There is not too much new information in the universe - what's different is how it's packaged, and especially what we DO with what we KNOW. Get fresh... (more...)
I'm passionate about seeing people connect with their true purpose and my mission in life is to figure out ways to make our small talk bigger. I used to work in Corporate America, but have found more joy in my entrepreneurial path. I am committed to forming connections with others to form mutual support systems so that we can transform ourselves and our lives together.
Where's Jodee?
- Sweet Adelines (no, it's not what you expect!)
- I absolutely love barbershop harmony - and it's not your grandma's barbershop!
- OPRAH!
- I am a huge fan of all things Oprah, even though I rarely get a chance to watch live. My dream used to be to get tickets to a live show ... now it's to be ON the show with Oprah!
- Conversations With God
- I'm continually amazed by the information in this series of books. As a recovering Missouri Synod Lutheran, these books are like coming home to the spirituality inside of me.
- Landmark Education
- Some skeptics out there think it's a cult, but what my Landmark training has given me is immeasurable. Not only have I figured out that the past is the past, I have tools for much more effective communication, self expression and leadership. Tough to scoff at those results, at least in my life!
- Printellectual
- Since I'm just venturing into the world of self-publishing, this is a great resource for getting printing quotes.

The 100% Factor: Living Your Capacity
How Conventional Wisdom Can Produce Unconventional Results
PREFACE
This book provides an opportunity to examine some of the lessons you've learned over the course of your life, whether at work or outside of work, and ask yourself an important question: "How's that working for me?"
When I think back on my corporate career, I identify myself as a square peg in a round hole - trying desperately to fit into the mold for which I was hired, only to feel that the only way to do that was to shave off those square corners that made me who I was. It became more difficult to sacrifice those parts of me, even for the pension and benefits, than to be true to who I am. I was taking a paycheck but knowing I was only contributing a portion of myself to the company, despite a connection to the cause. I knew there was more for me to do, but didn't yet have the skills or the self-awareness to be able to communicate that to my boss.
With the benefit of hindsight now, I'm able to see that had I had support in my seemingly outrageous thoughts and belief system, I may have been able to communicate my ideas in a way that wasn't as threatening as it appeared at the time. Had I known that there were others in the world who shared some of my frustrations about feeling stuffed into the box that was mine on the organizational chart I may have been able to formulate my thoughts into meaningful dialogue.
That's my hope for you as you read this book.
One thing I didn't understand then was that 100% is not the same for every person. My 100% may be 50% of what you choose to bring to the situation - or it may be 150% of what you choose to bring. But if we are all committed to bringing our own individual 100% to our work each day - or even to individual projects during the day - and know and trust that our employers, employees, and/or co-workers are doing the same thing, we will have an excellent opportunity to create a higher level of satisfaction at work.
Of course, the opportunity to receive a maximum level of satisfaction from our work will require us to become 100% responsible for contributing our 100%.
You already know this stuff - but I challenge you to think of this conventional wisdom without the filters you've gotten used to over the years. It's not terribly new information, but as Doris Lessing says:
"This is what learning is.
You suddenly understand something
you've understood your whole life, but in a new way."
