Celebrating Jesus: The True Meaning of Christmas

I am making this page about CHRISTmas--Celebration of Jesus' Birthday-- because it has become so commercialized and the true meaning is continually being eroded from society. Jesus Is The Reason For The Season! It's not about spending yourself into the poor house for the latest and hottest products. Christmas is about celebrating Jesus' Holy birth. Jesus is the best gift. Celebrating Christmas is about giving gifts to the Christ child, Jesus through random acts-of-kindness. Also, about leaving Christ in Christmas. Say Merry Christmas, not Happy Holidays. We are told Christ has to be removed from Christmas so as not to offend people. Well, what about offending the millions of Christians. This is one of the few holidays that we celebrate about our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. KEEP CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS!

Christmas is about celebrating Jesus' Birth through participating in or bringing friends, neighbors, and strangers to church plays and Christmas music productions about Jesus' Holy birth, singing the Christmas carols from the heart as prayers in honor of Jesus' birthday, giving gifts to Jesus in thankfulness for all the blessings He has bestowed upon you by giving to others from the heart with random acts kindness expecting nothing in return, and gathering together with family and friends in fellowship thanking and praising God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit counting your blessings. Jesus Is The Reason For The Season!

The true Spirit and meaning of Christmas is loving your neighbor as yourself by genuinely caring for others as more important than yourself through acts of kindness, courtesy, compassion, lending a sincere listening ear, hospitality, and serving others expecting nothing in return. Jesus Is The Reason For The Season!

It's All About Jesus, not the materialism, greed and selfishness that the billions of ads society is bombarded with proclaim, with emphasis, that self is all that matters! What happened to thankfulness and appreciation for the blessings and miracles God has bestowed upon you and using the gifts of talent, skills, and wisdom God created you with for making a difference in the world? God made us all unique and different and we each have a unique contribution to add to make the world a better place. The true Spirit of Christmas is not for just one day of the year, but for every day. Setting selfishness, greed, and materialism aside and letting the true Spirit of Christmas abide in our hearts and guide us everyday by leading us to treat others with respect and better than ourselves is so much more rewarding and will bring back to you the best peace, happiness, contentment, and blessings too numerous to count. The world would be a much better and kinder place to dwell.

Jesus is The Reason For The Season! He is waiting for you to say yes to Him transforming your whole being, heart, mind, and soul, by infilling you with His precious Holy Spirit when you accept Him as the Savior and Lord of your life. You will be transformed from the inside out; the Spirit will clean out all of the muck and mire the world has tainted your heart, mind, and soul with bringing you back to the state God created your heart, mind, and soul to be in and function. Random acts of kindness will be as second nature to you as breathing because you have God's Spirit dwelling within you and his nature is love, kindness, forgiveness, compassion, and blessings and miracles beyond measure. Your heart will overflow with love and compassion for others and random acts of kindness bring you the highest state of joy you can imagine.

Jesus Is The Reason For The Season! Jesus Is The Best Gift! No other gift can compare.

Jesus came to earth to show us how to live and to free our hearts, minds, and souls from Satan's influence and bondage. We Are The Reason Jesus Suffered And Died To Pay A Debt We Could Not Pay And That He Did Not Owe. Jesus Paid The Ultimate Price Ransom For Our Souls. He Died For Us; We Should Live For Him.

One of my favorite Christian artists, David Meece, said it so well in the song and lyrics he wrote years ago at the age of 16. Selah (Ponder upon this):

Lyrics to We Are The Reason :

"As little children we would dream of Christmas morn
And all the gifts and toys we knew we'd find
But we never realized a baby born one blessed night
Gave us the greatest gift of our lives

And we were the reason that He gave His life
We were the reason that He suffered and died
To a world that was lost He gave all He could give
To show us the reason to live

As the years went by we learned more about gifts
And giving of ourselves and what that means
On a dark and cloudy day a man hung crying
in the rain
Because of love, because of love

And we are the reason that He gave His life
We are the reason that He suffered and died
To a world that was lost He gave all He could give
To show us the reason to live

I finally found the reason for living
It's in giving every part of my heart to Him
In all that I do every word that I say
I'll be giving my all just for Him

For Him

And we are the reason that He gave His life
We are the reason that He suffered and died
To a world that was lost He gave all He could give
To show us the reason to live

He is my reason to live"

Every year, I hang a Red Christmas Stocking like the one I have pictured below. This stocking has a gold tag with the name of Jesus engraved on it. Share the riches of Christmas with others when you hang a Stocking for Jesus. Filling this special stocking with your pledge of good deeds to thank God for the gift of His Son gives a beloved holiday tradition deep, personal meaning. A deluxe gift card is provided for personalizing your offering to the Christ Child. You can make a stocking for Jesus if you are unable to buy one.

My Christian Background

Christian Myspace Layouts

During the Jesus Movement (awakening revival) of the late 60's and early 70's I gave my heart, soul and life to Jesus and committed to a personal relationship with Jesus making him the Lord of my life. It was April 11, 1971 during a tent revival that I had a one on one encounter with the precious Holy Spirit, which changed me from the inside out changing my life forever. There are absolutely no words on earth to describe the encounter with the Holy Spirit. All I can say is that without a doubt I know from that encounter that I was never the same. It is hard to describe, but since then nothing has been able to shake my faith nor will anything ever. I know God's Holy Word is true, Jesus is ALIVE and real, the Holy Spirit is real, Angels are real, God the Father is real, I received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, I am no longer bound by the chains of religion -- I am free. Religion ---man made tenants -- destroys lives and kills people. I have a personal relationship with Jesus via the precious Holy Spirit. On the mission field I have seen miracles first hand and I have received numerous miracles personally. I am an ordained Evangelist and Missionary. I love Father God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit ----The Trinity ---- with all of my heart, soul, and mind. I am completely sold out and saved to the bone. I am a radical Jesus Freak. One of my most favorite songs from DC Talk is "Jesus Freak" and it is also a label the world gives Christians who are 100% radically sold out to Jesus and too excited to stay quiet about it. We shout the Good News from the housetops that Jesus is Savior and Lord that has risen and is ALIVE!

The Best Gifts Are Gifts of Kindness From The Heart - Make Someone Smile Today

Give Gifts From The Heart That Change Lives This Year

Now is the time to get back to the true meaning of Christmas. The silver lining to the bleak and dismal state of the economy this Christmas season is the opportunity for people to respect, honor, love, and help one another through these trying times in remembering that Jesus Is The Reason For The Season.

You can a have a rewarding Christmas by giving of yourself this Christmas and making a pledge to keep that Spirit of unselfishness in your heart every day. The best gift is the one that comes from the heart given to bless the heart and life of the gift receiver. A simple act of kindness can change a life and has a ripple effect that touches others as that Spirit of love, compassion, and kindness is passed on to others. Start touching lives this Christmas with acts of kindness gifts from the heart. It is contagious and you will discover all the treasured moments and lifetime memories you have been overlooking if you have not lived this type of lifestyle yet or maybe not to its fullest.

I have lived my life giving and helping others through acts of kindness from a heart filled with love, compassion, and genuine care for others because the Holy spirit dwells within me and I would not trade a single solitary nanosecond. I have received blessings, miracles, and lifelong true friendships in return. I have the red Christmas stocking I have displayed above that I hang for Jesus' stocking every year. Every time I do an act of kindness I write it on a small piece of paper and put the paper in the stocking, then on Christmas eve I take out all of the papers and at midnight I pray a special prayer over each person/family I blessed with a gift of kindness as my Christmas present to them. I ask God to bless them, watch over them, and bless them abundantly as they bless others with acts of kindness to spread the ripple effect. Then I throw the papers away. Some of the best and most fun acts of kindness that bring the greatest joy to the giver and are my personal favorites are those done anonymously as a secret benefactor -- secret Santa.

In Honor Of One Person, "The Waver", Who was The Prime Example of how a simple act of kindness that touched thousands of lives around the world through the act's ripple effect. His story shows just how even the simplest acts of kindness can touch and change many lives. Click the link below to my other squidoo page on Acts of Kindness: Good For Your Health, which contains the story of my friend nicknamed, "The Waver", who was a kind and generous person, who faithfully brightened my day many times.

Little or No Money During These Trying Times Making You Depressed?

Don't Be - Have A Wonderful Christmas - Practice The True Spirit of Christmas!

Here is a list of ideas to get you started on blessing others with acts of kindness giving from your heart this Christmas.
  • Kneeling Santa 1

Jesus Is The Reason For The Season! Fill Jesus' Stocking With Acts of Kindness As Your Birthday Gift To Him!

    1. If you live in an apartment, condo, or a homeowners association, write a note of thanks and appreciation to each maintenance worker, grounds keeper, etc. It will brighten their day that the service work they do is appreciated.

    2. Here's a good one that I did this morning as I was leaving to take my father to a Doctor's appointment at the VA hospital. My next door neighbor's son had gone back to sleep after his parents went to work and had missed the school bus. He was running down the sidewalk with a heavy bookbag, a trombone, and a bag of canned goods the school was collecting for food boxes for the needy. He was struggling and dropping the items. I asked him if he needed help and he told me, on the verge of tears, that he missed his bus and was going to be in trouble for being so late by the time he got to school. I told him to hop in the car and we would drop him off at the school on our way to the VA hospital. I had to drive right past the school to get to the VA. Later this afternoon, he came by to thank us for giving him a ride to school and that when he walked in the door the bell rang. He was so thankful that he was not late.

    3. Help an elderly or disabled neighbor scrape the ice or snow off of their car windows in the morning.

    4. Visit a nursing home, the VA hospital nursing home section, or any other hospital in your area that has a nursing home section. Most of the elderly never receive any visitors. They will be blessed and you will be blessed. I have done this for many years and I have made some wonderful friends and learned so much from their wisdom when they tell of their lives, careers, talents and gifts.

    5. Here is another great idea that I have done. One time I was visiting a senior retirement place to visit with seniors that have no visitors or family that comes to see them and I met an elderly lady who was legally blind from Macular Degeneration. She was upset and I asked her what was wrong and maybe I could help. She was a Christian and had been a ordained Evangelist and Missionary for years. She loved reading her Bible and Devotional books. This lady had a special magnifier reading machine to help her read, but her eyesight was deteriorating to the point that even with the special magnification machine and with high powered hand-held magnifying glasses used to further magnify the largest type setting on the machine that she could no longer read. She had memorized most of the Bible and the verses she remembered she would sit and recite. However, she could no longer do her devotionals, which meant so much to her. I smiled and told her I was also a Christian and an ordained Evangelist and Missionary. She was ordained in 1946 and I was ordained in 1994. I told her I had a simple solution for her problem and I would be very glad to help her. We also agreed on a regular visiting schedule so we could talk about each others experiences as Evangelist/Missionaries from two different eras -- compare notes. She was anxious to see what my solution to her dilemma was, but I told her it would be a surprise for her from me on my next visit with her the following day. I asked her where her devotional book was and she took me to her room and told me to look around her reading machine. I found it, asked if I could borrow it, took it home, and that night at home I read the entire devotional book out loud recording it on my cassette tape recorder. Devotionals are dated and there is one for each day of the month. After each day's devotional and bible verses there is often a prayer. So, when I recorded the devotional book I stated the date, day of the week, read the devotion, the bible verses for that devotion, and the prayer. I then left a little pause on the tape between the days (she was blind and it would take her a couple of seconds to turn the tape recorder on and off) then I would go on to the next day. I was blessed reading the devotions and she was going to be blessed because of my solution for her not to miss any of her daily devotions. It took me a couple of hours to complete the tape. The next day I took the tape to her. She was so happy and overwhelmed that someone would do this for her that she broke into happy tears. We have become very good friends and I record her devotions each month. She just turned 96! This was a simple solution and a simple act of kindness that sparked a very rewarding friendship.

    6. Invite an elderly neighbor over for dinner once in a while, especially if they live alone and do not get visitors. Or, if they cannot get around easily take a home cooked meal over to them as a surprise.

    7. Give a short note of appreciation and thank you to a checker or drive through person that has given you good service with a smile. This will brighten their day! They work very hard and deal with many people, which are not always kind taking out a bad day on the clerk.

    8. Shovel the walkway of an elderly or disabled neighbor.

    9. When the weather is bad offer to bring in the mail for an elderly or disabled neighbor.

    10. If you are in a store parking lot and see a mother with a young fussy baby that is struggling to soothe the infant and put the packages in the vehicle offer to put the packages in the vehicle so the mom can tend to the child.

    11. Volunteer at a local shelter to help serve food or hand out food boxes.

    12. Volunteer at a local library to read to the children. They always could use more people to do this.

    13. Volunteer to help an elderly or disabled neighbor to put up their Christmas tree and decorations.

    14. If you are on your way out to do errands and you see one of your neighbors on their porch or in their yard ask them if they need something from the store, dry cleaning picked up, or stamps that you can pick up for them while you are going on your own errands anyway.

    15. If you know of someone from church or one of your neighbors that has been ill, had recent surgery, or just got home from the hospital cook a meal and take it to them or if you cannot afford to then offer to clean their house, visit with them, or help them answer get well cards.

    16. Offer to read the newspaper or letters to a blind person.

    17. Take a game or games that you no longer use to a hospital for patients to use.
