One of the greatest players ever to wear the famous Spurs shirt. Jimmy played for Spurs from 1961 to 1970 scoring a club record number of goals.
He was top League goalscorer in four seasons 1963, 1964, 1965 and 1969. His record of finishing top goalscorer in six seasons has never been matched and probably never will be.
Bill Nicholson signed Jimmy Greaves for Spurs for £99,999 the year after they had done the double (1961).
He won the FA Cup in 1962 and 1967, scoring against Burnley in the former. DVD's of both these games are available at our site. The 1962 Final was generally regarded, and is indeed mentioned in commentary, as being one of the best FA Cup Finals in a long long time.
He also won the European Cup Winners Cup in 1963 - scoring twice in the famous 5-1 defeat of Atlético Madrid, ensuring that Spurs became the first British club to win a European trophy.
