The King of Ghost Hunters

Jason Hawes is quickly becoming the King of Ghost Hunting. Not because he finds the most ghosts, but because he doesn't! He co-stars in his own paranormal reality show called "Ghost Hunters." He is a Paranormal Investigator and the Co-founder of TAPS. Jason Hawes and his show have me as a fan (and that is NO easy feat!)

Combining being a Ghost Hunter, and being a Roto Rooter Plumber, Jason and his partner, Grant Wilson shift gears easily from one role to the other. From cleaning drains to investigating paranormal activity

Seen currently on Wednesdays, on the Sci Fi Channel, fans anxiously await the start of the new season. The new season starts September 3rd. Blogs are abuzz with the news of yet another popular Ghost Hunter Season

Three reasons to love Jason Hawes

Reason One:
He is living the American Dream. He started with nothing, and is now the Founder of TAPS, an Organization that began as a personal quest. He also built a solid enough reputation to have an increasingly popular television show, The Ghost Hunters.

Reason Two:
Jason Hawes is a "Real Person." A sometimes serious, always sarcastic, witty, solid as a rock person.

Reason Three: I am "anti-celeb" for the most part, but Jason Hawes doesn't even realize he's a star. He's full of himself, but he doesn't know he's a star. This should actually be reason One, because he's just a "regular Joe."

I've just joined the TAPS forums, so he must be a great guy! At 47, I have never joined any type of a "fan club" before.

Jason Hawes at a Glance

What Wikipedia knows about the Head Ghost Hunter

Jason Conrad Hawes (born December 27, 1971 in Canandaigua, New York) is the founder of The Atlantic Paranormal Society (TAPS), based in Warwick, Rhode Island. He is also one of the stars and co-producers of Sci-Fi Channel's Ghost Hunters, which has just started its fifth season.

Jason's Personal Paranormal Experience

Will we ever know how Jason got involved with Ghosts?

Jason started paranormal investigations because of his own personal experience with it. To my recollection, he has never shared the details of that experience. He was joined by his partner (and fellow plumber) Grant Wilson. Together they built and continue to build what is now The Atlantic Paranormal Society, or TAPS. Through many staff changes and I'm sure many personal ordeals, they remained committed to finding answers. The TAPS Family began to grow as well and investigators from other States joined Jason and Grant's Group. He and his partner, Grant Wilson are also Roto Rooter Plumbers.

They started locally and now have "Ghost Hunters International" which also appears to be a big success. Jason and Grant are not on GHI, the series. How could they be in two countries at once?

Want more information on Jason? I located a "fan club" of his that seems to be pretty well updated and equipt!~

The Jason and Brian Saga

I have added this due to an incredible response to my recent series of articles on GH and Brian. To clear a couple of things up; Brian left on his own accord, he was not fired from GH. Jason was without a doubt merciless toward Brian, however. I like Jason, and I came to like Brian, faults and all. It is the opinion, by large, of my readers, that Jason Hawes was wrong in the way he treated Brian (a supposed friend) on the show. Calling him "Freakshow?"

Friend or not, if Jason and Grant want to be known as "Professionals" then they need to behave as such. They are great on GH but they need to be a bit more unbiased as to how they treat their crew.

Brian Harnois

On the flip side...Jason is running a business. As a business woman, I can see how having competent workers is important. I am a writer. I would not be able to keep someone on who wrote in my name contrary to my beliefs. Neither would I write a nasty article about them. I would fire them, explain to my readers, and move on. But, Hey, that's just me.

The Ghost Hunting King's Subjects

Ghost hunters team

It is pretty obvious that his crew respects him. I've seen the show, and read many interviews that have been done with him, and I believe he is very respected by people. He seems very dominant, but his humorus sarcasm makes him fun. Jason seems very committed to his quest, and finding answers, even if they aren't the answers he hoped for. For someone who believes in the Paranormal, Jason is very reluctant to call any place Haunted. He has to have interlinked evidence to back it up. There is no doubt to the viewer that Jason is in charge.

It is difficult to tell about the "real" person behind the celebrity. But in his case, it is a little different. I think of his show as a Paranormal Reality Show (he got me again, I usually HATE reality shows!) It would be difficult for him to assume a character when the camera has caught him in all sorts of circumstances. He remains constant. In Ghost Hunters, I believe he is the strength for the others when things get tense. Jason shows little (I can't say NO) sign of fright in most cases. He may seem startled, but he remains calm.

In conclusion

I am drafting another story about Jason. This lens is for Charity and I just wanted to introduce Jason Hawes in Squid Who. Jason Hawes is a person, like you or I. This lens has been primarily to promote his show, Ghost Hunters, and I am taking the other aspects to another lens, to be fair.

Ghost Hunters is a great show. I am a "fan". My family knows that I am not much of a television watcher, but on Wednesday nights they better GET out of my living room because the TV is MINE!

Kudos to Jason Hawes...
