Jesus Manuel Montane : New Sci-Fi Fantasy Is Set to Stun TV

Epic stories about good versus evil have been with us since biblical times. The theme is so basic, but so close to our consciousness, that we never seem to tire of hearing one more yarn about the good guys beating up on the bad guys.

Star Wars, Dune and Battlestar Gallactica are among the most popular sci-fi fantasy stories that have been told in recent years that pit good against bad, and they've influenced a generation of aspiring sci-fi writers and filmmakers.

Jesus Manuel Montane is one such creator who has been influenced by the sci-fi epics of the past, as well as the works of Jodorowsky, to attempt his own epic re-telling of the classic struggle of good vs. bad. He is the writer and director of the animated tale called Godspeed: One: Secret Legacy.

Set in a war-torn galaxy, the story tells of Garud'Zbel, the leader of the El'Thanat and bringer of darkness, who launches an attack against the planet of the El'Djinn. A young girl, fleeing from the attack, absorbs powerful radiation, which transforms her into a being with great powers and abilities. Her mission becomes the defeat of Garud'Zbel, and the restoration of peace to the cosmos.

Montane says, "Kira, the main character, is both a little child and a fully-grown up woman at the same time, in parallel universes. She has a hard time, trying to understand what's going on with her body and what are her new powers. It's a metaphor of pre-adolescence."

Because the battle between good and evil is such a timeless topic, it's only natural that fantasy tales parallel one another in certain areas. In his book, The Hero with a Thousand Faces, Joseph Campbell mapped out the basic structure behind religion and myth. He demonstrates that nearly all stories told throughout time are retellings of the same tale: The hero's journey.

While the details of the hero's journey differ from tale to tale, the basic premise is nearly always the same: a young person, chosen by destiny, odds stacked against him, on a quest to defeat evil. Writers and storytellers have used this pattern over and over - from the ancient Greeks to George Lucas.

Fantasy tales of good and evil span the realm of entertainment having been told in verbal stories, books, films, comic books and television. Godspeed is an animated TV movie designed to draw in viewers with believable characters, rich story lines, a pumping musical score and visuals that blow away typical Saturday morning fare.

"We've spent two years creating this universe, this unique experience. Kids are, nowadays, too used to cheap, bad animated TV. Godspeed script and characters work on many levels, and its conceptual design is quite unique. The ships with sculpted faces, the symbols of each tribe%u2026 well, I would have loved it, if I saw it on TV when I was a child," says Montane.

Godspeed is coming to television soon and is also available in HD. For more information, trailers and extras go to: maythesacredcombatbegin.com/.
