Why I love Japanese Baby Clothes

Ranked #2,762 in Parenting & Kids, #86,827 overall

It's cute and more!

Japanese baby clothing isn't only super-cute, it is also very practical. In this lens I'll explain the top 5 benefits to you and your baby of traditional Japanese baby clothes.

This includes stress free dressing for parents and baby, the vibrant colours and patterns, the safety and flexibility of cloth ties and finally the lower risk of irritation to the skin.

I hope after reading my lens you will agree with me!

5 reasons why I love Japanese Baby Clothes

Japanese Baby Clothes1. Stress free dressing - wrap style clothes

Traditional Japanese baby clothes are 'wrap' style, just like Japanese kimono for adults. This means that you don't have to pull anything over the baby's head when you change them. It's perfect for those first few months before your baby's head has settled. I know from personal experience how stressful it can be!

2. Vibrant - unique colours and patterns

Japanese baby fashion is bright, vibrant and unique. Japanese textiles desginers have a long history of producing gorgeous fabrics of the highest quality, which are great for children's clothing.

3. Safety - fewer poppers

Unlike most western baby clothes Japanese style baby clothes typically use 'ties' instead of poppers. As you know, poppers are not always reliable and using more ties helps to reduce the number of poppers on the garments.

4. Flexible - room to grow

Ties on traditional Japanese baby clothes are also great as they allow more room for the baby to grow - because you can easily adjust them for larger or smaller babies.

5. Less chance of irritation

Kimono 'wrap' style baby clothes have an inside layer on top of which the care label can be placed. As baby's skin is so delicate it is important to keep anything that can cause irritation away from it - reducing the risk of any possible irritation.

And finally, they are just super-cute!

I love Japanese baby clothes. Many years ago my favorite gowns and shirts for my babies (now moms with babies of their own) were kimono style gowns with ribbon ties. I am happy today we can find organic fibers for our babies clothing.
