Weeks later another sage, passing through, stopped to meet the King who eagerly invited him to resolve his dilemma. The King explained how he had asked the eternal question and this sage gave him a grain of wheat instead. "I have been looking for an answer every morning but I find nothing."
The Sage said: "It is quite simple, your honor. Just as this grain represents nourishment for the body, peace represents nourishment for the soul. Now, if you keep this grain locked up in a gold box it will eventually perish without providing nourishment or multiplying. However, if it is allowed to interact with the elements - light, water, air, soil - it will flourish, multiply and soon you would have a whole field of wheat which will nourish not only you but so many others. This is the meaning of peace. It must nourish your soul and the souls of others, it must multiply by interacting with the elements."
I hope that Israel and Palestine will also do the same interact with each other, nourish their souls and may peace flourish as in the case of the wheat, may we have a whole field of wheat that will nourish all in the Middle East.
Peace is Coming to Gaza?
Israel had indicated that the end of the invasion may be near and they will be voting on Saturday 17 Jan 09 to decide on the peace initiatives of Egypt which comprises of :1. Fighting would stop immediately for 10 days
2. Israeli forces would initially remain in Gaza
3. Border crossings into the Gaza would remain closed until security arrangements are made to ensure Hamas militants do not rearm.
Problem is whether Hamas will be willing to accept Israel forces remaining in Gaza. Hopefully for the sake of its citizens, it will negotiate a Win Win situation for both Israel and Gaza. I guess Israel must have extracted promises from USA to ensure Egypt helped in the blockage of the borders and the fulfillment of the promises on Egypt side during the signing of the anti-arms smuggling memo. But given that this is a unilateral move by Israel, it won't be really effective until Hamas agree to it. But hopefully this serves as a platform for lasting peace. But Khaled Meshaal, the exiled head of Hamas remarks "I assure you: despite all the destruction in Gaza, we will not accept Israel's conditions for a ceasefire," seems to be pouring cold water to the peace initiatives.
Israel Declares Unilateral Ceasefire in Gaza
After 22 days of carnage which left more than 1200 Palestinians dead with much of Gaza in ruins. Israel vote for a unilateral ceasefire purportedly under pressure from the USA. Israeli PM Ehub Olmert declared "At two o'clock in the morning (0000 GMT Sunday) we will stop fire but we will continue to be deployed in Gaza and its surroundings".Reactions from Hamas and Abbas varies, while both declared that no Israeli forces should remain in Palestine, Hamas is taking a hardliner stance but short of threatening more rocket attacks which in my opinion is a good sign that they may be ready for some limited peace treaty and are leaving their options open.
At this point it is still too early to say if the ceasefire will hold as Hamas is not willing to accept the status quo. But having said that, I doubt that Hamas has the military might to expel the Israeli forces. But a ceasefire will allow the real victims - the citizens of Gaza some breathing space and buy time for Egypt and United Nations to work out a more lasting peace pact between the sworn enemies. French President Nicolas Sarkozy is also taking an extremely active role in pushing for peace. I would say that France is more preferred than USA in the Middle East, he may be able to talk his way into some peace agreement with the tacit approval of the USA.

Does Israel has the Right to Be the Judge and Executor?

Yes, they have the right to defend their citizens
Sim-n says:
Totally agree with you about paternal democracy. The problem is that western countries are so far from understanding the local mentality that any attempt to impose democracy is bound to fail. So as you say it would have to be the other Arab countries to take the lead and they are hardly interested. Neither are they able to rein in the terrorists in their own countries without using a lot of violence.
Sim-n says:
Your position is a popular one in Israel and the main idea behind the many peace initiatives that Israel has pursued. You give them a reason to want to live in peace and prosperity and they will lay down their arms.
There is merit to this argument and I think you do need to keep trying at it if that's what you really want.
But, what many people don't know is that Israel has made a lot of effort to do this and $billions goes into the Palestinian economy from the EU and other countries and yet much of the money is diverted into arms purchases and training militias.
Also, the Palestinians seem to be a long way from being able to take responsibility for building a thriving economy.
When Israel withdrew the Jewish population and the IDF positions from Gaza in summer 2005, it left greenhouses and equipment to the Palestinians (bought by philanthropists as a donation to the struggling Palestinians). These ex-Jewish agricultural settlements were producing some 20% of Israel's crops until then and this was a huge opportunity for the local Arabs to take over a profitable business and provide for themselves. Within hours of the Israeli withdrawal, local Palestinians, watched by the Palestinian police, smashed the greenhouses, tore up the irrigation pipes, ripped out the electrical systems and turned the whole thing into a pile of debris.
None of this is a reason not to try, but I think a lot more has to happen than just pouring money in.
A unified voice from the US, UN and EU that Hamas' ideology of death and it's teaching of children to hate is 100% wrong would be a good start instead of their confused and immoral comparisons of Hamas with Israel.
Until the powers that be recognise that Israel is promoting and defending a way of life against those whose primary goal is it's destruction, then Israel will have no choice but to launch the occasional offensive to rein in the terrorists.
Sim-n says:
Boon, you seem like an intelligent and honest person. Please would you answer the question I posed honestly and intelligently: do you really not see the moral difference between Israel and Hamas?
Please note, I believe that much of the Arab population of Gaza would really prefer to live prosperously and in peace with Israel. The problem is that the political goals of Hamas are served by keeping them in poverty and misery, so that their sick education can take advantage of their desperate position and so that they can also whine to the UN about Israel's treatment.
You mentioned in your comments on my lens that you support the citizens of both countries and I salute you for that position.
But I do want to point out that Israel has shown its willingness to negotiate and actually take action to giving Palestinians much of what they demand.
All the best - thanks for introducing yourself to me. I really want to hear the answer to my question.
Sim-n says:
Under present circumstances, if Hamas laid down arms there would be no more fighting. If Israel laid down arms there would be no more Israel.
In other words, History has proven that if Israel doesn't defend itself, no one else will (individuals aside - I'm talking about on a national level. So, yes, Judge and Executor it has to be if it is to survive.
Sim-n says:
Do you really not see the difference between:
Hamas: Deliberately targets regular civilians, making no distinction between men, women, children. Teaches children and adults about the glory of martyrdom, about how there's nothing more great that to die in the act of killing Jews (or indeed any non Moslems). It's leaders openly speak about drinking every last drop of Jewish blood. They purposely places innocent Palestinian in the line of fire in order to confuse people like you.
Israel: Targets rocket launchers, smuggling tunnels, weapons stores (yes, Hamas use mosques, schools and other civic institutions to house weapons). Puts it's soldiers at immense risk by sending them deep into networks of booby trapped streets, houses. Israel prefers to do this only because this minimises the innocent victims on the Palestinian side.
Tell me, do you really not see the difference?
One more thing: if you really want to save the innocent in Gaza, you should be demanding the end of Hamas. Hamas is sending it's own people to death and keeping a whole population hostage. The only way to save Palestinian innocents is by getting rid of Hamas.
No, they do not have the right to kill Palestinians in retailiation for a few rocket attacks
singaporehosting says:
I am one who believe in paternal democracy and not unbridled democracy at least for those societies that are not ready for it. If that is the case as you had said. I feel it would be better for Palestine to be ruled by a coalition so as to improve the overall economy, education standards as in secular education and the likes until they are ready for true democracy. This will certainly help Israel and Palestine alike. But pity it seems that the Arab nations aren't interested in Palestine unless there is real conflict or trouble, then they will do some cosmetic actions for eg Egypt brokering of peace. I haven't really see Egypt doing something about the tunnels until now.
singaporehosting says:
Glad that you shared this with me. Frankly I do not know of such incidents. Sad to see the extent of irresponsibility of the Hamas militants. But I believe Peace is worth trying for, even if it failed again again again and again.
singaporehosting says:
Just to answer your question directly, yes there is a moral difference between Israel and Hamas. I can see that Israel did try to avoid civilian casualties, but I have no doubt that they do know that their invasion no matter how precise will cause heavy civilian casualties. Israel is on a higher moral plane but two bads does not equal a good. Both sides' hands are stained with civilian blood.
singaporehosting says:
Yes I believe that Hamas takes more of the blame rather than Israel. They are fanatics out to destroy. The more Israel killed the better for them as the actions turned civilians into terrorists. Put yourself in the situation, if your parents or siblings are killed and you are in Palestine, with no future and no hope, would you become vengeful and join the Hamas?
But I do believe that what Israel is doing isn't that right either. They are more or less playing into Hamas's traps.
The innocent parties are the civilians of Gaza. The more you kill, the more hatred you accumulate and the more recruits you get for Hamas.
That's why I am proposing that Gaza civilians be helped to get out of this vicious cycle. Give them hope and give them a future, Hamas can be defeated without wasting more bullets and killing more civilians. As I mentioned earlier a man who has a job, who can live with dignity and not begging for aid from Hamas and International organizations, with a home and a future are much less likely to resort to what Hamas has been doing. Give Gaza strip citizens Hope and Future, Hamas will disappear.....
singaporehosting says:
I agree that if Israelis lay down their arms, they are history. I am not suggesting that. Just asking that more soft power is used in the likes of diplomacy, economic aid and assistance to the Gaza strip citizens to give them a normal life and not life as a refugee. Anyone with a future and a home will not support Hamas. It takes both force and diplomacy to achieve everlasting peace. War alone is not sufficient, neither is tit for tat an effective solution to the end of rocket attacks.
“I do not want the peace that passeth understanding. I want the understanding which bringeth peace.”
Recipe for Peace - Give them a Life
I am not a political scientist. This is not my field. I wrote as another human being, neither Arab nor Jew, I guess I can offer a more neutral opinion. My recipe for Peace is simple, give Palestinians a life. They are trapped in their enclaves of West Bank and Gaza strip with outrageous unemployment and poverty. Israel on the other hand is modern and prosperous.May I venture to say that, help build Palestine, given these civilians a livelihood. Israel benefits by having labor for its factories and farms whereas Palestinians can have jobs and security and to live in dignity without having to depend on International or Fatah or Hamas aid to survive. With a home and a job, most will not take the route to terrorism. I do believe in the good of Mankind. Give them a Life and I am sure Israel can have Peace.
Casualties of the Invasion

An eye for any eye leaves everyone blind. But it seemed to leave the Palestinians far worse than the Israelis.
Hamas Agreed to a One Week Ceasefire
Finally it is not a unilateral ceasefire but a bilateral ceasefire and hopefully it will be a long lasting. Palestinian militants agreed Sunday 18 Jan 2009 to a one-week cease-fire against Israel, Hamas spokesman Ayman Taha said. This meant that both Israel and Hamas as well as all Palestinian factions agreed to the ceasefire. Quite a rare incident considering that just hours before that Hamas had not agreed to even a single Israel soldier in Gaza. At least now there is a week of opportunity for further talk in enhancing and prolonging the ceasefire. It takes two hands to clap, finally we are hearing some clapping.
Hamas One Week Ceasefire
Egypt Peace Summit
Egypt has called for a Peace Summit shortly after the ceasefire which was attended by European leaders as well as UN Chief Ban. The meeting was co-chaired by Mubarak and French President Nicolas Sarkozy. Egypt has separately invited the Israelis and Palestinians for separate meetings on Thursday. It was hoped that the meetings will be able to placate the two warring parties and also reinforce the fragile ceasefires that was announced by Israel and Hamas. It is instructive to note that the Chinese word for Peace is made out of two words He Ping. He as in together. Ping can be interpreted as fairness or equality. To be together as equals. Both sides does not treat each other as equals, Israel treats Palestinians as terrorists whereas Palestinians treat Israel as illegal occupants. Never was there any attempt to reconcile and recognize each other rights to coexist together. I feel that the attitudes on both sides need to change for lasting peace to occur.
Inside Story - Diplomatic Efforts Part 1
Inside Story - Diplomatic Efforts Part 2
Abbas Calls for Unity Government
The Palestinian Authority Leader of the West Bank section of Palestine Mr Mahmoud Abbas calls for a Unity Government with Hamas its arch foe. Abbas, whose Fatah's faction has been limited to the West Bank, severed all contacts with Hamas after Hamas extremely violent takeover of the Gaza strip in 2007. Prior to that Mr Abbas had been more or less passive about the fate of the Gaza strip only voicing out some dissent here and there over the invasion by Israel, no doubt gleeful of the fact that his opponents were been hammered by the might Israeli forces.A Unity government will be able to present a united front to negotiate with Israel on a more equal footing and will be able to represent Palestine as a whole. But I do not see that coming too soon. I guess Hamas isn't stupid not to know that Mr Abbas was more or less thankful of Israel's help. But if both sides can dispel their wariness of each other, a Unity government does help to further Palestine cause, though it is a long shot I would say.

Israel Prepares for War Crime Charges

The Israeli government adopted a resolution that would give its military officers legal protection if they are being accused of war crimes during the Gaza invasion on Sunday 25 Jan 09.
The Prime Minister Ehud Olmert declared that "The state of Israel will completely back anyone that acted in its name," and that the soldiers and commanders sent to Gaza need to know that they are safe from the different tribunals.
Israel had assembled a team of legal expert lead by their Justice Minister Daniel Friedman to defend the activities of the Israel Defense Forces that might arise especially military war crime charges or human rights violation charges during its offensive.
Meanwhile UN Chief Ban had demanded an independent investigation into Israeli military actions that damaged U.N. facilities in Gaza. Israel was alleged to have used white phosphorous shells which sparked a massive fire at the U.N. humanitarian compound.
Which brings about an interesting question. What about Hamas? Aren't they as guilty as the Israelis for lobbing rockets into civilian areas for the many years that precede the Israeli's invasion? Aren't they guilty of war crimes? What about the torture of alleged spies for Israel which includes shooting of the knee caps etc? Should Hamas be charged with war crimes and human rights violations as well?
Israel - Gaza Border Clashes
Week Old Cease Fire Breached

The barely week old fragile and uneasy ceasefire was breached. The Hamas side detonated an explosive device against an Israeli army patrol along the border of Kissufim crossing at about 8 am on Tuesday 27 Jan 09. The fighting that ensues killed one Israeli soldier and wounded 3 more. Due to this incident, Israel closed the border crossings between Israel and Gaza. Hopefully this incident will not escalate into yet another full blown conflict. The peace talks are still continuing separately on both sides. Just hope that the peace talks will bore fruit before the military attacks escalate beyond control.

PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan Ties with Israel Affected

According to a government official in Jerusalem on Friday Relations with Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan will be affected on a personal level. The unnamed official claimed that the Turkish Prime Minister violated diplomatic rules of the game but added that this incident does not affect the relations of the two countries. True the Turkey PM violated Diplomatic Rules but Israel's violation of Rules and Regulations can be compiled into an encyclopedia!
"The Turkish prime minister's behaviour was unprecedented. He could very well have done what other Turkish officials have done and make their criticism of the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip in a proper manner," the official added. I find this statement a joke! Tayyip Erdogan has guts! He does not just wine and dine and just talk like the rest of the Arab leaders that totally do not care for the sufferings of the Palestinians, he act like a man! Behaviour is unprecedented but This is a True Man! I feel that there should be more on such people around and we can start moving the cranky wheels of Peace for Israel and Palestine. But pity he seems to be the only one around at the moment.

Peace on 7 Feb 2009

Hamas supposed to give an official answer for a permanent truce on 7 Feb 2009. But it seems to be quite a joke. The reports were saying they are haggling with the Egyptians peace makers on whether the truce should be 12 months or 18 months. Goodness! Is that what they call permanent? Seems to be like buying time. Israel can buy time to plant more spies some that the next time they invade Gaza, they can kill more of the senior Hamas Leadership. Hamas on the other hand will gain more time to further the distance of their rockets. The last time round, they managed to increase the distance by two fold. Wonder for a 12 month or 18 month truce, how much further can their rockets go? Seemed that it is really not peace that they are after but some rest before more brutal and cruel fighting. Wonder if the United Nations is really concluding such a truce? Or will there be any leaders with the foresight to ensure that the truce is really permanent? Not 12 months, not 18 mnths but forever and ever? If they really had a truce in the current spirit, I guess the news will be all over of who break the truce, who retaliated back and how many was killed in each side. Each of them will accuse each other of breaking the truce and this will go on and on and on until the next invasion and the process will continue all over again.....

Hamas Fired Rockets into Israel - 1 Feb 2009
I sometimes wonder if Hamas rockets have a Use By date or an Expiry date such that they are so anxious to fire them at the Israelis to avoid the rockets being expired and unusable. The latest moves of firing four rockets into Southern Israel hurt no one or rather, no Israeli. But I can't guarantee what will happen when Israel fire back at Gaza. Hamas members may be nimble enough to escape but not the innocent civilians. Retrieval of bodies, rescue works and reconstruction works are still being started or continuing. The civilians are still reeling from the last attacks by Israel. Hamas actions really shows no sympathy for their own citizens, their own brothers and sisters knowing full well that Israel's policy is tit for tat and more. Worse is Hamas are hiding within the civilian population thus ensuring that Israel's strikes will definitely wound or kill more civilians. Have not seen any news on Israel's response yet. But if history proves to be accurate, Israel normally inflicts one hundred times more damage than what was inflicted on them and the poor civilians of Gaza will bear the brunt of the wrath of IDF. A Pound of Flesh
"The pound of flesh which I demand of him Is deerely bought, 'tis mine, and I will haue it."
If Israel and Palestine keep wanting their pound of flesh, there will never be peace among them. Live and Let Live. Love and Be Loved. Forgive and Be Forgiven.
Peace
There must be peace in the nations.
If there is to be peace in the nations,
There must be peace in the cities.
If there is to be peace in the cities,
There must be peace between neighbors.
If there is to be peace between neighbors,
There must be peace in the home.
If there is to be peace in the home,
There must be peace in the heart.
