Jillian Michaels became an immediate fan favorite as the strength trainer and life coach for the Red Team on Seasons One and Two of NBC's hit series The Biggest Loser, the competitive weight-loss reality TV show. As a motivator and role model, Jillian has a unique connection with her audience that stems from her own personal journey for wellness. In the summer of 2007, Jillian made her long-awaited return to The Biggest Loser, coming back as a surprise trainer to whip a third team of contestants into the best shape of their lives. She has also signed on to coach contestants to success in the hit show's fifth season, which premiered in January 2008.

She also talks about her philosphy of losing weight which is a combination of science, sweat and self. She is not a big fan of the so-called experts who promise 8 minute solutions to weight loss. Are you resolved to slim down this year? Hi I'm Jillian Michaels for America Takes it Off. One ingredient in particular, you'll want to look out for when trying to slim down is sodium. Sodium slows your metabolism and makes your body retain excess fluid. Leaving you feeling bloated, and feeling soft, and nobody likes that. A healthy daily sodium allowance is about 1500 mg. When you're preparing for a big event, it's OK to drop your sodium level to about 500mg for a few days. Some foods to be mindful of are canned frozen, processed and packaged foods.
