Joe Ledbetter is a Los Angeles homey and self-inflicted artist. Marking his territory in the art world with a shake of a leg and a disturbing and yet unmistakable scent. His cartoon character derived artwork consists mostly of twisted cute creatures shredding and mangling each other in a bloodbath of horror all displayed with Pantone Color accuracy.

Since Joe Ledbetter has now hit the jackpot with his almost god like status in the world of Urban Vinyl Figures it is rumored he spends his days highly sedated somewhere in the Hollywood Hills.

Take nothing I said above as serious. Joe Ledbetter is a very brilliant man with a whole slew of great characters and artistic ideas. I hope to one day be able to afford all those Wheaty Wheat Studio figures he created in a fit of Vinyl Genius. They go for a hell-of-a-lot of money on EBAY. Good luck finding any deals on Joe's products.

One word of advice... See all the links I give you to the stores. Well, Go there first and see the prices for these fine vinyl pieces and then... only then go out on EBAY and bid. Just from experience... EBAY is a rip-off waiting to happen most of the time.

The Trouble With Trexi

10" Trexi Joe Ledbetter Flying Pig

Play Imaginative makers of the Trexi recently came out with a new 10" design by Joe Ledbetter titled FLYING PIG it also includes a 3" design titled A COLD DAY IN HELL. There are two types; a Toy Qube Exclusive Metallic Paint model and a Flat Paint model.

I think that last Joe Ledbetter title is appropriate to what I feel about buying another Play Imaginative Trexi product, at least from an on-line source. I do not in any way, shape, or form, fault the artist Joe Ledbetter or the web site retailer that sold me this Limited Edition Trexi with several nicks and gouges and chips in the paint. It is not their job to make sure the company's product is Quality Assured. Nor do I expect that every piece I buy be perfect. But... There is such a thing in my opinion as an acceptable level of expectation.

I am not the only one reporting these issues despite the claims to the contrary by Play Imaginative and many people have photographs of both models online showing the common problems that are being found.

This whole event has taught me a sound lesson.

I will no longer purchase Play Imaginative Trexi products without being able to take them out of the box and physically and visually inspect them for these known problems in a store before spending over $100 on a piece.

I know this option may not be available for a lot of people out there but please be careful and review that you have a way of rectifying immediately any issues that might arise from purchasing any product on line, especially Expensive Limited Editions, that might be defective and hard for the vendor to replace.

Services like Paypal do provide insurance for these types of issues and they have better legal advisors available to them. As a rule of thumb when it's over $100 I buy the insurance.
