- I have known Jess for near 7 years now, and to me he has been a best friend, a backbone, a teacher, a spiritual guide, a same age brother, minus a month or two, a competition, a travel buddy, a left and right foot, a wing man, an audience, a shoulder to cry on, a success story, a disappointment, a phone call away, a boss, two or three times, a relationship guy, someone to take in the true beauty of an ocean side sunset with, followed by stars, and wisdom shared, and most importantly an unconditional giver of many things to many different people throughout his entire life so far. Jess is honest, smart, caring, loving, giving, confident, inspirational, and extremely deserving of this opportunity, because if everything goes according to the way Jess's life has gone so far then what ever he is given is then handed back to those maybe less fortunate than him times TEN. Best of luck buddy!!!!!!!

- Jess and my daughter Rosalyn have been friends since college. What stood out for me about Jess was his deep passion for making the world a better place and how he openly shares and discusses his ideas with any age group. His ability to lead by example makes him a great role model for youth. Jess went out of his way to be there for Rosalyn if she was homesick, needed a study partner, a ride to the airport, even sitting at her side all night when she was ill. Good luck with your plans, and remember - our door is always open.

- Nice app. I came across it on the crowd favorites (I doubled your votes you had hehe). I am jealous of your summer trip. I too tried that (about 9 years ago though). My journey ended much differently though. What was supposed to be 2 eeks in Nagasaki, Japan turned into 2 months, then single turned into married, then later on there were 3 of us. Now, almost a decade later, I am looking to make it back to the US.
Hope to see you in NY.

- Jess, I just wanted to congratulate you on a great application but more than that for your grand idea called Watch For Change! What an exciting Initiative! What a simple and effective idea. I wish you and your team unimaginable success. Where can I read more about teh project and how it will unfold? When are you launching? I will broadcast it to my network when it does.

- (. . . cont'd). And, I believe Jess is exactly the type of person/business that Seth talks about in his writings. He engages the people around him with his creativity, makes a real connection, and, in turn, makes a difference.
There are few people that I unequivocally trust their opinions when it comes to a new business idea or scenario. Jess is at the lead of the pack of those few. Judging from the comments on here, I am not alone.
It is my privilege to recommend Jess for the Alternative MBA. He is simply perfect for the opportunity.
Thanks Jess. Good Luck in New York.

- I tend to get overstimulated when I am around Jess. We share, he cares, get used to it. Yes, I like him. Our similar temperament, our free flow of ideas, mixed with a passion for business. He gets me, I get him. Anyone want to rent Jerry Maquire?
Right from the first time I met him, I knew Jess was special. In those days, he was the employee that I never had to worry about. Just leave him to his natural devices, and he will always get it done. And, in the process, he will make everyone around him better.
A few years after I left the position, Jess naturally took over the role. He was a business student, and this open work environment in particular allowed Jess to explore and apply his philosophies on leadership and general business. Most importantly, perhaps, it is a place that allows you the time and space to learn how to make real connections with real people on a daily basis in a leadership role. Jess was always a natural at this. . . (out of room. to be continued)

- I met Jess through my girlfriend Rozzy approx. 1 year ago. Jess deserves this opportunity as he is dedicated, full of innovative ideas and always shines with his positive outlook. Jess's drive and determination in life is empowering. Jess continues to challenge himself and his friends with different perspectives. Jess inspires those around him to reach their full potential. I'd love to see where Jess would go with this opportunity!

- I met Mr. Sloss 6 years ago and since then he has become a special part of my family. Jess is perfect for this opportunity as he is the most determined, unique, enthusiastic, patient, supportive and loving person you'll meet. After only minutes spent with Jess, you'll feel inspired to do more and be better. When I need advice, I look to Jess for a different perspective and innovative ideas on how to turn the situation into a positive life challenge. I've watched Jess grow and continually challenge himself with new goals and projects. He definately stands out in any crowd and has the ability to make anyone feel special in this crazy world. Jess is so determined in life and in his career, he deserves this amazing opportunity. I'm proud to know Jess and I can't wait to see what he does next! Goodluck Jess!

- I've only come across Jess recently, but I've been impressed at how quickly I've come to turn to his advice and writing on all things social media. And I can appreciate (and relate to) his clear tendency to almost uncontrollably jump at opportunity. People like Jess get things done. People like Jess help open our eyes. And people like Jess create positive change. I hope to stay connected with him through and long beyond the Alternative MBA.

- Jess you've done a great job of outlining just a few of your many accomplishments here. As a coworker and then employee of Jess's I know that given this opportunity he will thrive in such an environment. He is one of the most professional, innovative, enthusiastic and motivating managers with whom I have had the pleasure to work.

- I only recently met Seth at the Hollyhock Social Venture Institute, an innovative program bringing together social minded entrepreneurs, CEO's, and non-profits. I met a lot of brilliant entrepreneurs from all backgrounds, but was particularly impressed with Jess. Seth - if you are looking for a student who is intelligent, able to think outside the box and committed to noble causes, I think you should look very closely at Jess. He is already very involved and well connected, and with the right tools I have no doubt of his ability to make change and accomplish something spectacular.

- I think Jess is a relatively undiscovered talent and whomever finds him and presents him to the world will win. If no one does it, he will do it himself in short order. I mentioned him in my post here: http://imseekingbalance.com/2008/11/14/generation-we-the-world-is-shifting/
Plus, he is probably my biggest competition given I do Marketing for the other ski area in Vancouver ;) So get him out of there!

- My experience with Jess has led me to see a number of traits that are tough to find in people. As I got to know him I very quickly understood that ingrained in his personality is an unyielding respect for others, openness to new ideas, and a preference to deliver on what he has promised. His willingness to learn from others while understanding his own gap in knowledge will allow a coach transfer skill to him quite easily. Integrity and pride in his endeavors has also created an absolute high quality of output. Simply put to be associated with a person with these strong values will only make others come up to that level.
Good luck Jess.

- Jess, you are wonderful. You amaze me with your humour, wit, and ability to use logic and creativity to help me understand your vision. I admire your drive and determination in creating a successful business that supported you throughout your college career. More than that I admire your ability to work through disappointments and change. You have an eager curiosity, you are continually energized by new ideas and you share your excitement with others through perceptive and innovative media.
When I'm with you I feel your passion to be a steward; to leave this place better than you found it and to use your knowledge, wisdom, and compassion to help others reach their fullest potential. You are a strong and loving personality and I know I have a lot to learn from you. I hope that this opportunity allows you to share yourself and your ideas with a wide audience.
Good luck! xo

- I could go on all day about what an inspirational leader I think Jess is, how I think he has the ingredients of a personality that will be talked about as an instrumental player in our continuing digital revolution, or how I think he is more deserved of this program than anyone I know or could concoct because if he goes, we'll all benefit because, like Jess said, he is an enabler, encourager and fan of the projects and people he believes in. But I'm not going to talk about any of this because the truth is, I don't want Jess to go to New York. Why? Because if Jess leaves, my business will suffer. Selfish maybe, but if you knew how valuable he is, how much energy he brings to the table, and how generous he is with his ideas, you'd want him too. As his collaborator and business partner, I say, Fine! Take him. But you're going to have to fight for him. (and please give him back when you're done with him). Thanks. And Jess, good luck, man. You're perfect for this.

- I don't think anyone could be more deserving of this opportunity than Jess - he lives and breaths business. Hanging out with him basically means you're forced to listen to him go off about some new business this or social media that. Luckily, he's got some pretty creative ideas and interesting insights, which is why I keep hanging out with him :) Plus, he is a pretty helpful guy to have around when you all of sudden need to have an understanding of the big world of blogging in order to pass a course, and you don't even know what a RSS feed is and you think a twitter is a bird call.
Good Luck Jess!!!!

- If there is one person I know who will become "that person"... you know the one we'll see and read about 10 years from now because he actually changed the way a part of the world works or how we live... it's Jess. He's got a paradigm shift in his jeans pocket... trouble is, the jeans went through the wash and right now he's trying to slowly and carefully unfold it without destroying it.
Best of luck buddy!!

I can't think of anyone that deserves the shot at Grodin MBA more than Jess. More importantly, I don't know anyone that will apply it as much as Jess.
The man has a beautiful soul that, as far as I can tell, uses its energy and drive for good. Couple this with a track record of taking action and seeing projects through to success and you have a man that has all of the good intentions and drive necessary to make a difference for humanity.
Sending Jess to the Seth Grodin Alternative MBA would just increase his positive impact on our world...and even though I wouldn't probably tell him otherwise to give him a chuckle, the world needs more people like Jess Loss.

- The legacy of Jess Loss started in first year College for me. I was a rookie first year that didn't know what he wanted to do with his life and Jess was more of an "elder statesman".
I viewed him this way because he was only a year older than me but ran a very successful Lawn Care company that serviced a lot of my friend's lawns and gardens.
One day he found out that I wanted to start a business and he pulled me aside from our friends and said "if you ever want to know anything about how to start your own business let me know." As you can imagine as a first year student business seemed confusing and scary so I was excited.
Jess's initial generosity and the many chats we have shared over the years led me to my own business success and resources that are going to take me further including some of Seth Godin's books. "The Dip", one of Jess' recommendations, helped me through a time of need where I had to decide to quit a large project or lean into the dip.
