LOOKING FOR A JOB or CAREER IN RECORD BREAKING TIME ?
Whatever your reason, this site is designed to help you find a job and or career relatively quick by using conventional and unconventional job search methods in good and bad economic times.
"But Is It Possible To Find A Job in 7 Days..."
Yes, its possible, but let's not kid ourselves, it will be challenging. But bear in mind, too often people have only one method or a limited selection of methods in finding a job, such as preparing a resume and then searching the classifieds. It goes without saying as you may imagine, that we have come a long way since then.
Hence, this lens page will teach you how to stretch your methods of job hunting, so as to get the biggest bang for your buck in the shortest period of time. So keep an open mind, and start thinking of how full that half empty glass is versus the other way around.
Now let's find you a job. Are you ready???
Employably yours,
Cubicle Joe

THINK YOU CAN'T LAND A JOB IN NO TIME? THINK AGAIN....
PART I - 3 of 6 Initial Traditional Steps You Should Employ
Finding a job and actually landing a job may me equivalent to going on a treasure hunt nowadays, especially when you consider the present state of our economy. Nevertheless, creativity, initiative and persistence should serve as hallmarks of success in your job hunt. And yes, I know, this is easier said than done. Still, you cannot quit.___________________________________________________
So here are 6 important steps you should employ in your job search today. Some of these steps may seem obvious, whereas the others may not be so obvious:
1. Newspaper Classifieds - Today by and large we live in the internet age where classifieds are posted. But don't take the Sunday newspaper classifieds for granted. Many companies continue to advertise employment positions in this manner, as well as job fairs in your area.
2. The Internet - This method without saying. There are numerous services and companies on the web that will assist you in finding a job in your area or out of state. You should also not forget that the specific companies you are interested in will more than likely have a webpage on their website devoted to employment positions as well. So needless to say, do not disregard this avenue.
3. Career Associations - There are many professional associations out there people can join not only for the educational and industry certification opportunities available to them, but for the employment opportunities as well. Many such associations will advertise jobs geared to positions related to the industry association that may not be advertised to the open public. Instead these advertisements are available only to its members. So definitely take advantage of such associations in your industry and join them. Don't also forget the networking opportunities that professional associations can provide you.
PART II - 6 VITAL STEPS THAT WILL LAND YOU A JOB IN NO TIME
3 More Non Traditional Steps
4. Blind Resumes & Informational Interviews - This is something many candidates definitely take for granted and do not think of. If you already know what job you want, and particularly what company or companies you would like to interview and hopefully work for, then take the initiative and find out whom to send your resume to. This may require some detective work. But, once you get a name of a Manager or Director of a department, then call them, fax them, or email them your cover letter and resume. Also request if you could meet with them for an informational interview (no strings attached). Granted they may not be hiring now, but what a lasting impression you will make on someone when they are ready to hire. Chances are they will remember you.5. Resume Blasting - This is a fabulous service that entails you having your resume professionally done, and or you handing your resume to a service that will fax your resume simultaneously to a multitude of companies and organizations all at once. You also have the option of selecting the companies or organizations from a specific industry, and blocking out your current employer as well. This is a great method of getting instant results, in as far as at least a phone call from a potential employer.
6. Networking - This definitely takes work and may require some years under your belt so to speak. Making and keeping contacts within your industry is vital because you never know when you'll need to call upon someone to ask them, "Hey, are you guys hiring now?" If someone knows you as a professional acquaintance, your chances of getting a job interview or the job itself increase tenfold, compared to just someone off the street. So make sure you work on making those "professional friends" in your work life. They will pay off one day.
Lastly, in addition to having creativity, initiative and persistence, you must be realistic in your job search. Chances are very good that positive results won't be obtained for quite some time. So it's imperative to accept the fact that you must have patience during this search. But don't ever throw in the towel, and keep pounding that job market pavement. Because before you know it, the opportunity of a lifetime will soon enough land on your lap.
BLAST FAXING YOUR RESUME TO THOUSANDS OF RECRUITERS IN SECONDS !
The Pros and Cons

We described briefly in the previous article what Resume Blasting is about. But is it for you, and what are the pros and cons?
First of all, as you may or may not know, Resume Blasting is not a free service. Much like having your resume professionally done, you have to pay for this service upfront. And unless you have a database of tons of indstry recruiters or HR company contacts, then you cannot effectively perform this for yourself (not to mention the cost you would incur in faxing the resume to thousands of people). With the cost however, you can vary the price, which generally is dependent upon how many regions you are concentrating and want to fax to, as well as how many blocks of industries or companies you want to reach.
To some degree, you should also know that with Resume Blasting, your resume will be sent out indiscriminately to recruiters. It may not necessarily get to the hiring manager of the specific department you may be looking to get hired in. BUT, like anything else, it gets your foot in the door. PLUS, if you make your resume and cover letter pleasing and professional in appearance, chances are you will catch someone's eye right away.
I personally am in favor of Resume Blasting. It allows you the ability to reach hundreds or thousands of employers and recruiters simultaneously and you are in control. It also saves you considerable time in looking for a job versus more conventional methods.
If you are a recent graduate, or are willing and able to hone in on your industry, or are looking for any job you can get, resume blasting will then defintely cover all of your bases. Because remember, much like with telemarketing or sales in general, Resume Blasting is a numbers game. Potential success relies on the number of people you can get exposed to as fast as you can.
Cubicle Joe's Career & Job Tip Of The Week !
If you already know the name of the person who will be interviewing you for the job ahead of time, then run their name through Google? If you see a positive story, think about the impression you will make when you share it with them. Find out something negative, and it may make you wonder about the company or organization you're applying for.

RESUME FAX BLASTING SERVICE - EVER HEARD OF IT?
HAVE YOU CONSIDERED CALLING A JOB SEARCH AGENT TO YOUR RESCUE?
What's a "Job Search Agent" you ask? That is simply a refined search that you can set up on many career and job posting sites, which then notifies you of any and all upcoming jobs or positions you are interested in. More than that, you can also set up a Job Search Agent for a certain geographic area.Pretty neat right?? The job search agent works for you basically 24/7 and can obviously save you a ton of time, while you are job hunting in other areas, and canvassing the market with your resumes. You should strive to set up multiples job search agents through various job posting sites. Also, a lot of company web sites will allow you set up job search agents for their particular employment postings as well.
One thing to keep in mind though. Consider a Job Search Agent only as a supplement or additional aid to what you are already doing. Don't think that these Search Agents will do all the work for you. Consider them as little helpers, but the rest really falls upon you.

DID YOU SEE....
Up until this point we've been talking about how to find a job. Well, that's great, but what are you gonna do when you get called for the job interview? I'll tell you what you're gonna do. You're going to visit my latest lens page for the latest & greatest tips and advice on job interviewing. That means YOU MUST CLICK HERE NOW !

YOU HAVE ONE WEEK TO FIND A JOB. ON YOUR MARK...READY, SET, GO !

Hopefully the day will never come when you're standing on the unemployment line and you're now faced with the hard fact of having to find a job in one week. If this ever happens, strap yourself in, because the ride will be bumpy. But with some organizational skills, initiative, and drive, you can actually very well make such a challenging goal possible.
Before anything else, remember, there is no time for wallowing or moping around and feeling depressed. So it's important not to psyche yourself out, and instead, psyche yourself up. Rule number one is to remember that now is the time for action. So don't accept anything else from yourself! From here on, what follows is a schedule outlining a proposed listing of tasks you can implement in one standard week:
SATURDAY
Prepare Your Resume - leave enough room on top of your resume where you generally input objective, so that you can easily retype the title of whatever position you are applying for. Make sure you do a spell check of your resume, and do not go beyond two pages. If you can, keep it to only one page. But a page and a half is acceptable and generally better than two pages.
Prepare Your 10/30/60 Second Commercials - When you go to a job interview, think of yourself as a salesperson. You are selling yourself. So each of these commercials must explain why you're looking for a job, what you're looking for, and display evidence of how good your abilities are.
For example, a ten-second commercial might go like this: "My company just underwent a reduction in force, so I am seeking out another Analyst's position. My Manager, who has always given me excellent evaluations, told me he never thought I should be let go. But fiscally, he had no say in the matter." The 30 or 60-second commercial should be more detailed and include information about the kind of job you're looking for and/or provide more evidence of what you can bring to this new company.
SUNDAY
Get The Sunday Newspaper - Start perusing the classifieds. Also, within the classified section, look for any possible Job Fairs to attend.
Prepare a List of All Your Networking Contacts Who Can Help You - Tomorrow you will start calling all those industry friends & colleagues you have made over the years. So prepare a quick list today and get on the phone tomorrow.
Blast Your Resume via Fax - As soon as you finish preparing your resume, send it to a service that can blast fax it Monday morning to hundreds, and at times thousands of companies and or company recruiters. It will generally take a day, but by Tuesday or Wednesday, you should start receiving calls from potential interested employers.
MONDAY
Start Calling or Emailing Your Networking Contacts - Ask your contacts if their company is hiring, or if they know anyone that is. Additionally, ask them if they would accept your resume via email so that they can then forward your resume to any contacts they have.
Identify 20 - 30 Employers You Really Would Like To For - Do this on line and proceed to the company websites. See if these companies are hiring and apply.
Seek Out On Line Job Posting Services - Since you're on line already, it's time to start seeking out companies that post jobs from employers by position and geographic location. Identify any open positions.
TUESDAY
Apply to Any Open Posted Positions - From all of the companies you identified on Monday who had open postings, begin applying now on line.
Follow Up With Your Network Contacts - Conduct a brief and polite follow up with your colleagues or contacts. Remember, they have business meetings and may be traveling on business. So in as much as they may appear to want to help you, you may not be at the top of their list right now.
WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY
Check Your Voice Mail For Any Calls - By today, you should be receiving some calls from the resume blast you sent to the third party resume fax company on Sunday night. Remember, nothing is ever guaranteed in life and recruiters are not going to drop everything and call you now just because it's you. So if you don't get a call today, keep in mind maybe it will come Thursday.
Get The Daily Newspaper Again- Generally mid week sometime (dependent upon your area), an updated classifieds section is printed in your local newspaper. So get the paper and check out the updated ads once again.
If There Were No Open Jobs Posted - If you found no open jobs posted through the job posting services, or the 20 - 30 companies you were looking at, then it's time to start sending the CEO of those companies you want to work for a cover letter with your resume. You may also entertain the idea of sending the CEO an email, with your cover letter and resume attached.
FRIDAY
Check On Line For Job Fairs - On a weekly basis, you should be checking on line, as well as through your local paper for any upcoming job fairs.
If Nothing Has Transpired Up To This Point - treat yourself to a nice lunch. You deserve it. Because next week, you'll have to start this whole cycle again.

EMPLOYMENT AGENCY OR HEADHUNTER. WHO IS RIGHT FOR YOUR JOB SEARCH?

Let's start off by clarifying one thing before we continue. Unless you are a senior level executive or have a very defined and or technical skill that is specialized as well as in high demand, you will be wasting your time thinking that you could get a job through some headhunter or Recruiter.
Why? Well think about how much money a potential employer is paying a headhunting firm to begin with. For the mid level and every day professional positions, companies can instead advertise their position through their own website, or other internet job posting services on line. As a result, recruiting firms will usually only take on executives or high-end technical candidates.
So if you are someone who could still benefit from a recruiter, then here are 6 things to watch out for:
1. Never pay a fee to an Employment Agency or a Recruiter up front. Because the fee can be enormous. Some agencies may actually try to negotiate with you by reducing your salary, bonus or relocation expenses to make up for their fee. That's no different really from paying them up front. So if you encounter this, just walk away.
2. As I indicated in my Resume Blasting article, Recruiters are in sales. With that being said, don't have the illusion to think that they are your personal employment agent. Remember who pays them. The company, not you.
3. Following in line with point number two. Many recruiters like to present as many qualified candidates for a position as possible. Once again, their interests are for themselves and the company. The company is their client. You are just the byproduct so to speak.
4. If by chance, you're looking to change careers and you think a recruiter can help you with that, then good luck. Their not interested in being your career coach. They want to make a sale and match their client with the best possible employee. So you either fit the mold, or step out of the way.
5. Much like the fallacy or myth that someone can get rich quick, working with a recruiter doesn't ever guarantee a quick job. Sometimes it takes a while for any leads to develop.
6. Be careful with signing any contracts a recruiter may throw in front of you. If they do, get a copy of the contract and preferably have an attorney review it.
As far as employment agencies, the only types that exist today are temporary agencies. These types of agencies are perfect and generally can provide faster results. A temp agency can find anyone and everyone a job. It all depends what youre willing and able to do.
