I thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful mini series about the life of our 2nd President, John Adams. If you love American history, this television series is a must. Not only does it teach the history of this amazing time in our history, you get to really learn about John Adams the man, the husband, the father. I even surprised myself by how much I enjoyed this series.

My review

This mini series was very entertaining. Not only is the acting phenomenal, but it offers a very accurate history lesson. This series also portrayed the true love and devotion that John Adams had for his beloved Abigail.

I learned that ironically, both John Adams and Thomas Jefferson died on the same day. They died on July 4th the 50th anniversary of our countries Independence!

I have seen all but one installment of the series. I was very impressed. I read the book last fall. John Adams is my hero now. The book compelled me to write a lens.

I like to watch history shows from time to time. I'm not a couch potato though.

HomeTowne_Market says:

I am a history freak!!! John Adams had a huge impact on our fight for independence and was a major impact on how our government was structured. I watch and read anything I can about the birth of our nation.

nightbear says:

I probably would like it. I have not seen it advertised so I will watch for it.

John Adams

Who was John Adams?

John Adams (October 30, 1735 July 4, 1826) was an American politician and the second President of the United States (1797-1801), after being the first Vice President (1789-1797) for two terms. He is regarded as one of the most influential Founding Fathers of the United States.

Adams came to prominence in the early stages of the American Revolution. As a delegate from Massachusetts to the Continental Congress, he played a leading role in persuading Congress to adopt the United States Declaration of Independence in 1776. As a representative of Congress in Europe, he was a major negotiator of the eventual peace treaty with Great Britain, and chiefly responsible for obtaining important loans from Amsterdam.

Adams's revolutionary credentials secured him two terms as George Washington's vice president and his own election as the second president of the United States. During his one term as president, he was frustrated by battles inside his own Federalist party against a faction led by Alexander Hamilton, and he signed the controversial Alien and Sedition Acts. The major accomplishment of his presidency was his peaceful resolution of the Quasi-War crisis with France in 1798.

After Adams was defeated for reelection by Thomas Jefferson, he retired to Massachusetts. He and his wife Abigail Adams founded an accomplished family line of politicians, diplomats, and historians now referred to as the Adams political family. His achievements have received greater recognition in modern times, though his contributions were not initially as celebrated as other Founders'.

Adams was the father of John Quincy Adams, the 6th President of the United States.

Excellent lens! 5 * and a tweet from me. I did the netflicks thing to see these and I admit I would love to own the movies - could tuck them between the Blue and the Grey and North and South. ;) Of all of history I love the era surrounding the revolution the best. I actually wrote an essay on the Sons of Liberty hiding in my computer somewhere.... I am glad I'm not the only history buff around.
