Who is Jahvid Best - Highlights, Stats, Draft Stock, & More

Ranked #14,998 in Sports & Recreation, #359,349 overall

Jahvid Best: 5-10 | 195 lbs.

Jahvid Best is a big play waiting to happen out of the backfield. In his 3 years at California he had over 2,600 yards on 364 carries. Although he didn't do much returning in his final season at Cal, his dynamic return ability will definitely be something the scouts see as a positive for his draft stock. Whether or not he contributes right away as a running back... he will make an immediate impact on a teams return game.

Jahvid's best asset is his speed. He ran a 10.3 100 meter dash in his senior year in high school. After adding bulk to his frame he may not have that same break away speed, but on the field he seems to have another gear that the other players just do not have. He also has quickness and the ability to break tackles, but he will need to improve in these areas to succeed at the next level. Pure speed just doesn't cut it in the NFL, ask Reggie Bush. Although, if you're speed is real (Chris Johnson) it can help you become one of the best backs in the league.

Runningback Rankings

2010 NFL Draft Class

Running backs have short lives in the NFL. Teams frequently are adding new young runners and dropping aging veterans. (see Ahman Green, Fred Taylor, Stephen Davis, Edgerrin James). The draft is where the teams find their youth in the backfield. This year there is an influx of talent of talented running backs. There is the speed demons (Spiller, Best, McCluster) and the bruisers (Gerhart, Dwyer). This draft class is not the best for running backs... but there is a lot of value present in possible 2nd & 3rd round picks.
