Jesus' Body Found!!!

Jesus' Body Found!!!

I was just reading Time Magazine's Blog and found this article about the possible discovery of the body of Jesus in a tomb in Isreal.

Is It Really Him?

WOW! What an interesting topic! My family is of mixed religions and so they get into huge battles and feuds, often going for years not speaking to each other as a result, over wither one religion is better than another, or which doctrine is the one true doctrine. I well have to pass this article on to them, see what they have to say about it. I could guess, they'll probably all say it's a hoax.

As for myself, I look at religion as a thing that we use to improve us, and as such I follow no one religion, but study all of them one thing I like to do is to find historic proof archeological finds and such that support or refute various aspects of religion.

WOW! The possible discovery of Jesus' body! THAT is such a great find the way I see it, it could go one way or the other.

They prove it's him, and either religion goes crazy, drunk on power, each trying to be the one to house his body in their church, so they can charge people tons of money to come see his remains, or they prove it's him and religion goes crazy, in their attempt to destroy the body and wipe it's existence off the face of the earth so they can continue to milk money out of there members

Either way, organized religion stands to make a fortune. I wonder if they well spend their riches on the sick and poor like Jesus was said to have done?

For me, I thought that proof that Jesus was a real person by finding his body was more important than fighting over with it meant he was crucified or not. I mean, that would mean that he was a real person! That is so cool!

I still don't see that as a threat to my faith or as a bad thing, even if it were true I'm guessing that my personal multi-religion (all Christian faiths) upbringing must have somehow warped my view of Christianity, cause I really don't see the resurrection as the thing of vital importance for my faith, so for me disproving the resurrection by finding a body, does not effect my faith I grew up being taught that as man is god once was; as god is man shall become, and that it is through following Jesus teachings that that shall happen. I think I am realizing, reading the responses to this article, that most Christian view Christianity very differently than I do weird.

I'll be interested in seeing if religious leaders really well do what Jesus would have done. Well they be meek and humble?

So Why Are They Fighting About This?

A lot of people over on that blog are fighting and flaming each other, because they are saying that if Jesus body is found than means the crucifixion was crui-fiction. That article has only been up a few hours and already there are just under 3000 comments on it, and most of them are people in a rage, because they are saying that he was the son of god so he couldn't die, and thus there could be no body; but, if he raised from the dead, as they are also saying, than he must have died in order to come back right? I wonder if they even realize that they are double-talking when they say that?

Wow! Though, some people over there are really taking this really hard though!

I was surprised really at how this has upset so many people in such a short time. I thought Christians would be happy that his body was found (possibly), (I'm Christian, and I would love for someone to find his body) but instead they getting all mad and defensive and throwing out accusations and such. I don't get it isn't being a Christian doing what Christ did and following his teaching? He didn't teach to fight and argue like that that's for sure.

Oh well. I can't wait to see how they attempt to prove or disprove this find. I question the DNA bit; I just don't see how that'll work.

I think that what he taught is more important that wither or not he was resurrected. I mean isn't it?

Is It Really Jesus?

So what do you think?

Yes, I think it was Jesus` body they found.

No, I do not think it was Jesus` body they found.

CosmeticMom says:

Perhaps I am late on this...but where is the film and what is the name of it? Just like the Times to leave out that part in this article.

mulberry says:

I'm not much into religion but even if it is his body I don't see why this would disprove his resurrection. I always assumed it was his spirit not his body that was resurrected...but then I don't study the bible. I would think it's best to let the facts come out and decide...

HZ4EVER says:

JESUS is sitting at the right hand of the FATHER in heaven.
GOD'S WORD is truth!JESUS died on the cross for our sins, and was ressurected to everlasting life so that we could live with HIM forever. JESUS will return one day to reign as LORD and KING. I challenge you to read the Bible and investigate for yourself WHO JESUS CHRIST really is!My prayer is that GOD will reveal HIS truth to you!GOD BLESS YOU!

says:

It's not His body, just some people's idea of how to get others to disbelieve the truth of the resurrection.

topshelf says:

the resurrection was the most important thing! God raised Jesus from the dead and he will raise us up with Him. I do not think it was our Lord Jesus' body.

TimKessler says:

This must be the millionth time someone has come up with a "new finding" about Jesus. But it does not bug me. In fact, it actually strengthens my faith even more knowing how hard Satan has to work to keep finding new ways of discrediting Christ and failing each time. Lol.

Thomas Kopper says:

Its a bunch of crap. Jesus was crucified (killed), ressurected (seen by over 500 witnesses) and is now in Heaven sitting at the right hand of God waiting for orders to come back down and kick some major butt.

Marilyn says:

It is not His body.......He was and still is a real person and yes that is cool.....If He wasn't resurrected then this is the only heaven we will know as hell will be our eternity. I am very shocked and disappointed that someone with your influence does not have the revelation of the importance of our Risen Saviour and the passion to stand against such ridiculous claims. Please read the scriptures and teach what they say about Jesus and His sacrifice for all of mankind.

Jimmie says:

Impossible.
He is risen!
Without the resurrection, our faith is in vain.

driewe says:

If there is no ressurrection then your faith is futile to quote the Apostle Paul. And all those Martyrs starting with the Deacon Stephen died for with a false hope.

"The Godhead hid under the covering of our human nature so as to offer an easy bait to him who sought to exchange us for a more precious prize. And the aim was that just like a greedy fish he would swallow the hook of divinity together with the bait of the flesh. Thus life would come to dwell in death, light would appear in darkness, and thus light and life would achieve the destruction of all that stood against them."

By death he destroyed death.
By the resurrection he deifies all humanity

This has been consistently taught and believed by the by the Orthodox Church (founded in 33AD) for almost 2,000 years. With all the proof texts.

That does not demean what he taught, for the Church has always taught everyone will be resurrected. Those who humble themselves and strive to emulate Christ Teaching stand chance to resurrection unto Glory, the others unto condemnation. I, ilke the Thief on the Cross, can only say "Remember me when though comest into thy kingdom"

Food for thought. How could a proud arrogant person who despises meekness and humility enjoy spending eternity with Christ? That would be hell for them.

Who was Jesus anyways?

What Wikipedia has to say.

Jesus of Nazareth (c 4 BC/BCE ? c 30 AD/CE), also known as Jesus Christ, is the central figure of Christianity, and within most Christian denominations

he is venerated as the Son of God and as God incarnate. Christians also view him as the Messiah foretold in the Old Testament; however, Judaism rejects these claims. Islam considers Jesus a prophet, while several other religions revere him in some way.

The principal sources of information regarding Jesus' life and teachings are the four canonical gospels, especially the Synoptic Gospels,"The Gospel of John is quite different from the other three gospels, and it is primarily in the latter that we must seek information about Jesus." Sanders, E. P. The historical figure of Jesus. Penguin, 1993. p. 57.Funk, Robert W. and the Jesus Seminar. The acts of Jesus: the search for the authentic deeds of Jesus. HarperSanFrancisco. 1998. Introduction, pp. 1?40 though some scholars argue that other texts (such as the Gospel of Thomas) are as relevant as the canonical gospels to the historical Jesus.Amy-Jill Levine, The Oxford History of the Biblical World, New York, Oxford University Press, 1999, p. 371, Chapter 10: Visions of Kingdoms: From Pompey to the First Jewish Revolt (63 BCE?70 CE), M. Coogan et al. (eds.)

Most critical scholars in the fields of history and biblical studies believe that some parts of the New Testament are useful for reconstructing Jesus' life,Funk, Robert W., Roy W. Hoover, and the Jesus Seminar. The Five Gospels. HarperSanFrancisco. 1993. "Introduction," p. 1?30.Harris, Stephen L., Understanding the Bible. Palo Alto: Mayfield. 1985. "The Historical Jesus" pp. 255?260Crossan, John Dominic. The essential Jesus. Edison: Castle Books. 1998.Examples of authors who argue the Jesus myth hypothesis: Thomas L. Thompson The Messiah Myth: The Near Eastern Roots of Jesus and David (Jonathan Cape, Publisher, 2006); Michael Martin, The Case Against Christianity (Philadelphia: Temple University Press, 1991), 36?72; John Mackinnon Robertson agreeing that he was a Jew who was regarded as a teacher and healer. They also generally accept that he was baptized by John the Baptist, and was crucified in Jerusalem on the orders of the Roman Prefect of Judaea, Pontius Pilate, on the charge of sedition against the Roman Empire.Raymond E. Brown, The Death of the Messiah: From Gethsemane to the Grave (New York: Doubleday, Anchor Bible Reference Library 1994), p. 964; D. A. Carson, et al., pp. 50?56; Shaye J.D. Cohen, From the Maccabees to the Mishnah, Westminster Press, 1987, pp. 78, 93, 105, 108; John Dominic Crossan, The Historical Jesus: The Life of a Mediterranean Jewish Peasant, HarperCollins, 1991, pp. xi?xiii; Michael Grant, pp. 34?35, 78, 166, 200; Paula Fredriksen, Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews, Alfred B. Knopf, 1999, pp. 6?7, 105?110, 232?234, 266; John P. Meier, vol. 1:68, 146, 199, 278, 386, 2:726; E.P. Sanders, pp. 12?13; Geza Vermes, Jesus the Jew (Philadelphia: Fortress Press 1973), p. 37.; Paul L. Maier, In the Fullness of Time, Kregel, 1991, pp. 1, 99, 121, 171; N. T. Wright, The Meaning of Jesus: Two Visions, HarperCollins, 1998, pp. 32, 83, 100?102, 222; Ben Witherington III, pp. 12?20.Though many historians may have certain reservations about the use of the Gospels for writing history, "even the most hesitant, however, will concede that we are probably on safe historical footing" concerning certain basic facts about the life of Jesus; Jo Ann H. Moran Cruz and Richard Gerberding, Medieval Worlds: An Introduction to European History Houghton Mifflin Company 2004, pp. 44?45. Aside from these few conclusions, academic studies remain inconclusive about the chronology, the central message of Jesus' preaching, his social class, cultural environment, and religious orientation. Scholars offer competing descriptions of Jesus as the awaited Messiah,For instance Raymond E. Brown in The Birth of the Messiah (ISBN 0-385-05405-X), p. 9 as a self-described Messiah, as the leader of an apocalyptic movement, as an itinerant sage, as a charismatic healer, and as the founder of an independent religious movement.

Christian views of Jesus (see also Christology) center on the belief that Jesus is divine, is the Messiah whose coming was prophesied in the Old Testament, and that he was resurrected after his crucifixion. Christians predominantly believe that Jesus is the "Son of God" (generally meaning that he is God the Son, the second person in the Trinity), who came to provide salvation and reconciliation with God by his death for their sins. Other Christian beliefs include Jesus' virgin birth, performance of miracles, ascension into Heaven, and a future Second Coming. While the doctrine of the Trinity is widely accepted by Christians, a minority instead hold nontrinitarian beliefs concerning the divinity of Jesus.

In Islam, Jesus (, commonly transliterated as Isa) is considered one of God's important prophets,James Leslie Houlden, "Jesus: The Complete Guide", Continuum International Publishing Group, 2005, ISBN 082648011XProf. Dr. ?aban Ali Düzgün, "Uncovering Islam: Questions and Answers about Islamic Beliefs and Teachings", Ankara: The Presidency of Religious Affairs Publishing, 2004 a bringer of scripture, and a worker of miracles. Jesus is also called "Messiah", but Islam does not teach that he was divine. Islam teaches that Jesus ascended bodily to heaven,Compendium of Muslim Texts rather than the traditional Christian belief of the death and resurrection of Jesus.

Amazon Spotlight

Introducing Kindle

Three years ago, we set out to design and build an entirely new class of device-a convenient, portable reading device with the ability to wirelessly download books, blogs, magazines, and newspapers. The result is Amazon Kindle.

Kindle:
Amazon's New Wireless Reading Device

We designed Kindle to provide an exceptional reading experience. Thanks to electronic paper, a revolutionary new display technology, reading Kindle's screen is as sharp and natural as reading ink on paper-and nothing like the strain and glare of a computer screen. Kindle is also easy on the fingertips. It never becomes hot and is designed for ambidextrous use so both "lefties" and "righties" can read comfortably at any angle for long periods of time.

We wanted Kindle to be completely mobile and simple to use for everyone, so we made it wireless. No PC and no syncing needed. Using the same 3G network as advanced cell phones, we deliver your content using our own wireless delivery system, Amazon Whispernet. Unlike WiFi, you'll never need to locate a hotspot. There are no confusing service plans, yearly contracts, or monthly wireless bills-we take care of the hassles so you can just read.

With Whispernet, you can be anywhere, think of a book, and get it in one minute. Similarly, your content automatically comes to you, wherever you are. Newspaper subscriptions are delivered wirelessly each morning. Most magazines arrive before they hit newsstands. Haven't read the book for tomorrow night's book club? Get it in a minute. Finished your book in the airport? Download the sequel while you board the plane. Whether you're in the mood for something serious or hilarious, lighthearted or studious, Kindle delivers your spontaneous reading choices on demand.

And because we know you can't judge a book by its cover, Kindle lets you download and read the beginning of books for free. This way, you can try it out-if you like it, simply buy and download with 1-Click, right from your Kindle, and continue reading. Want to try a newspaper as well? All newspaper subscriptions start with a risk-free two-week trial.

Kindle's paperback size and expandable memory let you travel light with your library. With the freedom to download what you want, when you want, we hope you'll never again find yourself stuck without a great read.

We're very proud to introduce Amazon Kindle and we hope you like it as much as we do.
