A Lesson in Humility

Before the Passover holiday Jesus shared a meal with his Disciples. That meal was called the Feast of the Passover, and Jesus knew that when the meal was done, it would be time for him to endure his crucifixion.

Jesus wanted his disciples to remember his teachings about loving one another, so after the meal He poured water into a bowl and began to wash their feet.

Peter did not understand why his beloved teacher would do such a thing, and he did not want Jesus to wash his feet. He told Jesus he should be washing HIS feet!

Jesus insisted, telling Peter that if he wouldn't allow him to wash his feet, he would have no part with him. Peter, being Peter...declared, then wash my head and my hands too!

Jesus left his disciples with a powerful lesson in humility that day. He taught them about humility and love, and what it truly meant to be a servant, and one of his followers.

Feast of the Passover

Passover (Hebrew, Yiddish: ?????? Pesach, Tiberian: , Israeli: Pesah, Pesakh, Yiddish: Peysekh, Paysakh) is a Jewish and Samaritan holy day and festival commemorating the Hebrews' escape from enslavement in Egypt.

Passover begins on the 14th day of the month of Nisan (equivalent to March and April in Gregorian calendar), the first month of the Hebrew calendar's festival year according to the Hebrew Bible.(; , )

In the narrative of the Exodus, the Bible tells that YHWH inflicted ten plagues upon the Egyptians before Pharaoh would release his Hebrew slaves, with the tenth plague being the killing of all of the firstborn, from the Pharaoh's son to the firstborn of the dungeon captive, to the firstborn of cattle. The Hebrews were instructed to mark the doorposts of their homes with the blood of a spring lamb and, upon seeing this, the spirit of the Lord passed over these homes, hence the term "passover".Exodus 12:12: "On that same night I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn?both men and animals?and I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am ???? (the LORD)." When Pharaoh freed the Hebrews, it is said that they left in such a hurry that they could not wait for bread to rise. In commemoration, for the duration of Passover, no leavened bread is eaten, for which reason it is called "The Festival of the Unleavened Bread"., , Matza

(unleavened bread) is the primary symbol of the holiday. This bread that is flat and unrisen is called Matzo.

Together with Shavuot ("Pentecost") and Sukkot ("Tabernacles"), Passover is one of the three pilgrim festivals (Shalosh Regalim) during which the entire Jewish populace historically made a pilgrimage to the Temple in Jerusalem. Samaritans still make this pilgrimage to Mount Gerizim, but only men participate in public worship.

It's a Dirty Job... But Jesus Chose to Do It

Have you ever washed someone else's dirty feet? Most likely not; unless you are a health care provider...or your name is "Mom!"

...OR if you come from an old fashioned, old school religious upbringing, where washing feet was ALWAYS done in conjunction with taking the Communion!

Most people would never think of asking someone else to wash their feet...it just doesn't seem natural!

But, Jesus wasn't natural...he was supernatural! He had a point to make, and as usual; he used an object lesson so that we would have a visual reminder of the principle he was teaching.

He loved us so much, and his goal was to teach us to love each other as much as he loves us. What better way to show someone how much you care for them than to wash their feet.

It was symbolic, it was bold, it was different, it was unusual...sounds like something Jesus would do, doesn't it?

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

He tells us to go and do what he did. He's looking for willing hearts...he's looking for servants who will be obedient to his instructions and commands; even when they are out of the ordinary!

Have you ever washed someone else's feet? Have you ever thought about it? What would you do if Jesus told you to get a towel and a basin; and wash your brother's feet?

A good question, indeed! Think about it for a while...what would you do?

Walk A Mile In My Shoes

If I could be you, if you could be me
For just one hour, if we could find a way
To get inside each other's mind
If you could see you through my eyes
Instead your own ego I believe you'd be
I believe you'd be surprised to see
That you've been blind

Walk a mile in my shoes
just walk a mile in my shoes
Before you abuse, criticize and accuse
Then walk a mile in my shoes

Now if we spend the day
Throwin' stones at one another
'Cause I don't think, 'cause I don't think
Or wear my hair the same way you do
Well, I may be common people
But I'm your brother
And when you strike out
You're tryin' to hurt me
It's hurtin' you, Lord HAVE mercy

Walk a mile in my shoes
just walk a mile in my shoes
Before you abuse, criticize and accuse
Then walk a mile in my shoes

Now there are people on reservations
And out in the ghetto
And brother there, but, for the grace of God
Go you and I,
If I only had wings of a little angel
Don't you know, I'd fly
To the top of a mountain
And then I'd cry, cry, cry

Walk a mile in my shoes
just walk a mile in my shoes
Before you abuse, criticize and accuse
Then walk a mile in my shoes
Then walk a mile in my shoes
Then walk a mile in my shoes

NewSpring Foot-washing/Jigger Removal

**WARNING** This video contains graphic content. The NewSpring medical missions team doing foot-washing and jigger removal in Depatus (The Segera area). A jigger, scientific name Tunga penetrans, is a sand flea that is brought about by lack of hygiene and breeds in dirty areas. The impregnated female Tunga embeds itself in the skin under the toenails and feeds on the skin of its host. A jigger-infested foot is completely disfigured; the afflicted can barely walk due to the pain from ruptured flesh. The resulting social isolation in turn creates a sense of trauma and reduced self-esteem. www.410bridge.org/Blog

The 410 Bridge Website

The 410 Bridge
At the 410 Bridge, we believe that our personal relationship with God is directly proportionate to our service to His people. He has commanded us to use what is given to us to serve His people, and this command is the crux of our organization.

Our staff is comprised of people who recognize God's call to service and who want to answer that call by using their gifts to minister to others. We share a heart for the nation of Kenya and a passion to build lasting relationships with the people we encounter there in an effort to help spur them on to change.

We believe that a network of committed U.S. churches partnering with communities and villages in a single country in Africa can make a difference. We believe that this focused, single country approach will not only change the lives of God's children in Africa, but also transform the hearts and minds of the American church through service to His Kingdom.

Hmmmmm, I Wonder Why Jesus Thought So Much About Feet?

Paul the Apostle spent three years in the desert, praying, listening, learning about Jesus. This verse is part of a letter he wrote to Christians who lived in Ephesus.

He has something to say about feet too...
Why do you think that is?
Again, I say; Hmmmm

"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace..."

If You Know These Things, HAPPY Are You if You Do Them!

St. John 13:17

The Last Supper

In the Christian Gospels, the Last Supper (also called the Mystical Supper) was the last meal Jesus shared with his Twelve Apostles and disciples before his death. The Last Supper has been the subject of many paintings, perhaps the most famous by Leonardo da Vinci.

According to what Paul the Apostle recounted in 1 Corinthians 11:23?26, in the course of the Last Supper, and with specific reference to eating bread and drinking from a cup, Jesus told his disciples, "Do this in remembrance of me". Other events and dialogue are recorded in the Synoptic Gospels and the Gospel of John. Many Christians describe this as the "Institution of the Eucharist" (see Maundy Thursday).

The vessel which was used to serve the wine is sometimes called the Holy Chalice, and has been one of the supposed subjects of Holy Grail literature in Christian mythology.

The Eucharist...Also Known as The Eucharist, or The Last Supper

The Eucharist, also called Holy Communion, Sacrament of the Table, the Blessed Sacrament, or 'The Lords Supper', and other names, is a Christian sacrament or ordinance, generally considered to be a commemoration of the Last Supper, the final meal that Jesus Christ shared with his disciples before his arrest and eventual crucifixion. The consecration of bread and a cup within the rite recalls the moment at the Last Supper when Jesus gave his disciples bread, saying, "This is my body", and wine, saying, "This is my blood".Ignazio Silone, Bread and Wine'' (1937).

There are different interpretations of the significance of the Eucharist, but "there is more of a consensus among Christians about the meaning of the Eucharist than would appear from the confessional debates over the sacramental presence, the effects of the Eucharist, and the proper auspices under which it may be celebrated."Encyclopaedia Britannica, s.v. Eucharist

The phrase "the Eucharist" may refer not only to the rite but also to the consecrated bread (leavened or unleavened) and wine (or, in some Protestant denominations, unfermented grape juice) used in the rite,cf. The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language: Fourth Edition 2000 and, in this sense, communicants may speak of "receiving the Eucharist", as well as "celebrating the Eucharist".

The Cross Was Gruesome But the Resurrection Is Glorious!

The Holy Communion Is Accompanied by Pain...

Also Known as The Fellowship of HIS Suffering

"I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead." Philippians 3:10, 11 NKJV

Teaching Our Children...

After the Passover Feast, Jesus Went to the Garden of Gethsemane

The Tomb Was Looming Large on The Horizon for Jesus

The Passover Feast was held every year to remind the children of Israel of the night that they were released from their slavery in Egypt.

The Israelites were instructed to sacrifice a lamb, and place the blood on the doorposts of their homes.

When the death angel passed over Egypt that night; the lamb's blood on the door would tell him
to "pass over" that house, leaving the firstborn child alive.

The night that Jesus washed the disciples feet was the fulfillment of the picture we see in the story of the Exodus from Egypt. After the supper, he got up and went to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray, and prepare himself for his soon coming cruficixion.

Jesus became the sacrificial lamb that would redeem us from our sin... once and for all!

No more sacrifices would be allowed after the crucifixion. An angel of the Lord made that clear when he ripped the curtain that covered the entrance to the Holy of Holies.

Angels were certainly busy in revealing the story of the death Jesus died for us!

On Resurrection morning, they showed up again... this time, at the tomb where Jesus had been placed after the crucifixion.

Their words to Mary were the glorious announcement that Jesus wasn't there. He had conquered death, and he wasn't in that tomb anymore!

He was risen from the dead... just like he said he would be. What an amazing story!

Why Did Jesus Have to Die?

"But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."
Isaiah 53:5

Jesus Crucifixion

Forget searching for other video's on youtube, this is THE BEST crucifixion scene on youtube, and the view count speaks for itself. I could rattle off a heap of stuff about Jesus Christ to try and convince the world what he did for us, but i think that the best i can do is make a video like this to stir your heart and let the Holy Spirit speak to you where you are sitting and watching this, if you open your heart. All i will say is,....you will never know the love and power of Jesus unless you seek him and search for him, then he will open the door and answer you. When you get a revelation of him,....then you will KNOW that he is your saviour. Don't wait till its too late. You can pray right where you are and talk to him right now.

Why Is It Important to "Wash One Another's Feet?"

"A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones."

Proverbs 17:22

Suffering With Christ Is The Pathway to Healing Power

Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.

Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.

Philippians 3: 8 -15

This All Happened a Long Time Ago...What Difference Does It Make For Me?

When your life is falling apart, and things don't make sense; don't be afraid to ask Jesus your hard questions...

He WILL answer you, and give you the direction you need for all of the seasons of your life; not just the dark ones!

What a wonderful lens! Sometimes I myself get caught up in the household duties that never end and I start thinking to myself, "I am not a hired maid here", then I think of how Jesus washed thier feet and how I ask in prayer to let my life shine. Then I get ashamed of my attitude and repent of it. This is a beautiful piece of scripture and thank you for highlighting it so well in this lens! God Bless you and I hope you get huge traffic on this lens!

How strange we are!? We want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection, but we think we have to become like him in his death. Nowhere did Jesus teach something like that. Whatever Paul, who wrote the letter to the Philippians, meant, it cannot be what we tend to make out of that. Paul knew better from his own experience, when Jesus came to him on his way to Damascus. There was no physical death involved. Death cannot establish the resurrection. When Jesus resurrected, we all did. "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father in Heaven is perfect..."
