Jillian Michaels the Fitness Guru can help with Gifts of Good Health
As a person who has tried low calorie diets, high fat diets, the Atkins Diet, Weight Watchers, the Southbeach diet, Calories Don't Count, low carb diets, high protein diets, the Mediterranean diet, detox diets, boosting my metabolism and Fit for Life, I guess you can say I am interested in weight loss.
Along with millions of others I have been interested in the show The Biggest Loser and Jillian Michaels. She has become not only a star of this TV program but our country's foremost Fitness Guru and a real asset in helping us reach our actual goals.
With Jillian's overwhelming popularity I wondered if she was good, or too good to be true.
What did I find out? I found out that her program is based on science, and she teaches a very good program with a clean diet. Also, because of her early unhealthy and overweight condition, she is highly motivated to help others reach their goals just as she has. and because of her youth and condition she is able to exercise and kick butt-as they say.
Exercise is a very important part of reaching your goals-as you can see from the Biggest Loser show.
Another thing I have found is that with her books, DVDs, cards, etc she is able to help us at home, relatively inexpensively to reach our goals too.
Jillian says "Forget the Gym Fees & Get Fit Faster!" She is promoting her own strength training products, but she does have a point, you can do it at home. It's your choice.
So, no matter if you love or hate her, and I noticed that people either feel one way or the other about her, if you have some fitness goals you are welcome to use her expertise and motivation to help you reach your goals. And we can do it in the comfort of our own homes without leaving our families or even paying for a gym membership. (Unless you choose to use the gym-which is OK too.)

This book really changed my life more than any other health-related book or article I have ever read. I was completely in the dark about the amount of pesticides, chemicals and other garbage I was ingesting as well as the possible impact on my endocrine system.
Jillian makes a very compelling argument to go organic. I have definitely changed my standards on what I want to hear from the FDA before I ingest any more mass farmed beef, vegetables or sucralose. I don't want to wait until things are proven unsafe. I want to see proof that it is safe before I eat it, or feed it to a child. Until I see that proof, I feel a lot better spending a little extra on organics.

So many people have been helped by her that if you want the results-use her books, DVDs and whatever you need that she is producing. Just check out the reviews first and see if it gets the results you want and deserve.
Also remember, you must follow the program. Just getting some of her material will not get you the results you want. You must- apply the training, and then stick with it. That's the only way to achieve your desired results.
Many are making their plans to begin the new year off right, so if she is a fit-by all means use her material.

Jillian asks if you are still paying for that pricey gym membership? Whether you are or not- you're in luck: There are more options to help budget-conscious, time-challenged and/or shy exercisers slim down at home.
Research tells us that resistance training as the most effective way to boost metabolism by building muscle mass; since there's no better form of resistance than your own body weight, you can start out at the bottom, price-wise (zero) by placing pushups, lunges and squats at the top of your home workout agenda.
If you've already mastered the no-props-required workout routine and you want to add extra resistance, your options are nearly endless. Thanks to booming numbers of affordable products aimed at home fitness fans, you can easily build an effective workout program at home - for a fraction of the cost and effort of joining a gym.
Just be aware that to get the most out of any strength training regimen, you need to choose a weight or resistance level heavy enough to tire your muscles after about 12 repetitions. And don't go overboard - no more than four to five hours of resistance training per week.

I have watched both seasons of The Biggest Loser, and I thought of Jillian as an abrasive woman who never had a weight problem in her life. I thought that she was tough on her "clients" because she looked down on them for being overweight. After reading her book, I have changed my opinion.
In the first section of the book that focuses on Self, Jillian states that she had a weight problem that had emotional roots (like mine), and that she had to value herself first, and then loose weight. In the next section, Science, Jillian demonstrates how to "crunch the numbers" to help us understand how our body works in relation to weight loss. Next, she goes on to explain the different ways that we process foods. Using this information, we can tailor a diet to suit our bodies. I learned that I was a "slow oxidizer", which means that I need 65% carbs, 25% protein, and 15% fat. This explained why I could never loose weight on Atkins (no low-carb craze for me). In the last section, Sweat, Jillian gives us the benefits of exercise as well as descriptions of various exercises (weight lifting).
This book is great, and not another typical weight-loss book.

This is such a good question - I'm so glad you asked! Many people suffer from the backlash that can result from years of yo-yo diets. What happens is this: When people let their calorie levels drop too low, their body's survival mechanism kicks in, lowering their metabolic set point (or basal metabolic rate). When they go off that crash diet and begin to eat normally again, they gain back any weight lost - plus. And what follows that? Yup, another crash diet.
The cycle is often very frustrating, but it CAN be reversed with time, consistency, and patience. What you'll need to do is the exact opposite of what we call shocking the metabolism; you have to allow your body time to adapt to a new metabolic set point - by being consistent, you'll force your body to adapt.
Okay, here's the game plan: First, set your daily caloric intake at 12 calories per pound of body weight. (For example, my weight is 117; 117 x 12 = 1,404 calories a day.) Then stick like glue to that calorie allowance for at least one to two months, depending on your metabolism. This will allow your body time to readjust your metabolic set point accordingly.
Now, here's the other part of the equation: The absolute best way to pump up your metabolism is to EXERCISE. You'll be burning calories not only during your workout but also up to 48 hours after - all the while increasing lean muscle tissue, which speeds the metabolism over the long term. Aim for five hours of exercise a week if possible, but no fewer than three hours a week.

I've only written one other review for Amazon so believe me when I say this DVD is AWESOME!! I had been going to the gym and power walking for months. During those months, I had only lost 8 pounds. Desperate, I purchased P90X and after a couple of weeks and realizing I needed to purchase so much equipment to complete the workouts, I gave that up. After searching through Amazon Customer Reviews, I found Jillian Michaels' DVD highly rated...and the price was also right. Another selling point was the only equipment I needed was a couple of dumbbells and a mat. Even though I had never heard of Jillian Michaels (I've never watched the Biggest Loser) I purchased the 30 Day Shred, not expecting too much and figuring I'd quit in 2 weeks.
Well, 3 months and 35 pounds later, I can say this DVD is all the workout you'll need. The workouts are only 25 minutes long (no excuse for busy women), but they're tough. After a couple of weeks and thinking you can't take anymore, you'll notice your body changing. After another 2 weeks, you'll notice the pounds melting off. In less than 3 months, I have went from a size 16 to a size 8 and that's without any extreme dieting.
Continues to say it is a hard workout. So, know that%u2026%u2026..
just gave up my gym membership and have purchased her other DVD, Jillian Michaels: No More Trouble Zones (also awesome), and now alternate between the 2 so I don't get bored.

Okay, I honestly used to HATE working out. Really hate it. But I ordered The 30 day Shred from Jillian thinking that I could do something for twenty minutes for thirty days. Ten pounds later, I found that I looked forward to working out. I needed MORE. So Jillian delivered to me this and the "no more trouble zone" videos. They are like the 30 day Shred but longer and are either cardio or weight based. She keeps the energy high and gives, as always, excellent instructions on how to do the moves properly, so as to not become injured. I recommend this DVD for anyone who is fairly in shape and wants a difficult, addictive workout!

One Review: I was skeptical about this game at first...there was always something missing from all the other exercising games on the wii. Although wii fit plus is sooo much fun...They REALLY packed this game with everything that I thought was missing from all the others. You can customize a routine...(by the way there are tons of exercises to choose from) or choose a daily workout they prepare for you. The balance board option is sooo responsive...you don't need the balance board...but it does enhance the game quite a bit. I was so impressed with it...and the pacing is great. They don't OVER explain everything...You don't have to tool with gadgets as in ea active...it's really just so fast paced, like a real work out should be.
Added extras...you can weigh yourself daily pitting yourself against the other losers...,
There's a cookbook...everything is all ready for you...don't need to waste time unlocking things that should be there...because your main purpose is to work out!
There's even cool down and stretching options, yoga as well...
It counts your caloric intake and daily burns!
Now I'm just being nit picky now...but the only gripe I have about this game is that you can't put your scores online, pitting yourself against friends.
They do however, have multiplayer...

- Wow, great lens! While there are a lot of great exercise machines out there my recommendation goes to the air climber exercise machine. It is relatively small, inexpensive and most off all, actually fun to use!
